Standing Desk?

Old thread but I just saw a kickstarted for a standing desk this morning. I have a manual one which I've never lowered but this looks good

Lost track of how long it's been, somewhere around 3 months I think? Did the ghetto ikea table/shelf upgrade you see all over the internet to make sure I liked it.

Never switching back. Have three of them in a U shaped command center so I get extra movement twisting or turning 180 to keep the system humming along. Highly fucking recommend you young guys listen to your bodies and realize that sitting for hours every day is really bad for you.

Also, just like being hungry is good for your mental focus (must find food, caveman hungry, rhoooaaarrrr), being on your feet is much better for focusing than slouching comfortably, 1/2 a step away from napping.

Anti-fatigue mats and really good "on your feet all day" shoes with insoles are your friend as well, even though I really like to work barefoot (rhoooaaarrr) as much as my insoles can handle it.

You'll be sore for a couple weeks to maybe a month or two, depending on your physical condition. But as @_Jlu pointed out to me on twitter, just work through it, it goes away quickly and pretty soon you'll never remember how you thought sitting on your ass all day was a solution to a better life.

Good luck bros.

Finally some competition for GeekDesk which is way overpriced. $499 is definitely an attractive price. It does everything the geekdesk does.

The difference is you have to preorder and wait until at least Sept. Once they get up and running, and can actually produce these things, then yes quite an impressive price. Until then...

What kind did you go with on the three in the command center? the ghetto ikea table/shelf upgrade or something else?

Ikea ghetto mode for now, planning on getting a couple of these when I remodel again.

The end goal of course being able to have room for a power rack in the office. #gayfit

For you guys who went with a wall mounted solution how many times did it take to "Get it right" as far as height went?

I really need to get a standing desk!

Have any of you used this: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Ergotron-WorkFit-S-33-341-200-Sit-Stand-Workstation/dp/B003Y3PF6E/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1396728384&sr=8-14]Amazon.com: Ergotron WorkFit-S 33-341-200 Dual Sit-Stand Workstation - Steel, Plastic, Aluminum - Black: Electronics[/ame]

This is pretty similar to the setup of the wall-mounted workstations and the mobile workstations I used when I was working in pharma research. It's not the exact same, but it's very similar in function.

They rock. The limited mouse space could be an issue depending on what you're doing though. That, and even the keyboard angle, is an easy fix with a couple of modifications.

I'd also take issue with the belief that it needs to be big enough to rest your arms up to your elbows. We were routinely in the lab at these stations for anywhere from 8-16 hours a day. There was nowhere to rest any part of your arm. There was never any issue with inefficiencies in workflow. Most people preferred these type of work stations compared to the old mobile carts that were more like sitting desks. You're experience may vary, but after working on these setups 6 days a weeks for nearly 5 years in rooms that were climate controlled to mimic tropical conditions (hot as fuck and in full tyvek gear) I can say after the initial "getting use to it" phase there were no issues as far as being able to get work done.

Hi friends....I am feeling so blessed that im in the era of this much of advanced time that i am not an idle person even i can not sit properly. I am an account manger and i have to work for 8 hours per day by sitting in a single state. Now my boss have allowed me to select any type of desk as i got very severe backbone pain. I am going to buy it from Stand Up Desks, Height Adjustable Desks, Treadmill Desks, if you people have any other suggestion please let me know.
