After Tomorrow No More Rebills

I heard from a friend that a lot of people are starting to use online Checks for continuity and rebilling. I'd be happy to pass along any of your information to my friend and im sure he would be glad to help you all out. PM me if you are interested

No problem. Let me give you my routing number to my checking account for that rebill. I always carry my checkbook in my back pocket.

It's bullshit what wells fargo is doing, but they are beholden to the rules of VISA and MasterCard.

the settlement in checking account payments suck... it takes a month to get the funds (at-least in EU).... affiliates would murder u if u make them wait so much for the funds.

...and even the pretend affiliates who spread fake news around and pretend to be balling but really just get sponsored to fly everywhere and say they are doing shit when they really know dick.

This is the "real life" version of flogs. I'm surprised none have been outed yet.

i know this isn't rebill, but how does Taco Bell get away with a tv commercial like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZ89JaxqVgI

they blatantly say that its not typical results

They also described the calorie intake on a daily basis. You can say whatever the fuck you want as long as there is a proper description of how it was attained. Just saying results not typical anymore doesn't fly...needs to be accompanied by more. Like I lost 10 lbs (based on a one taco (300 calorie) a day diet and a 3 hr workout 6 times a week) from eating at taco bell.

You just need to as descriptive as possible and don't bury it in T&Cs which is considered deceptive.

Does anyone have any sources for Visa closing merchant accounts or fining merchants for rebills?

they are trying the subway route except with a woman

Yep, and Richard Cleland said they wouldn't go after Subway because a "reasonable person" wouldn't believe that those were typical results from eating at Subway.

That would go for Taco Bell as well.

So the typical results issue is pretty much subjective.

I've seen weight loss, acne and other commercials that still used the old "typical results" format. I've only seen one company that had compliant commercials so far and that was the NEW skin Id commercial with Hayden Panettiere. So basically most of these companies aren't taking the new rules seriously.

When they see the results (low sales numbers) of running commercials that are FTC compliant they will go back to what they were doing before.

Regarding rule#2 ... Netflix runs an exemplary rebill model. I highly doubt they would be targeted. Yahoo exempted Netflix from their display rebill ban.

At the end of the day, it is all about the money.

And let's be honest, Netflix doesn't sell a shit product. With netflix they promise to ship you the dvd of your choosing and guess what... you get it. With some scam fuckin biz opp they promise you a method to making 30K a month for a few hours of work a day. Big difference.

Everyone has some responsibility. A network and publisher has the responsibility to ensure the ads are truthful, call centers, merchant accounts are digging to deep in to the responsibility of the advertisers

It exists on all ends, the network, the advertisers, the publishers, and the media space the ad shows on. The network is in the middle to make sure both sides use common sense. The problem is this. as a network we make all advertisers follow guidelines based on common sense (we imposed guidelines on dec 24th, most pubs ran to the offers taken down yesterday). You as a publisher test it, the offer sucks but that new network started by some guy living out of his car has a killer offer which isn't compliant but it gives you the EPC you need so of course you run it. Now that you took over the ad space that a pub was running a compliant offer on, he now needs to go to that cool network too, and run the same shitty offer to compete with you because you raised bids by 20% due to the awesome performance of the shady offer. How long until the network doing the right thing is going to say F it and bring that advertiser back in to get your business?

Every offer in Copeac has to follow the following rules as of two weeks ago. If you see someone not following contact me so we can redirect them.

No up sells at all.
No use of countdown timers or only xx orders left language,
No use of celebrities without consent (this applies to pubs more),
Must respond to all BBB complaints,
Cannot rebill twice in a 30 day period,
Clear disclosure of terms in a 12 point font or larger within close proximity of the submit button. No confusing certificates which use satisfaction guaranteed language.

I will tell you, since making these choices some advertisers told us they will just work with another network not asking them to do this, and pubs have decided to work with those networks. In the end i know those helping bad advertisers wont be paid, and in a way i am happy some people hold out, since they will be the ones hit by large non-payment for the media ran and hopefully will be pushed out of the space

So unless EVERYONE makes a push in the right direction, one force cannot do it. I do know many networks want to make these same changes but are fearful of the loss they can take if others are allowed to bend the rules because they dont care about the long term

In the end everyone plays a role especially the publishers. you control the demand, if demand is pushing for a shady offer, then shady offer is what youll see.

If all the networks force their advertisers to follow simple common sense guidelines that prevents them from going to the dark side to get traffic and publishers dont support the shady offers this market might be around past Jan 10th.

Those who say Adapt, how can you adapt in a monopoly where the monopoly partner (Visa/MC) CEO's have made it a mission to clean this industry up or force them out of the market?

Mike you seem to have missed one on your network that misses the disclosure. Just trying to keep you safe.

i was researching new offers to launch and came across a little shadiness on the google profits offer. doesnt copeac have this offer? obviously these offers will all be a little shady but i was just reading about the new terms and conditions mike at copeac has proposed.

in the T&C for this offer there's is a line about a fee for $47.50 a month. the offer page says that the consumer will be only billed once for $47.50 and $99 after 15 and 30 days, respectively. nothing more.

there is a paragraph about a rebill on the bottom of the page. Its in not clear disclosure of terms in a 12 point font or larger within close proximity of the submit button. its in a small light blue font which one has to really look for to find. i didnt initially see it at first glance hence pretty much every idiot ordering this probably wont see it. the consumer is notified of the rebill it is not clearly laid out for them so they can expect the a charge every month.

now that there's heat on rebills i've been taking a closer look at everything. i wasnt sure if you knew about this so just thought i'd let you know mike.

Mike I saw you are against any upsells whatsoever... but what about upsells that are not forced... specifically.. an upsell that discloses the price upfront, and they simply click YES or NO in regards to whether or not they want to tack it on to their order?

I can't wait till they ban continuity , that way I only pay a flat fee to buy my servers at the colo center and can rack up the bill!

Same with cell phones, when their rebills are canceled, I can use as many minutes as I want HA HA HA!
