Is it me or does it seem like there are less people "shooting the shit" on here these days? I used to hit the new posts button and have 2 or 3 pages of the freshy freshy. Now it seems there are only 4-5 new posts a day.
As guerilla mentioned, (1) the summer slowdown is in effect and (2) when everyone is making gobs of cash without effort, it's easier to let your hair down and have a good time. Fewer folks are in the latter situation today than was the case a few years ago.
Also, consider: STS has devolved into offering the type of entertainment that becomes boring very quickly to certain types of people. Trashing introduction threads, attacking peweps, and railing against folks perceived as gurus, retards, or scum - from the Warrior Forum to Drew Myers - are the flavors du jour.
For some, that stuff never gets old. They can do it all day long and remain content. For others, like myself, it's like watching paint dry. As folks like myself become less active or leave, we're replaced by those who crave easy amusement.
Nothing inherently wrong with that. It's a common trend seen in forums where the doors remain unlocked. Everyone is welcome, everyone has a mic, and few people are afraid to use it. So, the signal-to-noise ratio declines.
Here's some perspective...
Believe it or not, the Warrior Forum was actually a pretty cool place back in 2000. The discussions about marketing - offline and on - were interesting, even exciting.
