How much do you sleep?

Healthy adults should be getting around 7.5 to 9 hours anything less will normally lead to health problems like weight gain, increased risk of diabetes, heart disease, and other health problems.
9 hours? No way. 6.5 - 8 hours/night is all you need for healthy sleep.

a question for those of you sleeping 4-5 hours daily (with or without a nap).. are you into some kind of sports? I mean do you run a mile once a week, or swim, or maybe you do pull-ups or push-ups 3 times a week?

What I've noticed is that when I sleep 4-5 hours a day my strength is going way down, and after a couple pull ups I feel quite bad... That's why I sleep 7-8 daily..

Same here. I play alot of sports and I can't combine the two.

But "work" is top priority now so I have put all my P90X and daily running/cycling on the side till... later.

Hi Crynos,

You're a fucking faggot for worrying about post count whatsoever.

That's basically how I live as well, as I don't really have a choice. It's a horrible idea though, and not good for the body. Takes 2 - 3 hours of sleep for the body to enter REM mode, and that's by far most important aspect of sleeping. 4 - 6 hour sleeps per-time don't give you anywhere near enough REM sleep, which you need.

Not true. If your used to the naps, your body can adjust to your sleeping and learn to enter into REM mode quickly. We had a thread on here about a sleep cycle where people take like six 30 minute naps a day and are able to function just fine because the body learned to enter into REM right away.

Naw, I always wake up groggy and discombobulated, which is why I never take em.

This is absolutely true for me, too.

I call bullshit on anyone saying 4 hours regularly. I just don't see how, I'd be the most miserable fuck.

When forced to get about 4 - 5 hours per night for almost a year thanks to my insane schedule, I could feel my physical and mental health deteriorate. It sucked and I had to cut back or go insane.

I'm always more tired after a nap than before a nap. It probably takes me 2 hours to fully wake up after taking a nap.

Nope. Sleep science says that teenagers and young adults (through about age 25) need a minimum of 8 - 9 hours for optimum growth, brain development and health.

You need less sleep as you age, so the 7 - 8 hours you hear so often actually applies to adults close to or over 30 usually, and mature adults can get by on as little as 5 - 6 and still be totally healthy.

Personally, I usually get 6 - 7 and rejoice when I get 8. Even then, I never sleep the whole time without at least one wake-up call. This is the life of a mother and I haven't slept a solid night in about six years.

I'm chiming in here because I disagree with a lot of people on this - have read some good articles that said 1) Some people just require less sleep, genetically *assholes* and 2) we *humans* used to sleep about 12-14 hours a night until electricity, but we would wake up in the middle of the night to feed and take care of the farm/animals for a few hours. What's certain is that sleep patterns have changed dramatically in the last 200 years from what they were for people for most of our evolutionary existence!

For anyone who has done polyphasic sleep (2hours total? I can't remember), or even the other level that requires 4 hours of sleep...

Do you find that you are still able to be creative, read book and absorb information, and learn?

I've heard some people say that even though you are awake it's almost like your in a zombie like state. I have 50+ books saved in my amazon cart right now and I'd love to be able to power through them within the next 1-2 years, but I'd need to be able to take legit notes and actually absorb the info.

Hopefully some members here can come forward with their experiences.

I love sleeping. 10 hours or more. I pretty much hit the gym everyday, so sleep feels good. Now working on my lucid dreaming skills so I can participate in a celebrity gang bang.

What helped me immensely is having a habit of reading 25 pages a day. You'll finish a 350 page book in 2 weeks time. That's about 26 books per year.

(25 pages isn't even that much. If you read 50 pages per day, you'll finish about a book per week ...)
