Dont be so naive as to think the theory of evolution had anything to do with the advancements in industry, technology, farming, construction, and transportation.
We're just reaping the rewards of past generations. I'm pretty sure you got a hard working bible thumper no more then one or two generation in your family tree.

It's impossible for someone with a brain and a basic understanding of abiogenesis and evolution to watch that video and not either want to punch a hole in the wall, shake their head in disgust, or cry.

Those people in that video are completely serious and they understand less about basic science than rational and intelligent humans did in the 19th century.
And some of them are educating our kids.

These threads are like flypaper for retards. Anyone who either doesn't understand the word theory or thinks Evolution is some sort of "possible hypothesis" - that's not even close being proven - is almost too stupid to breathe. I'm beyond debating with people who cling onto a world view that should have died a long, long time ago. (Fortunately religion amongst the natives is as good as dead in my country.)

Can we start another thread and debate the alternatives to the theory of gravity please?

I believe the person who discovered gravity was a pretty hard core Bible thumper. I thought we're all dumb asses, and stand in the way of major scientific discoveries.
Also I question your knowledge of gravity, so which theory do you believe in Newtonian or Einsteins.
 
Evolution is a fact. It's not a theory or a hypothesis. Anyone who denies this is religious and therefore ignorant. If you truly have faith in Christianity or any other jewish religion you by default deny science. The two are simply not compatible. The stories of moses and noah are scientifically implausible. If you respond by saying 'God did it' or start talking about the omnipotence of God then I've made my point.

And how far can the catholic church keep making concessions to science? They persecuted Galileo, then conceded, they mocked evolution, then conceded - and so they keep watering down their absurd faith to stay alive.

Yes, it is a wall. It most certainly has and continues to get in the way of progress. The problem isn't with the 'feel good' theism of the upper/middle class, it's with the fact that religion always ends up causing sectarianism and zealots who'll do all they can to prevent new evidence that challenges their irrational faith. It's not so much that they know they're wrong, it's that religion brainwashes them to the extent that they are unwilling to even comprehend the fact that there may be an alternative to what they've been told to accept.
