The Bullshit Side of the Internet Marketing Guru Industry

If you want to get super technical... almost any marketing that is for profit can be considered a scam if looked at in the harshest light. The main difference is are you intentionally fucking people or ruining their lives or not?

How many nights did you stay up awake, haunted by the cries of scammed-Grannies, before you came up with THAT justification?

I sleep well at night but I'm aware that some people will think what I do is a scam. As long as I know I'm trying to help and not hurt, naysayers and negative people can fuck off

Speaking of scammy advertisers......... check out some of the banners that made it into rotation.

Omfg. I don't see the banners because of my premium membership, so I log out, and see this:

Let's consider a plumber who advertises online to replace customers gas boilers and does so for a fee.

Or a seo service that brings in that plumber 100 leads per month.

They are legit services. There are many more of them.

Those products that rip people off generally hype up the products that buyers have no clue about.

I could whip up a content marketing product claiming that it's gonna bag someone heaps of cash, but there's no dignity in it.

Meh... If Mary has her number decal on her car for her baking company, I wouldn't consider that a scam.

I don't mean any marketing action could be considered a scam, but I'm sure a person could find some aspect of her overall marketing a scam... for instance people consider a lot of Mcdonald's healthy menu options a scam because of their calorie content or ingredients. When CVS stopped selling cigarettes to promote health, some people consider them claiming to promote health was a scam because they still sold soda and other unhealthy items.

Now I think you're just trolling

I've been on WF 5 years, and what constitutes "acceptable marketing" here still confuses the heck out of me. Let me get this straight:

1. Selling sign-ups to hook-up dating sites full of pretend women (but no real ones) = good
2. Selling worthless weight loss products to people desperate to lose weight = good
3. Selling bullshit government grants packages to people desperate to make money = good
4. Selling payday loans to people who will never be able to pay them back = good
5. Selling worthless marketing materials to people desperate to make money online= bad

Am I missing something?

I think what makes these particular salesmen more off-putting to people is the hubris(perceived or otherwise) that comes with putting your face/image out there as an 'expert' of something- the idea of a person of lower ethical values or intelligence putting themselves atop a pedestal and reaping the adulation of others who don't know better, based ostensibly on their self-professed mastery at spotting opportunities.
