You Bitched, We Listened. Sorta.

Lets put it this way whatever 'system' you impose on the BST, someone if they really wanted to could totally game it to their advantage.

I don't think there is a perfect system.

You'll have everything from bumping syndicates if bumps are created by thread comments, to people with shit BS services but a lot of cash who pay to bump, who of which will then close one account down create another plus a new paypal account and just keep burning them out one by one.

It has nothing to do with me being senior, if you think I'm wrong dude tell me and we can keep going back and forth until we find something we agree on - progress isn't made by bowing to assumed status.

I'm just giving my opinion in hopes of helping guide everything in a direction that will work longterm and not alienate too many people, while not losing too much to bullshit. Too much control is the antichrist of progress, but a happy medium is so fucking hard to find.

Haha No. I am not bowing to any sort of assumed status. I just stated my opinion, but I have never moderated this community, so my inputs as a new member don't hold as much importance. (That's again only and only my opinion)

I have run 4 big boards in my days and for every board the code of moderation is different. I believe, so is the case for this forum.

I have only recently become a part of WF and I am totally in love with the community. Whereas, you've been around much longer and I believe that you're a moderator as well.

You know how moderators work here, the kind of difficulties they deal with, the amount of spammers we have, the amount of creative spammers that we have et al. So I assumed you'd know best on how you'd track down the multiple account bitches.

Just my $0.02 :D

He's old as fuck in real life too :D

I am sure about that. I am sure.

I just thought of something that hasn't been pointed out yet. A bunch of people have brought up that sellers would keep paying the $30 on their new accounts. However, most of the retarded sellers here keep using the same PayPal email address over and over again. I'm sure something could be setup to instant ban anybody who tries to pay with the same PayPal address under different accounts.

You forget we have people here who sell Paypal accounts. Getting a new Paypal account shouldn't be that hard for people hellbent on getting back here.

P.S - 100th post bitches :D

A good move imo.. This will make the BST more efficient and people will be able to find high quality providers quicker then going through a bunch of threads.. For quality providers a fee is never a problem, since they can be sure to make it back in a day or two.. Thumbs up on the decision!

This is a good idea, and much appreciated. While the $20 fee may not cut back on the amount of shitty services in the BST, what it will do is help to reward zingo and the other mods who have to spend countless hours combing through this clusterfuck and banning the same idiots over and over.

People also need to start using common sense when buying services on here.

Not really, those members are normally banned. Seriously, the majority of the shitty vendors keep using the same email over and over again. Obviously nothing is perfect, but it would help.

How about we make it a queued wait to have the ability to create a thread in the SBT section? Once a week, there's a skype video chat with each seller asking access. A mod or whomever offers to head up this vetting group takes a picture of the person while they're talking with them about their service so they can check against the list of retards banned from the SBT.

You could further limit the abuse aspect of this by having them hold up written-on paper and having them speak about their service while you ask questions so you know the person isn't talking to them while someone else is on camera.

Ahaha, that's ridiculous!

The problem with this is, we're not Sitepoint.

WF is not a Marketplace dominated website, we're a bunch of gay affiliates/webmasters first, and sellers/buyers second.

The mods want to spend less time banning accounts. The legit buyers and sellers want a cleaned up marketplace. That's a very good way to go about it.

If Jon wants to have it be paid, fine, it's his forum. It won't really stop the influx of shit sellers. However, you take a personal interview and know that you have a waiting period to go through as well, you can't bot that and you can't get enough fake accounts to really manipulate that more than a few times if you really tried hard.

The cost/benefit just isn't there to game heavily like it is now or with a paid entry. Thus, less time is wasted by mods with such a system.

let's make it so everyone can ban everyone so we can sepuku the shit out of this place and stop everyone from posting their ideas to Jon because for the love of fuck, he ain't listenin' and is going to implement what he thinks is best

Hi,

While I am a new seller here (and new member for that matter), I think its a great idea to make people pay.

One question that I do have though, I am not too sure how it will work if we already have existing threads? Can I just pay the fee and keep my already existing thread opened (so I can keep my nice reviews and stuff in one place...) or will it just be a closed thread, and I have to make a new one?

I don't mind paying at all, in fact, I thought there was some premium membership at this site that I was looking to go after, but I think someone said there wasn't...

At any rate, hopefully you can answer my question.

Take it easy,

J
Premium membership is not open to peasants and frankly should not even be brought up in public.
