Great thread! I'm trying this now, but obviously doing something wrong -- 3 clicks from 442 impressions?

This is my first try with PPC. Any idea what's wrong? I don't think my ad is that bad. I've basically used my poll question (which is related to some entertainment news controversy) as my title and included the offer for a $500 gas card in the ad, pretty much like SEODave did. The natural search results running alongside mine are on the same topic so I think my keyword targeting is pretty good. Anyone? :(

You are doing much better than me. A campaign I started this morning has 3 click with 17,000 impressions. Think my first offer sucked and rotating two other offers in the mix now. Hope those help.

Well it's hard to tell.. Many factors... Is the entertainment scandal more geared towards kids, adults?

You'll likely have a higer bounce rate of 16-18y/o's that don't drive as much as someone in a higer age range most likely to be driving. Maybe use the regular visa offer for $500, anyone can use it...

Although I think this will help you in more clicks, I don't know how much of an impact it will play on your site.

Change the offer, no one wants gas no matter what you see or hear on TV, people want to keep up with the jones's offer them a iphone, or clothing gift card, or something designer, american consumers want to buy shit, thats all, they dont care about saving money, or daily expenses like gas.. only older people care, and they arent online that much.

Another golden nugget, thanks Mike, and big thanks to Dave for the thread, when shit is spelled out like this i tend to follow through with it....

Much grass, senor.

I gave it a go, spent $1 made $1, with 15 cent bids, I was working on getting that down to 5 cents, but google gave me a poor qs so I had to stop short. Once I can get my qs straight this should make a decent buck. Something like $50-100 a day on the words I'm using.

Thanks.

This happened to me too. I'm not sure how to improve my QS on that little poll site though. :(

The voting concept will not get you kicked off zip/email submits in our network, i cant speak for the other networks out there.

Crap, I initially read this as ".. will get you kicked off.."
Instant heart attack.

:eek: :error::eek:

I wish I could get .15 bids. Yesterday I tried bidding on Steve Fossett keywords and the G kept hitting me with $10 bids...wtf! I was surprised since no one is bidding on his name and I had privacy policy, link to wikipedia, contact, etc.

You do anything special to get your bids down?

Mine are all between .05 & .10 and they're actors names, or include actors names, names of shows, etc. Funny Steve Fossett would be so high.

It's only been about a day for me. I have two up and the conversions stink. One has like 50 clicks from 7,000 impressions (including about 4,500 from the content network). The other has 30 from about 800 impressions (from Google). I'm losing them at the landing page too. Only about 20 of those 80 have bothered to click the poll, and only 4 of those have bothered with the zip submit. Why click an ad that says vote in a poll for a $500 Visa card if you're not going to actually bother to vote? *sigh*

I am still wondering about the ROI.
Anyone care to show me the calculations?

This thread has a few hundred views, don't you guys think the idea is watered down? Chances are many of you will not make money at this exact idea unless you find something unique, how about UK news? there are UK email submits. Princess Diana is probably a big search in the UK

It was mentioned somewhere that once Google has given your LP a QS, it takes a couple weeks sometimes for that QS to be reevaluated. So, if you didn't have those items on your LP when you began your campaign and inititially received a low QS, now that you have added them it still may be a while before your QS improves. Try moving it to a different address how Google treats it as a new site, and re-setup the campaign.

I just signed up with copeac and Im goona try this out today!!

I got a new domain for the job. Question about QS: would this be a good way to keep it high: landing page= site.com/keywords-you-are-bidding-on.htm , links to privacy policy, and Iframing the offer after they vote?

Would it be possible to make it so they do see the results of the poll after the zip/email submit? (give em an incentive to complete?)

Thanks guys
