You can feel "raw life" without having to move to a stateless society, you just have to stop drinking the koolaid. This is not about being violent/evil. This is about doing whatever it takes to survive. Just because you had to kill your neighbor last night to get his food/ fuel, does not mean that you wont trade that fuel for ammo or different supplies. True. People will do abnormal things when put in desperate situations. But that doesn't change the fact that thievery is violent, and therefore immoral. Does pulling a gun on someone in a life or death situation make the act any less violent?
I'm not saying that I wouldn't act as Dresden described, if put in such a situation, though I hope I wouldn't. I'd rather prepare myself for such a situation so I don't even have to contemplate the options of surviving or aggressing against others.

my mums built this double brick house with metal roller shutters. after power out, we have a 3 hour power reserve which allows us enough power to lock down the rollers. we've never had anything more then half day blackouts from power going out in the mountains but i know if D-Day ever came, id want to be at mums.
