Female Affiliate Managers, etc...

Honestly Jon, I did not like it that my post was deleted, but what the hell, its your forum, and I like it here.
Nah, I don't wanna take this any further. Lets leave it as is.
But the next time you post something as controversial as this, expect some replies you wont like (not from me, generally).
I'm off to make money now.

It sucks to see nickycakes and glowleaf's posts removed. I read them and agreed with most of their replies. I hope that any AM that feels harassed or doesn't like their affiliate would have them switched.

I think this post would have a better effect if it was directed at a specific infringer/s privately because it seems like common sense to treat people professionally and respectfully. You'd want to be even more careful if that person is helping you to make a lot of money.

I agree 100%

Its easier to say "oh well thats easy just block them or tell them to fuck off" -- But thats something none of them can really say, because they are put into this really fucked up bind. They have to act a certain way to affiliates, whether it be in person, on IM's or anywhere else. Even if they are sticking up for themselves and telling the guy to fuck off in a very polite way, a lot of affiliates have done really fucked up things like making shit up about that AM or even worse, spreading a rumor to their friends/other affiliates about "what a whore she was/is" and that just gets out of hand.

I don't know how tough it is to be in that position, but from all of the years and different accounts I've heard over and over again I still think they should flat out say "fuck off" to them, but they just can't.

You guys are douches for saying I'm doing this to get laid or any other fucked up reason. See, that bugs me when people assume they know me or my intentions. Yeah, its fine to joke about, but when you take a shot at me and you think I'm just going to sit around and take it, I won't.

This shit has been RAMPANT for years. I thought I'd say something, and I've been swearing that I'd do it someday, and yesterday just happened to be that day, when I was just tired of hearing it and wanted to shed light onto it. Will it change someone or a network? Probably not, since no one really listens to shit I say anyway, and just see it as "oh one of Jon's drama starting posts" or "Jon is just trying to get attention"... yeah, because I LOVE drama and desperately seek attention nonstop. Fucking idiots. When was the last time you saw something industry wide and said something about it in hopes that maybe by bringing some attention to it may help someone OTHER than yourself to help out a large group of people?? Never.

Ah well no sense in arguing about it now.. it comes with the job.

Undelete my post and respond to it rather than deleting it and putting words in my mouth. I never said you were doing it to try and get laid, I said the post was disrespectful to women to assume they were helpless against this female affiliate manager flirting without the aid of a post by you on wickedfire forums. I'm sure they can easily find the "block" feature on aim or request an affiliate be transferred to another manager, or simply tell them that they're crossing a line and to please stop.

I then added a joke (we're still allowed to make jokes on wickedfire, right?) saying that we saw through your attempt at scoring points with the ladies, and that we had better not see you at any more conferences hanging out with female AM's, as per the request at the end of the original post. I guess I should have added a "::nudge nudge, wink wink::" after it..

Ok this makes sense but isn't it hypocritical to have one of the most famous threads on this forum designed to just post pictures of jailbait girls just for lulz and then worry about the same sort of thing happening at the conference.

And I don't but the "lol, internet" argument either. So what it's the internet, what difference is that. When the telephone was invented did people start telephoning strangers in the phone book and start making rape jokes and whatever else goes on on the internet today, and then say "hey don't worry its the telephone, not real life".

If people aren't breaking the law and actually sexually harassing these women, you're going to have a hard time stopping anything like this... it's the way the world works, you can cry about it all you want. And I agree with those who say it goes both ways with this stuff... it's not 100% these powerful, manipulative affiliates abusing the poor, defenseless female AM's.

C'mon, really?

I don't know if hypocritical is the right word. But yes, it's odd to to have wf, which is known for it's tits and ass threads, pedo thread, and on going degradation of women threads to then have the owner get pissed about the harassment of women. I can see why people would be confused. It's a thin line.

Yeah, but to be fair, it's not like Jon started or even participated in any of those threads. WF always has been a free speech machine and everyone's proud of that.

Posting a few playboy titties and unwanted harassing of a real person are completely different things. *I don't agree with the original post in the first place but saying he's hypocritical just doesn't make sense.

Personally I've seen small cases of this but never realized how far it reached (networks promoting it). Guys are always gonna talk to and treat females differently but there's always the people that take it too far. Flirting while doing business is one thing, unnecessarily harassing females is a different thing. I think people believe making a lot of money gives them the right to talk to people how they want. The female affiliate managers are forced to accept it since going against it would cost them. The only way things will ever change is if people decide they aren't gonna put up with it. I think it's good someone respected stepped up and said something, things might not change but at least someone has the balls to say it.

