I've never ripped a lander - ever. So quite frankly, I don't give a fuck if my IP is on the list. If Nicky is snagging IP's for this purpose, then touche. Some people use this forum as a tool to make money and some people use this forum as a tool to make money.

Up until yesterday, I don't see where anybody (on WF) did not have the opportunity of doing something similar with their sig. I'm not sticking up for the guy, however if any part of Nicky's method for gathering IP's may be considered an abuse of mod privledges, then he should step up and address that concern.

I think it's silly that everybody is shocked that Nick, along with many others, were collecting IPs (along with other data) from pixels in their signatures. Especially because Nick posted about that exact thing months ago and everyone thought it was brilliant....As to how our blacklists are built, mostly logs from pixels on known "affiliate hang out" websites. That is no secret. But we don't simply drop all the IPs into a database and call it a day. All the collected user data (much more than just an IP) is run through our scrubbing algorithm that we have been developing and testing over the last 5 months , to ensure that desirable traffic isn't blacklisted. While it's not absolute perfection (I don't think any algorithm can be), it does do a very good job.

As far as the haters on your system that think they can do better...

Is the data you gathered considered an essential part of a successful solution? If the haters are saying your methods of obtaining data are rather questionable (perhaps more likely because they didn't think of it), then why not salvage your integrity and level the playing field? Why not give out that data to anyone challenging you that they can come up with a better solution? Are you not saying that the data is essentially junk without being filtered through your proprietary algorithms?

Irony #1 - Nicky is getting busted by the same person he busted a while ago.

Irony #2 - He's making/selling the same bullshit tools that he's criticized others of selling/making.

Irony #3 - He accused on Zac Johnson of not using a Private Whois and now he got caught for the same thing.

Irony #4 - He harvests info (IP's) from the same forum he's modding for. How the hell he got to mod in the first place? Wow.

Irony #5 - He got busted by a mod at the same forum he's a mod for.

Irony #6 - If Uber had made this tool, I'm 110% sure Nicky would have made an exact same post about this and trashed it. But since it's the other way, he first defends it, now he's not even replying. Clearly a double standard.

LMAO

I don't care if Nicky makes all these tools for his personal gain. More power to him...

But the problem is - he's a fucking hypocrite on so many levels, as it's 100% obvious in thread. The irony is just killing me.

On another note, I've also lost respect for the forum. After reading this thread and this post.

Hi Friends,

Just to keep everyone updated, addressed the OP's concerns by allowing you to use your own domain for the functions of LP Lockdown. If you're one of our paying members, you'll find details on the dashboard when you log in.

I'd like to mention that not a single person who has actually used LP Lockdown has been in this thread trashing it. On that note, anyone who would like to do a serious review of this product is free to contact me for an invite. I'll gladly refund your money if you aren't satisfied.

As for all the drama:

People have suggested that I should have hidden the fact that I was associated with this product so nobody would try to start any big dramabomb and invite all the people who's awful products I've outed over the years to start threads like these in retaliation.

Instead of hiding it, I decided to put my name all over it, because I know my product is solid, and will actually help affiliates make more money, as it's done for me and many others. I will continue to do so, and I welcome any/all criticism that may be thrown my way. After all, if you can dish it out, you better be able to take it, and I can sure as hell dish it out.

Although not a major issue (you can run a compete.com search on tons of tracking domains, affiliate links, tracking202, etc), I thank Paul for pointing it out so we could add a feature to counter it, which we have.

Any other feature requests, just let me know!

Keep it real.

As to whether he used his mod status to extract them directly. That's speculation pure and simple and it's going to be his word against everyone else.

I mod here at WF cause I love this forum and it helped me get started, and anyone who knows me knows I wouldn't abuse my mod status. WF also keeps really detailed logs and we're not big on conflicts of interest here, so rest assured Jon would have banned me sharp-ish if I was pulling some shit like that.

What does this even mean? Why did Stanley disable remote linking of external images if that was the case? Since your system seems to be dependent on gathering affiliate IP data how do you intend to get IP data from WF from this point on? Will you be scraping it directly from the mod control panel @ WF?

How does enabling your secretive data collection here not hurt Jon's brand? I don't see how Jon can be ok with this, and if he was, I suspect that remote image linking would never have been disabled.

Can I bee your friend too?

Cakes,

I think a lot of guys are biting their tongue because they feel they'll get banned or you'll have some vendetta out for them when this blows over.

The truth is, if it was anyone else caught collecting IPs in this manner, we would have been immediately banned.

I think I'd be correct in stating if you caught someone else doing what you did, you would have banned them and started a shit storm.

The fact is a lot of people think this was extremely shady, and really view you in a different light.

At this point you didn't even apologize for being sneaky, you just say you wouldn't abuse your mod privileges, but you've abused a privilege on this forum.

If you're not held culpable by the upper management here, I'm going to view this forum a lot differently.

MANY people have been doing the exact same thing for over a year since I made a post how to do it, and the general consensus was that it was creative, but not really a big deal.

You would be incorrect.

I think "being sneaky" is the goal of most of the people on this forum, certainly not something to apologize for!

"Most people" don't have the privilege of logging into the admin panel for the purpose of scooping up WF IPs. I have always liked you nicky, as well as your blog, but I think you crossed the line as a mod.

Don't know what I'd do if I were Jon about "cakesgate." LOL

Which is "exactly" the reason why people would not purchase this. What other "sneaky" things would you do with our information.... Your words mean nothing, but your previous actions speak wonders.
