So here's an update on my autoblogging work:

I've had 8 autoblogs setup for almost a week now and am making about 15 or 20 posts a day on each one. I get about 20 page impressions on each one according to AdSense. My CTR stinks. Right now it is right around 1%. The one bright spot is that most of the sites are getting indexed pretty well. Some of my sites have 40+ pages indexed in Google and I don't think any of them are in the supplemental index.

So I need some advice:

1. What is the best way to get more traffic? Keyword stuffing? Bigger posts?
2. I think I need to optimize my ad placements. Say my site was valuable to users (and not a scraper site). Would an ad layout like http:// mortgage-marketing. marketing-experts.info be against AdSense's TOS? Could I possibly get banned just for having so many ads above the fold? Or would it have to be a combo of that ad layout and useless, duplicate, or nonsensical content?

Thanks again!

Correct. This way the results appear on my site, and doesn't redirect the user to eBay. I'm trying to get data feeds from other ticket sellers, so I can do a comparison. It is my opinion (and you know what opinions are like :D ) that if a visitor can compare the prices of 3 or 4 different sellers on one site, they are more likely to purchase at that time, than if you one have one. With only one site's prices, they are more likely to keep looking for the best price, and after they have comparison shopped long enough, then they'll buy. So, I want to eliminate the user having to go elsewhere to compare prices.

Oh yeah, back to the API, the code for it was taken from eBay's sample code. Saved me a ton of time. I just edited it slightly, tested it in the sandbox, tested it live, found out I needed to enable domxlst in my server, did that, and it's good. Oh yeah, and the call to LiquidWeb's tech support to learn how to enable that part of PHP took a whopping 7 mins 19 secs :D I love LiquidWeb!

Thanks Mike, you're a sweetheart!

Sorry, I don't understand what you or Springer said. I'm unfamiliar with this termonology. If it helps any I have a Godaddy shared account. Although I don't want these sites on my current account. How about I just get a reloadable prepaid card and just use fake account information and sign up somewhere that offers webhosting?

VPS - Virtual Private Server
WHM - cPanel's Web Host Manager

So, if you have a VPS with WHM, there is a section in the WHM that will allow you to set up your nameservers and assign them to IP addresses.

I seriously doubt there is anyway to use your own nameservers with GoDaddy, even if you get a VPS account with them, but I could be wrong. GoDaddy's weird, at best, with their hosting.

That's what I keep trying to tell my wife!

1. No on keyword stuffing. Try doing a little old fashioned link building. If your blog doesn't look spammy, then see if you can trade links, or even get one way links from relevant sites with traffic.

2. Adsense will cut you off at 3 ads per page. Nothing you can do about that. So, No, you shouldn't get in trouble for putting all three above the fold if you want. They can be all the same size, different sizes, different colors, whatever. Just play around with placement. If you haven't seen this, check it out. This is also cool.

Thanks for the help yet again. My autoblogs are on the edge of spammy, so I doubt I'll be able to get any respectable one-way links. I might try and automate the creation of some wordpress.com and blogspot.com blogs that I can link to my autoblogs. I doubt it will be a quick process, but maybe it will help out after a few weeks or months?

Use Social Bookmarking - You can get tons of one way
inbound links and even use sites like squidoo to create
mini FFA's for your del.icio.us links.

Here is a list of other social bookmarking sites
that will automatically import your del.icio.us links.

netvous
bibsomony
linagogo
shawdow
spurl
simply

So automate your splog links to a del.icio.us account
set up accounts at those other sites and squidoo and
you will create backlinks fairly rapidly.

I was able to take a spammy self generated content
blog to over $100 per day in less than a month and
that is the only link building I did.

$100 a day? Impressive! I'd be ecstatic for $1 a day (per blog, of course).

Is VPS necessary for cycle sites? even for just a few sites just to test and see how it does? I still don't have any idea what you all are talking about, I'm just going to go with hosting accounts in different names on prepaid cards. It's a longer route it seems, but I don't know what else to do if I can't understand what you all are talking about.

EDIT:

I just thought, it doesn't make a difference if I use a fake name or a prepaid card. I'm still going to get complaints from people to my hosting company, which is what we're trying to avoid, they can still contact my webhost. The idea behind using fake nameservers is so people get the wrong contact info. and your webhosting company doesn't get the complaints.

Damn, how am I going to figure this out?

Only way to do this is to get a VSP?

Whats up all. I just joined this site tonight and after going thru hours of content I really did read some interesting stuff. I read the thread from SEO Mike and its just the type of thing that motivates me. I started a mortgage lead company about 3 years ago and made insane money buying and selling mortgage leads. The market has got pretty bad and just like I started a Mortgage Lead company a few years ago.... this week I have decided to really focus On Debt leads. So I think I will take Mike challenge as well. I have never been an IT guy more of a sales guy but lately I have taught myself how to build websites and do a bit of coding. My work sucks right now but my hunger to get this stuff down is there. So here are the two things I started working on this last week. Please take a look and let me know what you think:

The first page not finished yet: Adsinseconds.com (please keep in mind I am not a techi type of guy)

The idea is taking all the incentive offers from affiliate networks and putting them on one page for people to do. I am already talked to some affiliate networks ant there ok with the incentive offers. I am starting to think I might need a little bit help to clean up this site. If anybody is interested in helping in development on this site you can IM me on aim: Davr3

The second is my debt page that i did myself that i just finished today: Takecareofyourbills.com I am now interested in anybody that can drive quality traffic to the site and start generating leads because I already have the foundation of people that will buy. In the past I relied on spammers to email market for me but I really want to get away from that and develop this page with SEO, natural traffic. Any input is welcome. So there it is. Those are the couple things that I am putting to the challenge that I have started that currently are not making any money. But if history shall repeat itself money is (crossing fingers) right around the corner again.

