Anyone here play Eve?

I only play games to blow off steam really. Like if I have been going hard for a couple hours, I will play for 30 minutes and then go back to work.

I don't understand the whole "taking over my life" deal with video games.

That's just an excuse for people with no willpower.

I will play for 30 minutes and then go back to work.

30 mins? Really? What can you do in a MMO game with only 30 mins? It takes that long to login and to find yourslef a new quest! I haven't seen anyone play for less than 1-2 hours, while most would do 3-4 hours and the hardcore die hard fans can do 6-12 hours a DAY.

Huge huge waste of time. Precious time that you could use to either do some work, hit the gym, go out smell some fresh air, get a blowjob or just socialize with real people.

That's like saying "books don't interest me anymore". You are missing on some great games man. MMOs are getting cookie cutter and aren't what they used to be but there are plenty of other games that are nothing short of amazing.

Here are just a few:

1) Starcraft Series
2) Diablo Series
3) Minecraft
4) Terraria
5) Portal 1 & 2
6) Skyrim
7) Fallout Series
8) Civilization Series
9) FF7
10) Amnesia

and that's just a small list...

I understand what you're saying, but I just feel like my time is better spent elsewhere. Yes even on what entertainment I choose.

Eve is a sandbox, you don't have to do quests.

You login, check your market orders, update your skill queue, ping some friends and then logout.

If I really wanna spend some time playing, I ninja salvage which takes a minimum of 10 mins up to however much time I wanna spend.

I dunno, maybe I am just the world's smartest mmo player. I don't think so, but maybe.

There is something almost everyone does that someone else will think is unproductive. The time to reset my mind is priceless and helps me get a lot more work done.

The goal for all of us isn't to work more and make more money, it is to work less and make more money. Never ever forget that.

Surprised no gay webmaster posted this

Had no idea you where an MMO player G. Run fast in the opposite direction before it consumes you bro.

Playing WOW years ago is partly what got me into IM. I thought what else could I do that's online but produces assets that are actually tangible. This was mainly due to seeing my flatmate at the time sink 10-16 hours a day for a year with nothing to show for it other than a maxed out character.

Agree with guerilla though a short break on a good game can really help clear the head and lead to more productive work.

I'm surprised no one else plays. I didn't think there would be 50 guys, but I was wondering if there was another pilot here, possibly doing some cool stuff.

I don't play EVE but I play Civ 5. Took a while to get into it but multiplayer is fun. And I just started playing Alice: Madness returns (never played the old one so fuck off haters) its some cool stuff especially after smoking a couple of fat joints. Very helpful to improve creativity and just take a break/refresh.

I played Eve in beta. Just wasn't my cup of tea. I didn't like the fact that you couldn't get out of your ship and interact as a character in space stations and cities. One of the guys I worked with at my last real job plays it and can drone on and on about his exploits, the corp he's with and the battles they get into.

I play a bit of Warhammer Online. My buddy that plays WoW religiously keeps nagging at me to play a real game but I like Warhammer. I'm eagerly awaiting the Warhammer 40k MMORPG that is due out sometime in the future.

I play some BF3.

The other game that I play from time to time is WWIIOL which is a MMO with a single arena that is a half scale map of Europe and it simulates the early stages of WWII with technology advancing through the later stages until the victory conditions are met, then the map resets. You can play Germans, Brits and French and they just introduced the US into the game. You can play as infantry, armour, field guns, movers (trucks, half tracks and transport aircraft), combat aircraft, bombers, patrol boats and naval vessels... pretty much every type of unit that existed you can play. Battles range over may miles in both the countryside and huge cities. As far as combat games go, there's really nothing else like it.

Babylonian, that's only true if your life goals don't include becoming digital and living forever as a being of pure energy.
