He does kind of have that "Totally worth my server logs" look on his face.

notice the domain the hidden pixel is grabbing from?
Wow...what a shady guy...He just ruined his reputation for few thousand dollars?
Ohh and how ironic - that a person who made LPLockdown had all his own landers + IP's exposed by a person whom he has smashed earlier?! WOW...
What goes around comes around :338:
I'm sorry for the lack of answers that we (Nick and I) have given in this thread. There have surely been some questions asked that deserve to be addressed/answered.
MajorBTA made a great point. This service isn't meant as a guarantee that your landing page won't get seen by affiliates, or stolen by landing page thieves. It simply offers several layers of protection to deter thieves. Sure there are work arounds, but they aren't practiced often. All it takes to know that, is seeing your 202 stats thrown off by someone stealing your landing page, and leaving your pixel. If that hasn't happened to you, you're either ungodly lucky, or simply not looking close enough. The beauty of LP Lockdown is that you don't have to look closely, you're notified when it happens!
I think it's silly that everybody is shocked that Nick, along with many others, were collecting IPs (along with other data) from pixels in their signatures. Especially because Nick posted about that exact thing months ago and everyone thought it was brilliant.
For those not trusting us with your referrer data, please test us. It would be very easy for any of our users to setup a "trap page" in our system. Create a Theft Monitor, Uptime Monitor, or Page Cloaker on a specific page that isn't linked to from anywhere else, and keep an eye on the logs. I can guarantee you, you won't be finding us visiting your page.
As to how our blacklists are built, mostly logs from pixels on known "affiliate hang out" websites. That is no secret. But we don't simply drop all the IPs into a database and call it a day. All the collected user data (much more than just an IP) is run through our scrubbing algorithm that we have been developing and testing over the last 5 months , to ensure that desirable traffic isn't blacklisted. While it's not absolute perfection (I don't think any algorithm can be), it does do a very good job.
If you're concerned about losing desirable traffic, and therefore conversions... split test it. Run some traffic through our system, and some not, then review the results. See if you're losing conversions. We've done it. A lot. And we know we're not losing sales. We've been continuously testing, tweaking, and improving our system and we're confident it's effective in it's purpose.
You also have to keep in mind, much of WickedFire may not be the target audience for this product. Many users on this forum are plenty capable programmers, though I'm constantly surprised by the overwhelming amount of affiliates who are not. If you're capable and willing to attempt to create a similar functioning script for yourself... by all means, do it. The fact is, that is not an option for most affiliates, and that is exactly who this service is intended for.
We have many more additions coming out in our service, but this thread has expedited a couple of them...
Cloaking APISince the day we launched beta, LP Lockdown has been doing exactly what it was designed to do... notify users when their sites go down, cloaking away unwanted visitors, notifying users of theft, and enabling them to take back control of their stolen websites. We know it works, and I believe any of our users can attest to that.
During our beta period, users had access to an API to allow them to cloak visitors on the server side, before any of their client side code was ever served to a visitor. We took this out at launch time, to simplify the service. Much of the feedback we got during our beta testing was to simplify the service, so we did. But, because it does offer an advantage is many situations, the API access has been re-enabled.
Your Own Domain / Private [Dedicated] IPs
We also now offer the option for all users to serve the scripts and pixels on their own domains, rather than just the 11i.us domain. Dedicated IPs will also be available soon, to even further enhance privacy.
We've put a lot of time and energy into developing this product and truly feel it is an asset to our industry, and a great value to all of it's intended users. You don't have to blindly believe in the product, but please don't blindly bash it either, without even seeing as much as the user interface. We believe in it, and that's why we're happy to offer a prompt refund to anybody that signs up to our service, and isn't satisfied with it.
Thanks for the read.