Ok so it's a free speech machine, but what does that have to do in relation to the principle?

Imagine going to the conference or wherever and complaining, then they say, ok sorry but we are a free speech zone. You'd have no grounds to continue.

We recently brought on 3 female AM's, and as a network, we want them (and all females working in our industry) to be respected and known for their knowledge and reputation as being a good asset to your business. That's our goal. It sucks when the attention on females in our business revolves around their looks, when it should be about what they can do to help you achieve further success.

Stop being retarded. For your sake.

I'm not complaing you turd.. I did it to shed light on crap that goes on and that no one does shit or says shit publicly about. Sometimes when you see things happen, you say something about it, you on the other hand may not be one of those people. That's fine too. I used to be a selfish prick for a very long time, still am in some cases. But you're just trying to pick a fight for no other reason that you've misunderstood the point of this thread.

So go ahead and continue living in your cushy la la land space where everything is wonderful, and when you're ready to take a sniff of reality, you can remove your head from your ass, and join the rest of the world. Until then, go back to playing in the sandbox with your hot wheels, and us grownups will hang out over here.

A transparently PC response. I'd wager that the new AMs have a higher hot or not rating than IQ. knowledge ... reputation ... assets ... bullshit

I personally spend as little time with AMs as possible so I am in no way contributing to this problem. Most know little or nothing about my (our) business and are simply glorified salespeople. The threads about "my AM doesn't know what scrubbing is" rings a bell when it comes to how qualified these people are .. male or female.

It's painfully obvious that the networks are hiring people solely on looks as bait for lonely webmasters. So while I agree that us geeks should have enough respect to not hit on everything with tits, I'm seeing a double standard of sorts in this thread.

affiliates are at fault for thinking porn
networks are at fault for being pimps

Female AMs are at fault for willingly being part of the game. They know exactly what they are getting into and are looking for little more than a PG rated sugar daddy. I don't buy that they are innocent in this situation by any stretch, it's all about money for them and having hornball nerds hitting on them is part of the job description in their view.

It's a sticky situation that I don't see going anywhere. The second networks start hiring brains over beauty, 80% of their clients will go elsewhere, the other 20% will start banking if the new employees are worth their salt.

Just like sexual harassment in the brick and mortar workplace, watch your own ass not someone else's.

Ok. I'll give this a serious response since everyone else is.
1) People harassing female AMs is ridiculous. I haven't seen it too much to be honest. but if it is, there's no way to defend that.

2) Networks probably don't hire female AMs just because of their looks. Nearly all the female AMs I've talked to do know what they're talking about, and are as qualified as anyone else(whatever that means in this industry). They're not all great, but neither are all the males.

(ok, this is the important part here)
3)That said, the networks know when they hire young, attractive female AMs that the fact that they are female is going to weigh in.
Any other cigarette smokers? If you've got let's say 6 cigs in a pack and an attractive chick asks you for one are you not more likely to bum it to them then a random guy?
Remember, this business is mostly marketers. Their job is pretty much the psychology of the sale.
If you think that is an oversight, you're retarded. Any conditions that exist today exist because they were set up to be how they are.

Once again. Reiterating this point: Female AMs are not hired just because they're female. But the companies do know that it factors in.

That's a tough question. It takes about 6 cigarettes before I finally feel like getting up to go buy more - so I'd probably tell even a hot chick to fuck off.

Actually if you look at my first response I agreed that what you said makes sense, so most of your ad hominems (which is most of your reply), apart from being unnecessary, also make no sense.

And yes you could say I want a "debate". The point of the thread - to shed light, who is your audience? The industry have no reason to listen since you are throwing stones from a glass house. The skittles thread and all of the t+a threads that get posted, great for the self esteem of the female members here I bet. If you care about the principle why allow these threads? If the reason is free speech then the industry could claim the exact same reason (if not free speech then freedom of association, or whatever freedom is appropriate to the situation) and so the first post is just a lament. Fair enough. But the fact you allow these threads while pretending to care so much about the princple just makes you a hypocrite.

And then you go even further and call me out (in such lovely tones) on how much I care, despite being a hypocrite on the principle yourself, that's what takes it to the ludicrous.