Any suggestions or service you can provide IM me on aim Davr3

FYI my mortgage company lead site is ezlead2loans.com if anybody was wondering.

Here's my latest site, and it's not a blog: Ticket Depot

.....

Anyhow, back to TicketDepot.org, I built this so that I could use it for PPC primarily.

Hi Mike. Nice site you got there.

I think is within my knowledge to create something similar, not tickets of course ( I wouldn't want you for my competitor ;) ). However I would like to ask you something because is something that always bugs me.

In my opinion tickets are a competitive market. I can't imagine how you can approach that with PPC! A person that is looking to buy a ticket for sure it will include the keywords 'ticket' 'concert' 'show' etc. All these words are heavily bid by the big sites. Even if you use a longtail containing one of those obvious words you will have tooooooo much competition.

Moreover, the big guys are targeting all the famous singers, teams, actors names. So even if you dont include the previously mentioned keywords ('tickets' etc) again you will have super too much competition.

I am asking this because many times I thought that I found a profitable niche but because it included a freaking famous commercial word within the longtail, I had huge competition and failed.

Thanks for this great threat by the way. I think, you and other guys helping out here (Aequitas YOU ROCK MAN!!!!! THANKS!) should post your affiliate links (you know, not the sneaky ones, but the obvious ones) to hosting plans as well as the adv networks. It would be a great way for us noobs to say thank you in a way will all appriaciate ($$$) since we are going to use it anyway!Just a thought!

Is VPS necessary for cycle sites?

Yes, because if you set it up properly with thousands of feeds, one site will chew up and spit out a shared host. If you're having a hard time with the cycle site idea, I suggest moving to something else. Seriously, a cycle site like Eli talks about takes a little bit of work and is a little more advanced than just setting up a blog and typing in content.

If you just want to test out autoblogs, then use that same script, but stick with 10 or so good RSS feeds. These are harder to find because you want feeds that provide the full articles, not just a short snippet.

Welcome Davr3 and psychoul! :D

Davr3: If you want to learn SEO to drive organic (aka free search engine) traffic to your site, there are some good threads here for that, and also a shit ton of blogs / sites dedicated to SEO around the internet. Just spend some time reading and learning. If you have any questions, feel free to hit me up. If you need a SEO........ ;)

Psychoul: You're right, there is probably a ton of competition for a lot of those keywords. Usually what I do is test the waters by bidding an amount I am comfortable with and not worrying too much about my placement. Also, you have to look for related keywords that others forgot about or missed. Here's a good example: "compare prices" gets a lot of searches according to WordTracker, yet there aren't that many people competing for it. Only about a page and a half of sponsored listings. Not bad. The downside to that query is it isn't targetted at all.

Targetting the singers or bands - not a bad idea, and one I plan on using myself. Take Jennifer Lopez for example, she is currently touring with Marc Anthony, but if you search "jennifer lopez" there are only 3 advertisers. Should be able to get in on that action pretty cheap. Still not very targetted, but if testing shows that the conversions are there, then it's all good. If it turns out that nothing converts, then it's wasted money. Only time and testing will tell. :D

Mike are you using a VPS for cycle sites? Run into any problems with resources?

I was going to get one from LiquidWeb, but Eli and the guys in the SQUIRT forum convinced me that a dedi was the only way to go.

Just a quick update...

Cycle site blew through my VPS1 at Liquidweb, had to upgrade otherwise I kept crashing MySql process. To be fair I have quite a few other sites running scripts on that server so this just tipped the scales.

Before crashing I was starting to see 400 visitors a day most from moderation of the owners blogs, but I am seeing some good referring links that are live. Soon as the upgrade is done I will kick autopost off again so far I am happy with what I am seeing.

Cash wise I am averaging about .15 a day from adsense when I had autopost running, less right now.

I also have been more active in working with my directory and other sites that have laid dormant for awhile and am seeing results from that work also.

Actually, I'm not running any 'true' cycle sites right now. I started to, then changed my mind. So, I'm not sure about resource issues. Sorry.

Anyhow, if Eli says you need a dedicated box for cycle sites, he would be the one to know. :D

@Parushing: That delicious idea is a right gem! Gonna get that up and running tonight if possible - did you code the auto post links for delicious yourself or found a script online for it?

Hippy, I'm running my cycle sites on a VPS, BUT I could only imagine doing 50 at most. If you wanna do it in the appropriate volume, go dedi.

Sounds like everyone is doing something completely different than me. I apologize if this sounds off topic. My site which is in the works is using AuctionAds to provide monetization. I know that sounds gay but when you see the end result hopefully you'll understand. Just got the domain and I am working on coding and design as I am writing this. My question is this... What can be done to garner some nice links in a quick period of time? Will this look bad if I grow too quick in the search engine's eyes? Thanks in advance for help/ideas. I am really enjoying reading everyone's progress. Good motivation to actually make some shit.

I have a partially working black hole seo script. Its coded very ineffiently, but should work as far as I can tell. But it doesn't. I'd be willing to post the source if anyone else was interested in getting it to work.

Just a random thought in response to abednego's post on getting backlinks.
