Wearing high-end brand clothing?

I buy clothes when my old ones are worn out. My favourite t-shirt is 10 years old and I still wear it. In fact, my newest t-shirt is about 3 years old. Until last month, when I bought 2 new pairs of jeans for about £70 - cheap non-branded - I hadn't bought anything in about 2 years or more.

I don't own a suit, a dress shirt or a tie. I own one pair of shoes and have worn them only to weddings and funerals. Anyone that expects me to dress up for any other reason can go fuck themselves.

My suits and shirts are generally not branded, they are tailored. And still cost me less than shopping at the above "high end" shit.

My casual clothes are just basic casual gear, i get 50% off @ ralph so that's probably the only obviously branded label that I wear.

BUT SRSLY $500 on a hoodie? what?

Kmart and target?

Are you fucking kidding me?

You're a strange one. Clearly you have some issues and require your ego stroking.

Not only do you apparently like to parade around in a vulgar display of money, as a brand whore and a victim of "teh millyonair lifestile", but you need to start a thread to tell everyone you do this. I can only imagine it's so we praise you and/or agree?

Well, I think you're a twat. Doubly so for insulting people who don't like to let everyone know what they do or don't earn by dressing like a popstar.

poisonsembrace might have serious Apple hatred, and in a seemingly retarded way, but you hating on people for not dressing like they are desperate for recognition as being wealthy is far more pathetic.

I can see where you are coming from. Your favorite t-shirt is 10 years old and is probably a piece of shit anyway. I guess it's your style is to wear old worn-out clothing.

Do any of you guys drive nice cars? A luxury car like a BMW or a Mercedes? Do you want to walk out of that car wearing clothing you bought at Walmart?

I think it's quite a difference of expensive and quality clothing.

Example: I once bought an Ed Hardy Shirt, simply black with some cool logo on it (not the skull as usual was just like a small banner which said christian audigier on it). Thought it really looked nice. Like 1 month later the colours were washed out, shirt looked like dirt and I maybe got to wear it about 3-4 times max.

On the other, I got a laptop bag by Louis Vuitton. Looking at the quality over 3 years and the travels I made with it, definately worth the investment. Nowadays enough alternatives to the classical Louis Vuitton Monogram so you can 'stay under the radar' with pretty simple stuff by this company for example.

On the other, a Rolex Daytona is cool for sure same as a Mercedes although both are overpriced for sure.

My point here: what's the problem with wearing high priced, branded clothes or driving expensive cars ? If you can afford it, you probably do not harm anybody by doing this - so what's the downside of it if you really can afford ? In my opinion, if it makes your daily living nicer / more fun, fuck buy it.

I drive a VW Jetta and wear jeans and a t-shirt. I could give a shit what anyone thinks. Rather than buy expensive clothes I spend my money on shit that matters. BEER!!

Yah... I'm an Alabama redneck. So what ?

But real talk I think it's better to go for some middle ground. There are certain brands known for higher quality clothing instead of just being douche symbols.

Now what exactly distinguishes higher quality from lower quality? The answer to that is the little shit you would probably say "who the fuck cares" when making the purchasing decision.

Some "little" things you can find in higher end clothing,
- little adjustments in clothes to make it fit better with body. The human upper body isn't a perfect T. There's grooves and bumps in some places, assuming you have SOME muscle tone. Or fat tone lolz.
- tube pockets in shorts so shit doesn't fall out when you sit in a bus
- some elastic material in jeans so they stretch a little instead of being entirely rigid.
- certain brands fit better to certain body types. once you discover which ones match yours, you'll probably never want to wear anything else. Good luck finding this shit at target.
- snowboard gear (pants, undershirt, jacket etc) from a company that does solely that vs. snow gear from some generic company. from actually being water proof instead of water "resistant". the latter still letting water through.
- ZIPPERS - holy fuck this is a huge pet peeve. zippers that get constantly stuck or where one end pulls off midway through the loop. You USUALLY avoid this shit by simply getting shit from brands that address this issue. Those brands more likely also cost a premium.

For some people, myself included, the little shit adds up and makes the brands worthwhile. Also you have to consider the purchase decision being relative to one's income. I'm sure a lot of guys here decide between a $20 vs. $100 comparison to be in the same realm as $0.20 vs. $1.

Fuck I can't believe I just wrote something that supports NOT being cheap.

My 2 rupees.
