Facebook Social Ads

Those stats are over 1 week, but I had my daily budget low - $30 to $50 but never more then $50/day for this campaign.

I was more or less getting a feel for this particular dating offer and your right $100 profit in a week isn't worth the headache but I find once you gather a bit of data and know which is your top performing ads are then its easy to increase your daily budget to get the traffic and start increasing those daily profits.

Basically when I'm doing this (On offers I don't have a lot of data on) I'll set a low daily budget, let it go for a good week to slowly gather the data I need, once I have that data, I stop all my split-testing, create a new campaign with only the highest converting ads (Usually the ones which also have a decent CTR) and then increase the daily budget and continue to do a/b testing on those top converting ads.

If you've got the money to spend, dating offers on Facebook can easily generate a 150 - 200% ROI.

I'm not sure what ROI is acceptable for you but I'm happy with ranges above 100%.

But just to be clear if I get a 100% ROI on $100 that means I made $200 - $100 of that profit, I know some people calculate ROI differently by saying a 100% ROI is breaking even - Had that discussion lots with peeps in the past haha.

Oh ok, I didn't know that you had a low budget on the campaigns, I thought that the impressions were simply maxing out on their own. I usually split-test 20-30 campaigns at a $100/day budget per campaign, wait till I have at least 250 clicks for each campaign, and then optimize on my best one. It's sloppy, but less time consuming for me personally.

Yea, know what you mean, since really it can stand for:
Return On Investment
or
Return Of Investment.

Yeah I usually test 10 different variations of 1 ad, usually start out with testing different images, but I find that even using a well formed spread sheet it can become a bitch to continually figure out which ads are the top ads.

What I'm going to create is a script for my personal use which taps into the affiliate companies API, and also taps into my facebook campaign, from there I'm going to have it track clicks, impressions, conversion rates, CTR, times of the day, week, ect... the most conversions were made.

Also going to create an easy way to edit, update, create ads, the whole works just to enable me to cut down dramatically on the amount of time it takes to manually go over and split test, ect...

My main goal by the end of it is to put myself into a position of moderation with my FaceBook and Adwords campaigns, so that every hour my script gives my phone and email an update on there status, which is doing the best, which ads to kill, ect...

I figure if done right the time it takes would be cut down by like 75% leaving me more time to focus on the best converting offers, and to really begin to rake in the cash.

How many of those disapproved ads with the message "Ads for this product, service or site will not be accepted in any form, and may result in your account being disabled." does it take for your account to get banned?

And thanks for all that info Aequitas

As long as you don't keep re-submitting ads like a maniac, you shouldn't worry about getting your account disabled.

Just keep it to a max of 5-10 submits per hour.

The image seems to change the playing field A LOT for my ads. I can literally go from a 0.02% to a 0.35% just from a simple image change. But that is where dating gets hard with. Most of the images that have a good looking girl get disapproved, which is where excessive submission comes into affect.

Anyhow, nice script you thought of there, sounds convenient.

So some of you know me, I post on here once in a while. I work on the advertising team at Facebook. You are correct, if you submit a ton of ads that are disapproved they will shut down your account without warning. One easy way around this is to work with an account rep, such as myself. This way, when you are in danger of being shut down, you will at least get a warning and an explanation for why you are in volation of our terms. If you don't have a rep and need any other advice. Feel free to PM me and I will give you my contact info.

Just got a quick question here. Has anyone had any luck asking facebook to up your spending limit before you reach it manually? I mean when you run across a good campaign you are sorta bummed out when you have that spending limit holding you back.

Just read.

It seems like all 'wickedfire' now tries to make something on dating offers with Facebook. Minimum bids are from 0.43 until 0.70. It is not worth it. 0.15-0.18? Maybe not for US?

haha first off its been like that for awhile now, promoting anything for the US is pricey on FaceBook, you need to expand your horizons, the US and Canada are not the only cash cows on the net.

There are tons of other countries which can earn you some cash and the bids are still low and when you find the right one you can even get more conversions then you would if you were targeting the US or Canada and thats because a lot of the other countries out there have not yet heard about a lot of the half-assed main stream websites out there.

Sometimes it's better to keep people stupid about "broading their horizon" ;-).

I spoke with the facebook guy at ASW and if I recall right he told me they're going to make an API to access their ad system. Lets hope that happens soon, not that you can't do stuff without it but once actually suported it can be a big help.

Yeah thats forsure, I can pretty much become automated once that API hits, my ad system I've been working on for awhile now could really benefit from it, as long as we can get our impressions, ctr, clicks, ect... out of it I'll be happy to have programable access to my stats.

I don't even care if they don't open it to automate ad creation, as long as my stats can get automatically transfered to my own systems I'd be laughing.

135 clicks, .2% CTR, 0 conversions.

I hate my life.

I had 200-300 between conversions some time today and still sitting at .35 ecpc but I am in at .20-.25 cent bids so I am content. It just takes a lot of money to make anything decent. For some reason I get the best converts from facebook around 4-8am and its horrible during the day. I get like 1% conversion in the morning and then 0.5% during the day. I wish there was some way to like Just have your ads run during certain times without it trying to space the ad budget throughout the day and having to constantly monitor/pause it.

This also depends much more on the types of offers your promoting, dating will do better during the later hours, offers targeted towards business might do better in the morning/afternoon, ect....

Offers targeted to young teens will do bad during the day but after 3 or 4 they will do much better, simply because most young teens are in school during the other hours.
