Ca$hvertising (Book Summary)

I printed the notes above. They have replaced my previous sheet immediately next to my monitor.

Also, I ordered the book.

You ever heard audio books in your life? I listen to them when I drive.

Agreed, audio books kick ass. All the time that used to be unproductive like shopping, driving etc. I can use to either listen to something I enjoy or something that I'll learn from.

OP basically tl;dr-ed it, but it's still totally worth reading. You won't regret buying it. He compresses the big minds of advertising over the past 50 years into one book.

The whole "People buy because of emotion and justify with logic. Force an emotional by touching on a basic want or need." principle sounded bleeding obvious, but after looking at some of my landers - durrr, I wasn't really using it. Started using it and it works!

That looks like a fantastic book OP! Just ordered my copy.

Also, here's a great little tool for you guys. You copy/paste paragraphs of text into it and it tells you the Flesch-Kincaid score (reading grade level) of your copy. I always try to keep it at the 7th grade or lower:

Check Text Readability - Added Bytes

Always run my copy through this before putting online, sending out, or Emailing.

Finally, these are 2 titles I own from Cialdini that seem to complement Ca$hvertising quite well (and recommended for everyone selling anything):

Amazon.com: Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion (Collins Business Essentials) (9780061241895): Robert B. Cialdini: Books

Amazon.com: Yes!: 50 Scientifically Proven Ways to Be Persuasive (9781416576143): Noah J. Goldstein, Steve J. Martin, Robert B. Cialdini: Books

I bought this book on Smaxor's recommendation, too - and actually gave a copy away for Christmas I thought it was so good.

If you are flying to ASW10 this book is definitely worth picking up to read on the flight.

That's why I love you!

Wish I could listen to them. My attention span sucks though when trying to listen to someone talk. I zone out and start thinking about other shit. Reading it's not a problem.

Anyways, big thanks to Smax for posting this recommendation in an earlier thread. I ordered this book about 2 months ago and have been casually reading it since. There is SOOO much gold in it, I've been reading it slow because I come up with tons of great ideas just from a few pages of material. +rep to the OP for the summary. Anyone who hasn't read this book that is serious about marketing, needs to pick up a copy ASAP.

Book looks good.

This guys a direct advertising surgeon? Where the fuck is the call to action to buy his book on Cashvertising.com? His website is also ugly as fuck.

That point above makes me skeptical of him personally, but the book still looks amazing regardless.
