SeoDave's Guide to Generating High Converting Zip/Email Submits

I'll take "Beating the Quality Score" for $600 please Alex.

I also don't understand how anybody is supposed to believe that they are about to receive a $500 gift card, just by entering their zip code or e-mail address.

I don't think people believe that they will JUST by entering their Zip Code or Email. However, they are curious to find out more. Never under estimate the power of peoples greed. Or their overwhelming confidence that they are LUCKY and have WON something! Sure you and I are smart enough to say 'Ya right!', but that is why we are here and not at a McJob.

The recurring theme here seems to be "How do I beat the GOOG Quality score and get 5 cent clicks?" This is a much larger conversation covered in depth in other places and threads.
beating the quality score - Google Search
Only 2.5 million results, easy afternoon of reading.

But the consensus seems to be:

1) make simple poll site
2) bid on hot news stories
3) Beat the QS
4) Get an offer with a fresh scrub/db that goes to a wide appeal offer
5) Profit...
rinse lather repeat

At Millnic we have a $500 Macy's Gift Card with a fresh scrub that kills the conversion rates.
Read why Scrubs and Dbs are important in this previous thread.

Here are my results: never could get anything running on adwords. It showed the campaign was active, but never ran...I dunno.
392 clicks from Yahoo (cost me $39.20), 38 clicks from msn for $3.80) copeac is showing 250 impressions, resulted in 25 leads, or $37.50 in commisions.

So I lost few bucks. Got about a 10% conversion rate or so.

I did a poll: "should the Bin Laden Video Be Released publically?"

I problay need a better "hook".

Also, the idea above where you open the offer in a frame where it says "thanks for voting! complete the offer to see results from the poll." is good, but does that make it "incentivized?"

What offer are you using?

This is interesting. I've done two offers and have gotten 644 clicks from Google, but only 202 of those have clicked through to the offer and 24 submitted their zip.

Why would Yahoo & MSN traffic result in such a dramatically higher CTR? Is that normal?

I have similar stats:

Promoting one offer,
525 clicks from Google costing me ($42.82) [avg. 0.08 CPC]
231 clicks to offer
20 conversion = $31.00

currently down in the hole....it looks like at least half of the visitors don't even click through to the offer.

But with a 1/11 conversion is not bad....imagine that conversion with the actually clicks from Google, I would have made at least 47 conversion by now making me $72.85

MUST BE MY LANDING PAGE....back to more tweakin'

Made a site around a current popular news story. Here are the stats:
Clicks: 219
Cost: £10.85, £0.05 per click (around $20 - $0.10 per click)
Clicks to offer: 32
Leads: 10 (Payout: $1.50 per lead = $15)

Currently facing a $5 loss. Mind you I tweaked the landing page to make it shorter and simpler, with the poll appearing 'above the fold'.

Alright... confess.
Which one of you fuckers put up the poll for *** 75:bowdown:

You know what I'm talking about... that is genius.
Dave it looks like your template, is that you? And how do you create those templates?

Try to get those MSN clicks down to 5c instead of 10c. Try to get a offer that is related to your traffic (if you can tell what demographic you are targetting it helps). 10% conversion rate would be profitable if you were converting 10% of your CLICKS from the engines. Unfortunately it looks like only a little more than half of your traffic is clicking through. I haven't seen your template, but I suggest making sure that the Question that you want answered is the very first thing they see when they hit your page and that the YES and NO buttons (or whatever method you are using to take the poll) is directly below that. You should have about 90% of your clicks from the PPC engines at least hitting copeac even if they don't fill out the offer.

Work on those landing pages boys...

My problem is getting the traffic to click through to the offer, my question and yes & no button is above the fold, can't seems to figure out whats stopping them from just answering the question...

Might have been me dude, are you talking about the PPC ad for Matt and Mike on the U F C 75, or the organic listing... the organic was mine. I seen the PPC too, but didn't know who it was

I'm going to try as well, we'll see the results.

my only suggestion to who has problem with conversion is "know your target". how many people interested in Pavarotti's funeral is enough ignorant to go for a zip code offer? maybe if you target a 15 years old girl/guy looking for the stupid gossip about some drunk hollywood star you would have a better conversion...
and beside that... you need to look for really fresh news, next time paris hilton will get busted won't be a good news for you because that market is still stuffed from the past time...

Could you get in trouble if you try and make stuff up? Or would this be considered slander?

Do you think Britney is a lesbian?
Do you think Britney is a pro-op tranny?
Do you think Britney is on drugs?

I'm not sure...but i'm guessing if it not on target of the "breaking news" or "event" then your CTR to your offer would be shitless...

if you think about...for example

Britney Spears preformed in the VMAs

you would try get targeted keywords around that event/news, because thats what all the hype/gossip about.

[SIZE=-1]britney spears vmas
britney spears vma video
britney spears sarah silverman
britney spears vma comeback
britney spears vma performance video

but if you made up your own news/gossip that no one is actually searching then there's no traffic

just my :2twocents:

Here's my latest update:

Seems like my RocketProfit stats wasn't updating so I have good news!

629 Google clicks costing me $50.44 (Avg 0.08 CPC)
431 clicks to offer
46 conversion = $71.30 (revenue)

breaking it down:
Converting @ 1/9 but if i measure it from Google its 1/13

Hey man that is great results! Well done so far!

I did my experiment as well. The results are something like
170 clicks from Yahoo
70 clicks to the offer
10 conversions

Last couple of days something happened in yahoo and the clicks increase dramatically in spikes of 1-2 minutes. I suspected fraud by Yahoo said that the looked it up and it just normal traffic. Before the 2 "fraud" days I was in the green, but now in the RED big time!

I tried to improve my LP by adding live vote stats which seemed to highly improve it , however the thing I described just above happened and messed up all of my stats, so I cant tell for sure.

how much of an increase in clicks did you receive?

If all goes well, I might start up a Yahoo campaign, just to compare it against Google, but gotta hurry not sure how long the "hype" gonna last.

BTW whats the avg CPC your getting?

eliquid, yeah that's what i was talking about :)
How on earth did you get organic listings for it so fast?

I think the CTR from LP to ZIP doubled...

The CPC started at $0.10 and stayed there :eek7:
