@Sonny - Thats my point I guess, I'm not saying people aren't killin it, I'm asking where are the ferrari's? lambos? limos? massive mansions chock full of shit? If someone is banking over $1m/yr, I'd expect to see all that stuff and more. And the best I've seen is some dude's smashed Viper or (probably leased) Audi TT. Shit, I could lease a new M5 and I'm not banking $100k/mo.
I like the high end sports cars as much as the next guy, but when I think about it, I work at home. My 5 year old car just broke 15k miles. At this rate, that thing will probably last forever. A new car will end up doing what the current one is doing... sitting in the garage depreciating

Damn that is some creative wordsmithery there z =P

I don't think that there's anything wrong with treating yourself for a job well done.

Some people are motivated by achieving goals and getting rewards. Others are motivated by giving money & time to support causes, but it's all ego satisfaction.

Nobody said that the only thing the OP does with his money is buy expensive plastic sports cars anyway, he could be very philanthropic for all we know.

To me, the problem arises when you put a priority on buying toys and other short term ego satisfying vanities.

BTW - I missed the threads of altruistic behavior - got any links, I'm curious to see something praiseworthy!

It truly is all ego satisfaction, you're right about that, it's the way some people go about it.. Supposing I was fat and treated poorly all my life and I went out and bought a viper to help me feel better, how long would that last? How long before you're back at your shitty old self?

By feeding your ego this way you're only decreasing your ability to connect with a large percentile of the population. The most remarkable people that existed on this planet didn't pursue money all their life. Imagine the personal insight you would gain by having a true one on one with Newton, Dr. Sagan, Tesla (insert personal hero's here).. These are all people that transcended their former self to become truly devoted to a cause that in the end became greater than themselves.

These interesting people would never even give the time of day to someone who projects themselves as an empty and purposeless human being. The shackles of ego will forever bind them to a world of superficial interactions and a leave them with an even bigger void to fill.

If you use that money to help people, these people will still be around all your life and you will gradually raise above your former self knowing that you truly helped people lead a better life. All a viper will cause is approval among people who aren't worth your time, and resentment from the rest who may be. I said it before and I'll say it again, no one who realizes the potential lost by buying a viper is capable of such a purchase.

The altruistic posts that got praise are just random ones I saw over my time here, the latest that come to mind are in the goals of 2009 thread about animal shelters.

Thanks for saying I have good word smithery also :), English isn't my native language and I appreciate it.

I get that some people don't like spending money. But remember in marketing you have to tell a congruent story. In other words, don't tell me how much you're killin it and then twitter that your trying to save $5 by sneaking food into the movies in your girlfriends handbag.

$5 is nothing, even to people on an average wage. Life isn't a computer game and your don't keep score via your bank balance. They only reason to make money is so you can do things or have things and I don't see much of either amongst the 'rockstar super-affiliates'.

Edit: By 'rockstar super-affiliates', I mean guys on here or in blogs who can't stop telling you how hard they bank.
Living in excess isn't the only reason. I'll be the first to admit I don't make as much money as several people on here. I do good enough.
But some people live for the competition(me). For some people the numbers going up is a great wait to quantify success, much the same way someone with a 3.9 GPA going into senior year in high school will still work to get a 4.0.
We're a fucking quirky group. Judging everyone by any one standard is a massive fail.

And for the record, I don't think bloggers are the top of the affiliate foodchain by any stretch(Amit Mehta being the perfect example). But throwing them all into the same bucket is not even rational.
I don't write anymore in my blog(might again soon), but I'd like to think I'm better than the slop that statements like that toss me into.

I try not to judge how another person spends their money. It's all relative. If your happy, that's all that matters.

I will, however, judge you for believing that a Giant Fairy rules the universe. Sorry, you really should be in an institution and the only reason your not is cause you have a moral majority feeding your delusions.
/random thread rant sure to fall into my pointless %99 tally.

Sumit, cutting through the bullshit as usual!

Hello friend,

Have understand that affiliate marketer no is richest and most success peoples in world. If look at list of Forbe 100 most rich I no see affiliate marketer.

Affiliate market can make you very good money. Much more then average person make. But no think can make you billionaire. Maybe no yet but possible in future.

Affiliate market do give all around world oppurtunity to make good money even in country poor. With affiliate market any can make what considered good money by standard of western country. Can make more in day then what most other in country make month or even year.

Good luck bro

Good luck dollar cost averaging in a sideways or slightly down market (for property, in real terms). I'm not buying any shares or property for at least another 2 years (although I may play with options). The opportunity cost of having money in either market at the moment is too high.

You are a fucking idiot. This may perhaps be the best time to buy stocks in your lifetime and you're passing on it?

I've spent all my extra money on stock lately. I started buying up shares of stock in January 2008 and then proceeded to watch this massive stock decline and I'm only down 1.37% as of the close on Friday. I cannot wait til the market sees a real rebound.

Dude, I will sneak that $5 snack or food into the movie every time, that will never change about me. I am cheap as shit and will always be no matter how much money I have. And a lot of big affiliates are the same way.

The great thing about money is not that you can waste it on shit at the movies, it is financial independence. It is knowing I can drop whatever the hell I am doing and fly anywhere in the world, or if I wanted I could buy whatever car I wanted. It isn't the feeling you get from doing it, it the feeling you know you could if you actually wanted to. If I want to go to Vegas for the weekend and visit Cakes and I happen to lose a lot of money playing craps, I can afford to (it happens i dunno, i just lose money around him).

So big affiliates will usually be cheap. It is all about saving money, living below your means and having financial independence for the rest of your life. Not wasting it on useless shit to look cool.

thread hijacker FTW.

1st cup of coffee down the hatch, it's a .jpg, I thought it was one of those files saved as a .gif for unknown random reasons.

What does spending money on materialistic things have to doing with being successful you watch too many movies and rap videos. Its always the people insecure and wanna-be's that try and say look at my car look at my watch. Fuck that shit. You know what kind of house and car Warren Buffet has? I have driven fast cars eaten at the best resturants in the world. Guess what old school 67 chevy camero torque(Porsche twin-turbo 2nd place) and a $20 steak you grilled can't be beat! Looking back the best times I have ever had was when i was young with no money and no worries stress free drinking 40's. You can't buy genuine moments with friends and family those are the times I look back on and really enjoy.

I'm not one of these guys that brags about money but I do fine for myself. Fuck You. How much someone makes does not necessarily have anything to do with how much they spend. If I made 100 million dollars per year, I would still try to save a buck where I could. The true retards are the ones that don't try to save, spend all their money and somehow end up in debt after blowing thousands/millions of dollars on shit.

fully agree. you don't need to be a very smart guy to become wealthy. the most difficult thing is keeping the money where it belongs: in your pocket.

-

also: there's a difference about just spending and taking risks. If I spend a shitload of money on testing new campaigns it doesn't hurt myself nearly as much as if I'd walk in front of a car dealer and give him that amount of money for an M6. But well, you can always get an expensive toy as a reward for hitting a specific goal, probably what heavyt did.

why does everyone keep saying that. it's a 10 year old, piece of shit. my paperboy has a better car.

it's an overpriced car with an engine that sounds nice. probably the perfect american car.
