That's not a new idea... you can get "review site in a box" stuff from Warrior Forums type places any day. It's been done as a niche CMS, there was just a void for a working plugin for WordPress. You could probably make plugins for other CMS's that don't have one yet either.

Welcome to the American commercial marketplace. You don't seriously think each and every product you buy is original? Wordpress itself is an offshoot idea of another product. You call them "the brains", I call them "the consumer".

I can certainly appreciate you sticking up for him since he did go the extra mile and give you a free copy of his script. I do not think that masking the drawbacks of his product with a good review from a respected WF member such as yourself does anyone any good. While it is likely a work in progress, it's not a $300 product. I want you go look into Clip-share.com, Alstrasoft, and any number of other packages just to see what happens when a buggy/incomplete product is brought to market. TONS of people get ripped off.

Do you really think the Ford 500 was inspired by some engineer in Detroit?

Nobody else has said it so I will....you're a fucking tool.

No...it makes you a fucking tool...I never said you were a douchebag.

You won't be able to program a damn thing if you can't get basic shit like this straight.

So I suppose that icon you used is accidental? Keep to the sidelines, fail-boi.

A True Wordpress Plugin

WP Review Site is a true Wordpress plugin in that it is installed and behaves as one. It does not modify any Wordpress MySQL tables, can be deactivated or activated just like any other plugin, and fully integrates into the Wordpress administration panel.

I give this "pissing match" 5 stars! (4 of them to bb-wolfe!)

I've totally enjoyed reading these threads,- awesome entertainment,.. and I gotta say that I really like this bb_wolfe character,.. I reckon he's got balls to say it as he sees it and certainly not in any kind of kiss ass manner. I'd like to encourage Mr Wolfe to indulge in a few more malts while posting just so we can see some real entertainment and let him really rip into it.
It's clear to me that bb-wolfe not only has made a really valid point on this whole issue about Grossman and his cool plug in and along the way demonstrated that he does in fact know a thing about customer service, marketing and listening to what the market really wants and needs. I say "here here" let the consumers dictate and rule when it comes to selling anything. If Sergey Brin and Larry Page had adopted Mr Grossman's attitude of "telling the market" then we wouldn't have a Google today and they wouldn't be US$30bn richer between them! They came, they saw, they listened, they delivered,..and kicked ass!
I recently was engaged by a client to customize a Brian Gardner theme and to find a kick-ass star ratings plug in that would perform some very specific but simple tasks. After searching back and forth and inside out I downloaded several plugins that I thought were OK and that could be adapted (many of which had Grossman's code stamped on them in some way shape or form). Finally I concluded that the hands down winner was Grossmans WPSR and so we went ahead and bought it. My verdict is thus: Great plugin concept which falls way short of practical features that should be stock standard at $99. At first I thought. .."whoa 99 bucks is a bit sharp" ..but what the heck.. I know that such a script takes some nifty coding (hence the lack of real competition facing Grossman's product at present) so decided to take the plunge for the 99 smackeroonies! Ultimately I've got to say that I'm disappointed in the lack of functionality and the need for manual placement of code and fiddling around...for $99 bucks this freaking thing should drive like a Ferrari,..not a model T Ford that you've got to prime and then get out front to crank over before it will move.

It seems to me that Mr Grossman has somewhat of an indifferent attitude towards critics of his plugin and a slightly arrogant attitude to suggestions that things should be changed. Listen up you dickwads... when you pay $99 for a commercial product don't be afraid to stand up and speak out for what you should be getting....which is a Ferrari...not a model T.
I'm not one for ass kissing and brown nosing so I'll be up front and say two things. Mr Grossman, I think your plug in is conceptually excellent. Your coding is clean and very professional indeed and I commend you for it. But why oh why not roll your sleeves up and finish the job? To introduce a free plugin and tell the market that "improvements and tweaks" will be forthcoming in latter releases is fine,.. but when you're releasing a commercial product at a premium price you're not afforded that luxury in my opinion,..and anyone that shells out their hard earned cash for your product only to say "oh it's fine Dan... no problem,,, we'll wait for any improvements that you're gracious enough to include" ..in my opinion are just a pack of suckers, losers & pussies! Anyway,.. in conclusion, me and my trusty php programmer (who also has BSc degrees coming out of his ass) are happily working away even as we speak to tweak your otherwise excellent script to do what we want it to do and what it should do without all of that 'get out a hand crank it' bullshit.
I'll be watching out for Mr Wolfe's impending release of his product with interest,..and if it takes a little longer than he's indicated then who cares...as long as he gets there in reasonable enough time to jump on the bandwagon so to speak (and God bless America,- home of free spirited competitive commercialism,..and fuck the rest of the socialistic kiss-ass world)!
As for Mr Grossman saying he's not really making a living from this plug in.... are you kidding me?... over 250 downloads as we speak is $25,000 in the first two months... well done,- now could you consider reinvesting a little of that profit to give the market a better product and then you'll sell twice as many!

Hey, thanks for the bump... didn't read the big block of text, but I did get a chance to notice bb_wolfe saying he's shooting for a Nov. 1st launch of the beta which I had missed before).

So yeah... bb_wolfe, don't forget to hook me up with a copy of the beta!

What's wrong with this WP review plugin concept?
If people have a problem with pricing, don't buy it.
If you think that you can do better and offer better pricing, do it.

The market decides if pricing is ok or not. This is free entreprise.

First of all, I have no idea who this guy from Thailand is, Jon or XCMP can back me up when I say it's not my post.

Second, Grossman has a decent product, it's not bad, just not what I need, or what any one of 50+ people who have contacted me about my plugin have told me they want. Dan's product has it's place, it works, and people are extremely happy with his plugin.

Third, we're on track for a launch of Nov 15th, those who were promised betas will certainly get them, but only when the product is rated 'no known bugs'. We're extremely close and have implimented 100% of what was asked, it's just also extraordinarily complex and a lot of testing is required. Thank god Compuware exists.

wow Wickidfire logged me out twice while reading this thread! looking forward to have a look at your plugin wolfe and critiquing it.

And wow don't think i've done this much no legal reading in a while!

It appears that my pat-on-the-back for bb_wolfe may have been interpreted as though he himself was posing incognito to add some further justification to his cause,... but nope,.. I really do exist as a totally individual living technicolor dude residing in the Kingdom of Thailand (its a hard life). You can check me out at my blog at http://russrave.com if you like. It's early daze for the blog right now but at least you should be able to see that I'm not a holographic figment of bb_wolfes' imagination.
Again,.. 3 cheers for bb_wolfe for having the guts to speak his mind and come up with an alternative,,, and kudos to Dan Grossman for producing a very well coded script and product in the first place,- even if it is only half finished and twice the price it should be. Just my 2 cents!

Hey bb_wolfe,
For your plugin will it have the ability to run more than one "review area" on the same domain and single WP install? Curious about licensing if that is still a single license or multi or developer. For example if I run an auto racing website, I might have a section that review rims, and another section that reviews local mechanic shops, on the same website. Thanks.

License is (and should be) for unlimited domains. What you do with your category structure is entirely up to you.

Not sure a site reviewing how guys rim is going to make you a lot of dough, just my .02... :xmas-smiley-016:

We're working hard on it, but with conferences and life in general, it's just taking a few extra days. There are a lot of features that will allow affiliates and local marketers to make some HUGE bank.
