Kimbo:

#1) I promise if you share... I won't delve into your local area :)

#2) that is an excellent idea to redirect it to your site.

#3) was curious to know *what* your services are that allow you to charge $2k / customer... but I guess that ties in with not revealing your "twist". I imagine you could charge for multiple first page rankings, possible upsells would be to create them their own proprietary website, logo design, a video, and other advertising means (create a youtube video of their service and optimize it, writing articles about their company and submitting it to article directories)

#4) so does this mean you are doing this full time then?

again, appreciate the feedback! :)

Kimbo... #1) if you tell me, I'll promise not to delve into your local area :)

#2) smart idea to redirect it back to your site

#3) how are you charging $2k / client? I imagine there are many possible upsells for advertising their company, and what is the duration that you promise your service?

#4) absolutely agree with you that you can take this anywhere...

and again, thanks for taking the time to reply... appreciate it!

First post here, 54 year old dog trying to learn this stuff, anybody want to take the time to teach this dog new tricks I have no idea how to do what you layout on this post but as far as selling this outside would be a no brainer outside sales is all I have done all my working days. So go ahead and rail on me if you must I have heard it all can't hurt me but if anyone wants to give me a hand I can teach you sales pitch and hooks to close your prospects...

One of the main ideas of this thread is that you're marketing to small business's wansoonge, and this internet thing is a huge opportunity that every one of their COMPETITORS will be cashing in on if they don't, since this is a limited time offer until you move on to the next person in that (insert niche) business.

so heres how i see the basic idea of this. Theres millions of small business's out there trying to get an edge. you can setup a small ppc campaign to get on page one till you get the hang of the seo, hopefully costing you little to nothing because its a pretty small to mid sized city and won't be getting too many searches anyways. The genious of this idea is the scarcity thats created during ur sales presentation. It gives the owner a fight or flight kinda mindset as soon as you mention their competition. hope this helps.

I'm saying too much as it is...

Add value for your clients and do what you say you'll do and you'll have no problem selling higher ticket items. Figure how how many extra visitors you can get them. Figure out how many convert. Figure out what each conversion equals in real dollars to your client. Now tell them they are losing that money by not going with your service.

#4) so does this mean you are doing this full time then?

I already have an office where I run a few businesses from. Not all wildly profitable unfortunately...

again, appreciate the feedback! :)

Do you mean that this venture we are discussing has not been wildly profitable? Or are you talking about your other business ventures?

Techustle, not to be a jerk, but don't you think you're prying? I think it's pretty obvious from this thread anyway that he's kicking ass with this. If you really want to find out if it works, you've gotta go out and do it yourself.

Whoa!
Just found a niche of local svcs where where one large metro area has a keyword with
KEI of 12100 and 1000 searches/24hrs.

A high KEI can be very misleading sometimes. You still have to check the sites that rank on the first page for those keywords. If all 10 spots are taken up from aged domains with tons of back-links it will be tough to beat them out.

1 Google Backlink

The number one organic result for my preferred keyword (not localized) has 1 Google backlink and 8 Yahoo links.

Sneak Move

The son of one of my friends works for a company that sell "get your real estate website on the first page of google" for $3000. His kid sells 3 a day. One guy in their office does 5-10. From the way he described it, their company gets a #1 listing and then you go to their website, do a search for the city or zip code. I was amazed that people were paying for this but they are. Big company, several phone salesmen.

It will be interesting to see how many of the people "who had the same idea" actually do anything with it.

Do I understand you correctly that the company ranks their own page then lets the client do a search internally on their directory for placement or have I missed it ? IF I have please just rephrase the answer for me
