Anyone here play Eve?

That's a great story Fiksie, but you gotta fly in a danger clone! Even in lowsec, a lot of people will pod you.

Yeah, those were the thrashers with insta lock, most likely with 2 sensor boosters. I know that because I used one of those in my corp fittings when we went to gank the high sec industrials :). Gate guns couldn't help me because I forgot that I had aggression timer from earlier.

Next time, try to split them, head back to the gate, and jump thru after they attack. If one has aggression he won't be able to follow until his timer runs down.

Tbh, I don't like lowsec mechanics very much. I am spoiled from playing in null, where basically anything goes.

----------------------------
For the couple of Eve guys here
----------------------------

So there is a war on for anyone who doesn't know. It's probably the biggest war for 2013 with Goonswarm and the CFC invading Fountain.

The CFC has to take new space due to the resource shakeup in Odyssey. Their finances are strained, and while they are the biggest coalition in the game, financial trouble can end them very quickly.

Test is holding Fountain and Delve, and has revealed secret allies after the CFC invaded, those allies being Pandemic Legion, Northern Coalition, Nulli Secunda, Scrap Iron, Black Legion as well as Tribal Band.

2 nights ago, Test killed 2 CFC Supercarriers (Nyxes) and several Carriers. Black Legion destroyed 2 CSAAs in the north, each with a baby Titan in build. Those babies were aborted with extreme prejudice.

Then Black Legion wiped out approx 80 Tempest Fleet Issues.

Estimates are putting the CFC losses in the last 48 hours at over 300 billion ISK.

Despite putting a licking on the CFC, the Mittani has now deployed Razor to Fountain, and changed their communications to prevent Test from deploying capital support (slowcats) and PL supers to defend structures.

It is down to a battle of wills, who will keep logging in, who will spend their every last ISK, who is willing to be the hero and jump their frigate into 300 battleships in order to plant a flag before near-instantly dying in fire.

On a somewhat related E3 side note, CCP made an Oculus Rift (VR headgear) demo and had it running on a hacked together 1080p rift. There was a lot of hype and people getting their mind blown. Can't wait to try it out.

I love Eve. I have two PC's running in my office for it. It's tough. I'm not going to lie and say the learning curve was nuts, but I was grandfathered in, and it helped.

Guerilla are you in an Alliance? I wasn't home for that dogfight yesterday but watching all of the vids gives me a cosmo-boner.

Time dilation yesterday was pretty bad, we spent that entire fight under max tidi and it took like 5~8 minutes to cycle a mod.

CCP population capped the system or we could have easily had 6,000 guys in there because NC. and the N3 wanted to jump in and play too.

Despite losing, we did get a very nice Titan kill a few hours later that took some of the sting off.

I am in Test Alliance Please Ignore. We're the front line of that war.

This was one of the cooler fights from the war.

For anyone wondering, those squares you see are tactical brackets, if you zoom in you can see the enemy ships but that view is so far zoomed out (to see the field) each ship looks like a little icon only.

I just remembered I was at this fight. We dunked so hard that day. It was amazing.

We almost didn't get the cyno lit to bring in the dreadnoughts. Once they landed it was over. Blap blap blap.

If you haven't seen this NCdot video, it's really well done

I don't play Eve but I find the world fascinating. Kind of reminds me of Ender's Game for some reason, maybe this is the future of combat.

So Pandemic Legion won Alliance Tournament XI after an amazing comeback against H.ydra Reloaded.

PL was down 0-2 and came back to win 3 straight matches, the 5th match a nailbiter, to secure the series and their first title in 3 years.

I'll post links to the matches once they are available, it probably won't make sense to people who don't play Eve, but if you do, there were over 20,000 people watching the finals match today and everyone in game was talking about it as it went on.

So the corp I am in has left Test. There is an article up about it on TMC.

We don't have a destination set yet, waiting for offers to come in from interested alliances although there aren't a lot of choices for a group our size (200+). That and many nullsec alliances in Eve suck outside PL, Goons, Razor, NCdot etc.

This is the final match from the Alliance Tournament championship where PL (Pandemic Legion) completed the 0-2 comeback to win 3 straight matches and the title against Hydra Reloaded.

Was an amazing match. Went right down to the wire. Banning the Sleipnir was genius and won PL the match before it even started.

(Teams can choose to ban two ship types from the match before it starts, this forces people to alter their fleet comps and may undermine some setups)

i was at the pool today and this thread crossed my mind. i was taking a break, and it occurred to me as i caught some rays amongst hot chicks in bikinis that i could be playing eve, and suddenly i felt gulity.

ok, i'm totally lying, i wasn't thinking about eve while i was at the pool, i was catching rays, ogling tits, and laughing about eve people crafting their next rebuttal.

I saw on the unity forum posted that EVE shows a demo using Unity game engine and the oculus rift:

^that makes me moist.

Looks like it's going to be a separate game though? I'd be all over that if they found a way to integrate it to Eve proper. I love space dogfighting and I'm a pretty good fighter pilot. Flying capital ships just isn't fun for me though.

Really I'm waiting for Star Citizen. When it comes out I expect my productivity to take a huge hit for a while.

It started off as an after hours project coding something up to play with the Occulus Rift, and then it just became a real "thing".

I don't think it will be integrated because you'd need everyone playing with the same gear, and it will be hard to get a couple hundred thousand people using Rifts to fly their ships, although that may be the future of Eve and VR anyway.
