Who's gotten LASIK done before?

I have -1 (It is the layman term.. not sure what it is called) but I have had constant -1 for over 12 years now... Am used to glasses, but I am waiting for some non invasive, non-side-effect treatment to come out...

Did it years ago, excellent results. Eyes not perfect but good enough. I thought it was dodgy to do it again because of the flap, I guess that's healed now though so might see if I can have it done again to try and get it perfect.

My wife had her eyes done roughly 8 years ago and paying for that surgery was one of the worst mistakes of my life.

I had her convinced that I had a huge dick ..... FUCKING LASIK

Gonna be getting it done soon, I hope. I'm fuckin sick of wearing contacts, and I'm only 20 lol.

I will get some kind of operation for my eyes, but a very valid alternative is that of an implantable contact lens. At least if they fuck that up your eyes arent damaged permanently.

Anyone here get advanced surface treatment? It's supposed to be a lot better and safer than LASIK. I know two people who've had it done a year ago and they're loving having it done.

You can ask just about anyone who wears contacts what it was like at the start, it was exactly like that. It doesn't feel natural at first. I remember it taking like an hour just to get them in when I first started out with them. You eye wants nothing to do with it, and does what it can to reject it. But after like a week or so you'll adjust and then it's gravy. Added benefit of being able to poke yourself in the eye I guess.

Yeah, I had the same experience.. after about 6 years of wearing contacts every day though I can now put them both in after a few seconds without a mirror, lol. You get used to it pretty quickly.

I love my contacts, I'll probably never get laser crap done. My dad's girlfriend got hers done, she had VERY bad eyesight, THICK THICK glasses kind of bad, and after 4 years, now she has little floaties in her eyes that fucks with her vision. Hard to explain, but fuck that.

I'd never do it. I use daily disposable lenses. I see no reason to risk going blind or even get complications which are considered "regular" like dry eyes or halos...

What's wrong with just using contacts?

i am the one also searching for lasik now a days, results are promising but the problem is with the procedure thing as eyes are one of the most sensitive parts, what would you guys like to recommend me should i go for it? i am little afraid...
Find someone who'll do it one eye at a time. Then at least you'll get to wear an eye patch like a pirate if something goes wrong.

I had it done 10 years ago. I wasn't a fan of the actual procedure, freaked the shit out of me even though it didn't hurt, but I could already read the name of the machine as I was stumbling out of the surgery. when I woke up the next day I was seeing color levels and depth of field that I didn't even know existed.

Do they still cut the shielding off your eyes for the op? Just wondering, considering it.

Yes they do. IMO it's well worth it. I was around -5, so terrible, needed glasses / contacts for anything beyond not getting run over. OP, it will take a few months to fully stabalise, but within a day or 2 I could function normally. Cost me £2700 (Americans multiply by 1.6).

A year later it's fine except if for if I use screens a load, my right eye weakens slightly at night. Solution: regular breaks and optional eye drops.

Yeah my main concern was that it's invasive, even though you can't feel it they are cutting a slice off the base of your eye. And the whole itching and red eye thing that a percentage (albeit very small) experience is enough to put me off.

Just woke up for the first time in the morning. Being able to see the time on my clock was crazy. My first thought was 'shit, did i forget to take out my contacts?'

Freakin. Awesome.

This sounds great what kind of visibility you had before? + or in -

Had it done about 12 years ago. Some of the money I've spent. Wife drove home and I'll I could say was holy shit look at that & holy shit look at that, etc.

Still 20/15 (better than 20/20 vision) and no real issues.

LOL did it last year. Best $3000 i've ever spent on anything. Ever.

1 eye isn't perfect 20/20 but with both eyes open I am 20/15

Shit, that's how I felt when I first started using monthlies (contacts) because you can sleep in them.

If I had that every day... gah. I'd be a happy man.

PS - Mattseh told me they don't have to cut your eye open if they have some sort of laser way to do it. I'll be probably scheduling a consultation now.

They cut a flap, zap your eyes, then lay the flap back down to heal.

Basically... don't watch any videos of it being done and you'll be ok.

they give you a vicodin too before the procedure to relax you.

Seriously.... just do it. You WON'T regret it.

-4 and -4.25

I was under the laser for just over 40 seconds while some of the other people in the post-op room were saying they were only under for 10-15. I was clearly the blindest in the bunch

Also, just to note this as well, I am in no discomfort at all. Granted, I am on a tightly regimented eye drop schedule. They give you 3 different types of eye drops to use. One is breakfast, lunch, dinner, and before you go to sleep. The other two are breakfast and dinner. You also have eye lube drops you can use whenever you want. After one week, the regularly scheduled eye drops goes down from 3 different types per day to 1 per day.
