The Bullshit Side of the Internet Marketing Guru Industry

Who cares what they sell it for. It's what they sell and how they sell it that matters. If someone's willing to overpay that doesn't make these "Gurus" evil...it's the lies, WAY overhyped earnings claims and hidden rebills that labels them scammers.

All valid points. I think this one is different because:

1. Selling sign-ups to hook-up dating sites full of pretend women (but no real ones) = $40/month each
2. Selling worthless weight loss products to people desperate to lose weight = $90/month each
3. Selling bullshit government grants packages to people desperate to make money = Don't know how much grants cost... $100 each?
4. Selling payday loans to people who will never be able to pay them back = Same here, I'm not sure how much it costs.. but usually w/ payday loans, you know you're going to pay interest.
5. Selling worthless marketing materials to people desperate to make money online= $20,000$-30,000 each

Like Jon said, buyer beware.

C'mon Ben get your numbers right $20,000-$30,0000 per sale? Coaching upsales from your broke internet surfers are an average of $3,000-$5,000. And .5% of people that buy a bizopp product, buy the coaching.

But its besides the point. Your shit is just as scammy as anyone elses. Call it what you want. But you are just sellin the dream like everyone else.....just that your hustle involves ugly fat chicks on the edge of suicide.

Sleep well

Don't bother, 95% of the idiots here cant read anyways.

Seriously man LOL

I enjoy this discussion though, just don't enjoy getting accused for saying stuff I didn't say.

Anyway, I've had the chance to work the the "students" of these Guru products and this has been my experience: 99% of the people fail, 1% make money. If this was a true scam, it should be 100% of the people fail.

Consider this:
- You purchase a 12 month gym membership, the ads promise you that if you follow 3 simple steps, you will lose weight. You go to the gym 5 times in the 12 month period and don't put in the work required to get results. Is it fair to conclude that you've been scammed by a gym?

Then come on people! You HAVE to function in the buyer's own work ethic when it comes to guru products. I just have a problem with people lumping all guru's into the same pot. Looks like a bunch of you have a problem w/ the article lumping internet marketing into 1 giant pot.. same idea.

Last time: I never said scamming people for $40 is cool BTW. I simply said that scamming 1 person for $20k is DIFFERENT (but not OK) than scamming someone for $40. Please stop putting words in my mouth. Magnitude puts the larger $ value scam into it's own category. It's like theft fines, there's minor and there's major: none of it is OK but we do treat them differently. Same kind of idea.. anyway this is my opinion and feel free to disagree with me.

Morally, its not OK to scam people based on false promises but fuck, you might as well build everything yourself, not wear clothes and grow your own food then b/c a HUGE chunk of every day life is accompanied with false promises.

We're scamming people for $0/month because POF is free? Plus, it's not like people don't get results from joining POF, I know a bunch of guys in the industry that have.. "gotten results" from POF. Had our site been filled with bullshit fake profiles, then it's fair to call it a scam but that's not the truth. You don't get 41 million people on the site and become the top dating site in Brazil in 7 months by scamming. The scammiest shit on our site are the ads that you guys post LOL, cmon lets be honest.

Sorry I had no idea how coaching upsells work so I admit my own ignorance there, was just going by the figures presented by the article.

Gurus = bad
Grants360 rebilling poor people $100 after 24hrs = good

am i doing this right?

You're such an idiot sometimes.. But hey, remember when you tried to snag all of the IP's of everyone visiting WickedFire so you could use it for that super secret and magical product called LP Lockdown?? Because I do! And how awesome did that turn out? If I remember correctly, everyone had been calling for your head. You made a whole sorry post about it, and who came and took your side? Me.

Or what about the time you made that deal with AdValiant (MediaTrust now) for the higher referral points, and to promote how far superior their network was compared to everyone else? Or how you were paid to talk shit about other networks and offers (I think we call that bribery?) Nawww that's not censorship or bias. Did Harvard teach you that too?

Or maybe selling the diet products in the media buys that you always talk about? How much were you charging the customers? $97? Maybe we should take a look into those rebills or even the chargeback rates? I bet they are chock full of entertaining info.

