Anyone Stoked for Apple's Tablet Release?

Backpack, your girls purse. Also, I might add, it's impossible to watch video on a netbook/laptop and shit at the same time. Since this has one screen, you can just hang it on the wall, and do the damn thing.

Also, calendar and contacts rock. I don't know many people who store their calendar and contacts on their netbook and then keep lugging it around.

It'll be nice for showing photos/videos to friends. If all else fails, it'll make a nice $500 picture frame. This is on par, if not better than the other tablets that are out there at least. And is made for a different use than a netbook

like on a scale of computing tasks, it be iPhone/Blackberry/Zune > iPad > Netbook > Laptop > Desktop

It's for shit that's too awkward to do with a netbook/laptop or a phone/ipod. Granted, that's not a pretty big space. But it's enough for someone to spend $500 to fill. Plus, Apple products drop boxer briefs. Every time.

So what you are saying is... if you want to make a call; you will ask your girlfriend to dig this thing out of her purse while you are pulling out your iphone, balance your phone on the ipad while pulling up the contact and, like a waiter balances a tray, type the number in to your phone.

awesome.

where can I buy one?

EDIT: Didn't see cakes already said the same thing essentially. Regardless... reread your post as you sound like you have a redonkulous hard on for this thing.

suggested retail price
$499 (US) for the 16GB model
$599 (US) for the 32GB model
$699 (US) for the 64GB model

The Wi-Fi + 3G models suggested retail price
$629 (US) for the 16GB model
$729 (US) for the 32GB model
$829 (US) for the 64GB model

Let's stop with the $499 BS. $829 for one app at a time and only 64GB. Add tax and AppleCare to make it just over a thousand. Seems too much for too little, but Amazon better move quick or it will get run over.

Locked to AT&T (who is pushing their 3G network) and no 3G on the models that are marked for the masses. :conehead:

Can you even access the iTunes store without Wi-Fi?

All said still will be in the store to check it out unless someone close comes up with one before the date. Never "know" until you actually work with it, but so fair this fails the sniff test.

Not a kindle killer because kindle already has an iphone app.

I've read tons of books on CRT and LCD monitors.

More concerned about carpel tunnel from holding the thing up or trying to type on the screen.

I pretty much do. Other people just aren't looking at it from the correct angle yet. Unfortuntely, it'll need to be jailbroken and aht not.

your all forgetting one key point.

95% of technology users are fucktards.

How many friends/family members pc's have you set up/sorted out etc when they have bought a new pc or fucked up the one their using? give em something simple that works out the box and 95% of people will be as happy as a pig in shit.
as already said most iphone users believe that its the shit and the first to do touch screen etc etc. anyone with half a brain knows this to be utter bollocks but apple have still sold a shit ton of them globally

i have an iphone 3g and its is nowhere near as capable as my old HTC tytn2, it doesnt even come close in features and specs but damn me if the fucking thing doesnt just work every time i pick it up. do i miss multitasking, true gps etc, no not really and i really dont miss rebooting the fucking thing at least once a day cos i've hacked the shit out of it.
yeah its simple and lacks a shit load of stuff but hey it turns out i dont need most of that shit anyways. and frankly i'll swap it for a device that just works.

regarding the ipad, could it have been better, hell yeah but given that the fucktards who will buy it in droves have never seen the inside of a pc, never tweaked, replaced, overclocked, hacked or otherwise done anything remotely interesting with their technology it will be perfect for them. Internet check, photos check, itunes check. how many netbook/laptop users really do anything other than that anyway.

will i buy one, probably but not until gen 2 or 3, will it replace my netbook no fucking way but it may just be the perfect sofa surfer lets see what happens.

oh and yeah kindle is fucked, ipad will appeal to all the casual users leaving kindle with a niche market, they'll make money but they aint going to be huge. end off

If this makes the iphone drop in price. that'll be one good thing to come out of it.

Can hardly see the value of the top of the line ipad when its the same price as the entry level macbook.

there is no value, its not apples model to provide value. its a status symbol and therefore commands a premium price.

clever bastards at apple they really are

sell lower spec for a higher price but make it look pretty and tell people its worth it and lo and behold.....if you hype it they will buy it.

genius

What I really wanted to see today was a AirBook that was snapped in half and the screen mounted tablet style with touch capabilities.

The fact that this crossed your mind as a possibility shows a clear lack of understanding of the industrial design process at Apple.

ever hear of a backpack?

who the hell brings a backpack to a baseball game?

oh wait, you're right, it's the cool thing to do.

One thing that was funny about the presentation was that there was a serious lack of excitement and applause in the audience. I've seen these things before and they're usually filled with much more applause and cheers when the audience sees something cool.
They were happy or thrilled about very little in that presentation.
Jobs: Isn't this cool guys?
Audience: <silence>

The fact that it cant multitask makes this no replacement for a netbook whatsoever. The maemo os on the nokia tablets have multitasking and porting linux apps to maemo is meant to be very easy. I'm looking at the n900 now.

LOL

two reasons why I don't think this will do that great.

one is the kindle has a market, that e-ink is really easy on the eyes.

second reason is the lenovos are very similar and windows compatible.

This just has 'suck' written all over it.

At the very least I'd want Snow Leopard or some custom form of OSX running on it. Using the iPhone OS, good as it is on the iPhone, is a dealbreaker.

Apple are just trying to fill a gap that isn't even there.

I really don't see the point. In addition, everyone holding one of those things just looks like a midget holding an iPhone....

:R:

After reading through this thread, I've vow to buy an iPad day one. I always go against the grain anyways and that's why I've always been successful.

the only benefit I can see coming from this thing is if you purchase it on the release date, and then whip that bitch out in public, all the hunnies will be flockin
