What movies you watching

You just listed some cult classics and act like no one heard of them

You might be reading a lot into the phrase "might not have seen". Seemed a fair assumption, given that you just now got around to watching Inception :)

But, fair enough. Here's a few that aren't as well known:

Bad Boys - No, not the shitty comedy. This one stars Sean Penn.

Let Me In - Great horror flick. Related, the original, Swedish version Let the Right One In I don't usually like subtitled films, but this was really good.

Event Horizon - SciFi movie that's genuinely scary.

True you got me there ha. I haven't seen the others you listed, so I will check those out

It opened my eyes to new levels of commitment. He showed true zeal for his business, a real dedication. I recommend this to anyone who's starting out or has been in business for themselves.

The White Queen

On Amazon Prime

The Wars of the Roses, prior to King Henry VII and VIII

^^ Rather enjoyed that series.

If we're talking TV series, here are a few suggestions that you might not have seen...

Copper - About a NYC Five Points detective during the Civil War era. BBC America show with fantastic characters, costumes, staging and cinematography. Ran for two seasons and well worth a watch.

Ripper Street - Victorian era detective story based in London just post Jack the Ripper. BBC UK show as above. Colorful characters, amazing costumes, fantastic staging, great cinematography. Ran for two seasons with a third on Amazon Prime. There's a possibility that it will come back for a fourth.

Boardwalk Empire - I'm still amazed at the number of people I meet that haven't watched it. Prohibition era rum running gangsters, written by Terrence Winter (The Sopranos).

Selfridges - The story of Harry Selfridge, who created the London department store by the same name in 1909, and the characters surrounding him. Coming back for a third season soon.

The Knick - Only just started watching this one, but my buddy swears it's one of the best things on TV. Also an early 1900s period piece (see a trend here?) about a hospital in NYC.

I'll list some of the movies I've watched lately that I've enjoyed in my next post.

Just finished watching The Drop, not bad. Slower/indy style. But good performance by Tom Hardy.

Check out Kingsman - Secret Service, pretty entertaining

Shows:
Outlander
Fargo
Better Call Saul

Fargo, definitely. Was also watching American Detective around the same time, which was remarkably good. If you haven't seen it you're missing out.

There's a second American Detective coming, with an all new cast and story.

It is called True Detective in the US.

eta: if you want a documentary series in that same flavor, but true story, this is on Sunday or Monday nights:
The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst (2015) - IMDb

The first 2 parts have already aired, it is creep as fuck.

My personal favourites - most are mob/gangster type, so if that's your thing, then you'll love them.

A Bronx Tale (1973)
American Gangster (2007)
Goodfellas (1990)
The Godfather (All 3 Parts)
Boiler Room (2000)
Glengarry Glen Ross (1992)
Rush (2013)
Scarface (1983)
The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)
8 Mile (2002)
Carlito's Way (1993)
Mean Streets (1973)

Oh, and a few rubbish ones I've seen lately:

The Bag Man <<<< WTF was that about? Probably one of the worst ever De Niro movies...
The Guest <<< watched it for 30 mins, then had to turn it off before I vomited due to quality of acting
Ride Along <<< fell asleep after an hour...

Based on your viewing habits, I'm surprised you haven't watched Peaky Blinders. Just started it on Netflix and looks pretty fucking solid.

Gladiator speed sports not your style... netflix has some good Tarantino flicks: Pulp Fiction, Resivoir Dogs and Kill Bill. You might try Rosemarie's Baby by Polanski.

I thought this was terrible and barely funny at all. Started off very weak with an unfunny bit. The only funny joke was about his grandfather telling him about death. Even though he writes new material constantly, it sounds like the same setups and jokes. We get that you are grumpy and hate doing stuff.
No I'm definitely with you there. His jokes aren't as funny as they used to be, and yes, his grumpy persona is what drives most of his jokes. Still worthy of a watch though IMO.

Grand Budapest Hotel was very good too.