Oh wait I know, you're probably better than everyone here because you got Lauren Conrad's permission to use her in your ads on Facebook and Myspace. Yeah.... That must be it. Sorry Nicky, you are just such a fantastic role model. You have NEVER done anyyyything bad or questionable...

See.. its one thing if you take a jab at me and have your story right and nothing to hide if someone were to come back, its entirely different if you think I'll just let it go and let you get away with being a jerkoff.

I built a solid company and then sold it. I can go into detail about the entire thing, from start to finish, and I won't look bad either, not because I'd be holding back details, but because I went the extra mile to do shit right, even if it meant spending more time and money, it was still done well. Was it right to charge people nearly $60/mo? We thought so.

I wonder though...
Did you know that we stopped billing them after 3 months?
Did you also know that we never bothered with upselling them or doing anything with our partials?
Did you know that we never fought the few chargebacks we avg'ed in the first place?
Did you know we issued refunds full and partial all the time without any hidden crap behind it?
Did you know that we retained a lower than 1% cb rate the ENTIRE time?
Did you know that we were the only company to ever be scrutinized for two weeks straight by Microsoft's legal team before being approved to do media buys on their display network?
Do you even know how product development, REAL customer support, billing support, or card processing works with domestic and EU acquirers?

No. I don't think you know a fucking thing about any of it. You can pretend up to a point. But when you get cocky, and start thinking your shit doesn't stink, that's when you're going to get your head smashed into it. So take a deep breath. Enjoy it. Learn from this mistake. If you would have bothered to ask then maybe I wouldn't have to reveal this here and embarrass you by schooling you here.

So before you or anyone else for that matter decides to go off trying to make me look like a scumbag, you should get the facts right and sorted first, and then figure out "is this worth starting up with Jon because I'm a bored twat face today?" and you had also make DAMN SURE you don't have any shit you're hiding because I will find it and out it just the way you THINK you're doing to me.

So. Do you want to be friends and let all of this go, or do you want to keep at it? Because I don't like doing this, but I will NOT take shit from anyone. Online or offline.

In the wise words of Morgan Thomas.. DO YOU KNOW WHO THE FUCK I AM!?!?

lulz

Turned out great. Still have happy customers. The only people who bitched were whiny babies on wickedfire who I never promoted to in the first place.

I promoted advaliant cause they had good offers that I ran myself. Nobody has ever paid me to talk shit about another network. Stop lying.

Just pointing out your hypocritical shit, no need to try and divert to someone else. I never claimed to be promoting the most legit shit, and that's why you don't see me making this op.

Y so mad? Can always talk shit, can never take it.

60 minutes? win an award? If you are gonna rat people out like a douche at least give us some real info. Frank Kern and Jeremy Johnson...or as he "reports", Jeremy "Johnston", that hardly scrapes the surface of actual journalism and reporting.

I mean at least tell us about Jon Fisher and his Google Treasure Chest of Dieting Grant Elves

...Yeah I'd like to know more about that one, Ryder. Or maybe you can delve into the wonderful world of being a data broker so everyone can see how you run your business deals? I hear its one hell of a theme park wonderland of customer data filters and gleaming towers of partials.

I agree though, it is kinda funny how its spelled Johnston.

Is Jeremy Johnson really that bad? I don't think so. Certainly not in comparison with Chad Elie or even Dee. By comparison, Jeremy JohnsTon certainly didn't seem like the calculated mastermind behind that entire bunch of years and plans. I think he just got caught up and started to believe his own bullshit. But.. that's not our fight. We didn't enjoy those spoils because we are not him or them. We focus on the shit we do, and we all play by our own rules and within our own risk. Or at least I hope we all do. And if not.. well, fuck it.. Then I hope some investigative journalist writes about it someday.

It's different when I scam people, because the gurus do it for greed.

I do it for sexual arousal, which is a far purer motive. I'm not a money grubber, I just like to lie in bed at night thinking of the delightful tears that old widow will shed as the repo men come for her home, and condemn her to a destitute life of giving toothless wrinkly blowjobs to truck drivers to survive.

It's like the difference between robbing a tramp to get some meth money, or setting them on fire to get your rocks off.

One is despicable, the other noble.

Aha. NOW we see the truth.
