true story:
I had a roommate in college who was a really nice but very shy guy. He was a virgin and never had a girlfriend. One night right as we're going to bed he asks me "how does it work?" It took me a bit to get the full question out of him but basically he admitted he didn't know how to have sex or how to convince a girl to have sex with you. I was pretty shocked but decided to be cool about it because he's one of those ultra nice guys that you really have to watch what you say around him. If you even joke about something it could hurt his feelings and he'd stress it for days until you convinced him beyond a shadow of a doubt that you were just kidding. It was an all night conversation. I drew diagrams, humped my pillow in pretty much every position. We went through every little detail from meeting the girl and saying hi all the way through proper bailing after the deed.
The very next night he's gone. I'm starting to worry and checking the usual sesh places. He shows up around 4am with a shit eatin grin on his face.

Well yeah, both concepts are fluid. Personally I don't like to use terms like alpha and beta because our society and behaviors humans use have evolved past having alphaness/betaness be a major importance in success of ones life.
However, generally speaking alphas are leaders and betas are followers if you extrapolate from animals that live in packs/groups and are highly social.
If you look at any leader in any social situation they'll usually have common characteristics. Voice projection is usually a sign of someone that's assuming alpha role in that social context because if you're afraid of talking leadership it's harder to project your voice (beta), whereas if you're confident in your "alpha role" you won't have such doubts.
Just my take on this.
A good example of betas who get high quality punanny is those Korean guys that are so feminine it's beyond ridiculous. Yet girls are all over them. Same in Japan I think.
That's mainly because women are mostly stupid & easily influenced by the people around them. Bieber is a good example of such phenomenon.
Fact is, most of these young girls have never been in a relationship before, once they tried one of these 'beta' males, they'll dump them in a heartbeat and will start hunting for real men.

The issue isn't whether your story is true or not, but its never been WF culture to brag.
Eli told a story where his buddy did good, and he was there to facilitate it. Stories like that are why he is a legend in this industry (he puts other people first). It's probably true and he knows how to tell it.

Clearly you've never paid for sex - the benefits are numerous. Not going to get into a debate about relationships vs prostitution though. And not sure where you get the impression of having "flat out given up" - it's just a matter of personal choice. It actually tends to be the sexually/socially inexperienced ones that have a rose-colored view of "natural" picking up and attraction - they'll soon learn that it gets old quick if you make that a significant part of your life.
It's precisely because there are so many fine things to enjoy in life that some people choose to fulfill their sexual needs in a transactional manner - that way it becomes "compartmentalized", easy to manage and they can live life to its fullest (like climbing Mount Everest if that's what rocks the particular gentleman's boat). I completely understand where you're coming from, but it's about a different allocation of, should I say, "brainpower"? I've tried the "acting alpha and pua" stuff and found that yes it works if you work it, but the amount of energy that was going into it was taking away from more productive areas of my life. Sure for those who find it comes more naturally and requires less effort and actually enjoy it I say more power to you, but not everyone is wired the same way - different people have different psychological priorities/strengths/weaknesses.
