Hey all,

Good post! Just a thought, how about researching new businesses that have recently registered a DBA name (public record) for your area and sending them information about your services. What do you think?

Thanks for the thread!

You guys have inspired me BIG TIME! I am going to do this. I have researched this before but didn't think there was any money in it. Thank you for helping me see this in a different light!

Take care,

T

Most folks won't take the time to do this, but that's what sets the successful folks apart... Get a list of new businesses opened each month. you can find several places where you can get this info.

Send them a postcard, followed up by a phone call. The success rate is astronomical. New business owners are ready to take on the world.

Darn! vn bttr than th 100k post. It kpps gtting bttr. Although I don't undstand all of it yt, this sounds gnius. Thank you.

One idea would be to go to the services directory for your metro area on craigslist. I wrote a scraper that pulls the recent ads and scrapes the contact information. any businesses that post ads in the services section obviously care about internet marketing and making a presence on the internet, they might be more open to your proposals.

Damn Good idea right there....

Similar to the directory business post by CorrectAD a while ago but with a clever spin. That's why WF is my favorite forum. Smart people who'll take ideas and expand/refine them, then share and can clear doubts in this forum

Hi,

I read the thread with growing interest.

I live in a town called Ostend in Belgium. I´ll be trying a slightly different approach. I'm interested in your opinion.

I'll buy a domainname: www.eteninoostende.be
translated: www.eatinginostend.be
(.be stands for belgium)

google results for "eten in oostende"
"eating in ostend"

"eten in oostende" - Google zoeken

I'll make a nice site on that domain also with a top 10 restaurant listing in Ostend. Then i will send a letter to like 100 restaurants with the following proposition:
(possibly with a call afterwards)

1ste place- 200€ / year
2nd place - 190€ / year
3rd place - 180€ / year
4th place - 170€ / year
5th place - 160€ / year
6th place - 150€ / year
7th place - 140€ / year
8th place - 130€ / year
9th place - 120€ / year
10th place - 110€ / year

of course with a good sales letter why the should order a package (how many clients they are missing out on by not being on the list).

would this be a good approach you guy think?
I can repeat this for every big city in Belgium.

Thanks, I took it a step further....
Went to some of the local Chamber of Commerce sites and many of them have a membership directory. I scraped their directory, got contact names, phone, fax website and even email addresses.... some of the member's websites had "Powered by Yellowpages.com" types of footer icons, so you know they're used to paying $80+/- per month as it is.

*cough* referral spam *cough*

Oh man consistency and not giving up. And getting the right strategies.

For total beginners, go on this link here to make your first $10 online.
For intermediate, test. And go on forums. Test again.
For advanced, don't know, haven't been there yet :)

Just wanted to give an update:

Got my site coming along. Dumped WPMU for now. I will use it with the upgraded sales options. New site is being built with a popular link directory software with some tweaks. Also found the secret sauce to help get my site in the news. Think everything will be in place by the end of this month. Hope to make $100 this month (June).

Sure. Take a shot and see what happens. Package it properly and I'm sure you'll do just fine. You can always adjust on the fly.

What are you guys using to create the social side of this? Drupal? WP? Joom? I'm already heavy into this idea, but I'm having problems with what I want to use to accomplish this task. I know most of the site will be relatively static... phone numbers and addresses usually dnt change.

Thanks

Josh

hi there all.

@ kimboslice: when you are targeting on longtail keywords, does it mean people (google searches) are searching for those keywords as well in Google? Since I can understand when targeting a longtail keyword is not convincing the potential client you will sell the page to them.

For instance when it's easy to get a longtail keyword in the first serp of google, it will barely get any traffic, right?

I'm using an extremely hacked up version of Wordpress.

I was thinking of that but, if I e-mail them wouldn't that be spamming?

Kimbo:

You're the one who did the hacking? Or paid to have it hacked? Or is it floating around somewhere for me to snag.

Thanks!

Josh

It's a custom solution. I do as much as I can and pay someone from scriptlance or getafreelancer when i get in over my head.
