Xrproto - of course you agree with me, this is my thread and god damn it I did arbitrage in 1986, I know everything there is to know about everything there is to know. Now that we all know I know all we can stop with the posts saying how much you peons agree with me!

I kidd, I kidd!

I 2nd that! Oh, wait...hmm.

I don't agree with that! :p

I like that one better than the i-geek ones simply for the time it would take for putting up all those stupid pics on the border....

chris I though you advoctated only one ad per page, or was that for a CFA site? I tried doing that w/ my arb sites, and had a much lower click through rate, but the payout was much higher since there was no chance of them clicking on a lower paid ad...

reefer420 - I put 1 ad on alot of my stuff, it is kind of a trade off, you have to see what works best for you, are you getting lower ctr but higher payout overall or are you adding up to 3 ads, getting lower per click payout with significant higher ctr. I get a good ctr with just 1 ad. in the 35% plus range. just cause I do that though does not mean it is the only way to make this biznitch work!

thnx- i'll have to experiment more... my pages have been erratic w/ the CTR and payout, one day 60% CTR, one day 10%....and I haven't changed much in a while.

I think what i'm going to try out is a more 'serious' one ad only theme for more serious topics (health care, etc), which get lower volume, and then use the block ad above the pic or to the right of the pic w/ text for more mainstream things that people are looking for and which get higher volume.

My thoughts are that people who are really looking for information on something serious will click on a one link ad since they will be looking at the page more closely- whereas they might be turned off by a site that is obviously just for ads. A person looking for a plasma TV on the other hand won't stay long on a page and will either close the window if they don't see something that catches their eye- so more ads in their face might be better...

ugh- I need to focus on one thing at a time, I have to many projects on my plate and not enough free time in my day!

Yes another newb question... Would you say a 35% CTR is about avg? I have a couple arbi pages that are have CTR between 45-60% and I was thinking that should be higher, or will higher set of re flags with Google?

One thing I'm noticing is that my CTR seems to have more to do with the niche than the actual template. Anyone else noticed this?

It depends on the demograph you are targeting. I have one where I can get mad traffic for dirt cheap but I'm still trying to figure out what will get them to click...I would have dumped it already but for some reason it's managed to stay out of the red.

so I have been updating my competition info in 7search, I keep track of pages that do arbitrage and I am seeing alot of people using various versions of the template I showed on page 1. You do realize I used a template that has never worked at a better than 3:1 rate? hell it does good to get 2:1, I still test it cause I am a sucker and read the posts about people have luck with 1 thing in 1 niche but not the other. I am pig headed and don't want it to go to waiste lol! if you are using a variation of the template how is it doing for you? what kind of roi etc.

I have been getting 16 and 25% on two different sites. Im impressed although I need to adjust my pricing to make more profit. At this point I'm considering it a personal success. My goal was to just get traffic and people clicking.

so if the decent CTR is 40-65%, its not necessary to find a niche that pays $1-4/click then eh? I mean if you pay .06 per click and even get .25 from adsense that's still a profit. (say .4% CTR that's .25 click profit that costs you .15 cents = .10).

ofcourse you need some volume to make it work hehe.

I'm running a pretty modified version of it, ok basically the only thing that is the same is the layout of the ads and text on a generic coverall domain and I am getting about 8:1 on a good day about 3:1 on a bad day. I need to start working on where my keywords come up in search results as that is what is holding me back now. The .06 rule keeps you sane but doesn't get you allot of clicks.

I tested it once and it blew hard.

I had two competing sites pop up over the weekend in one of my niches and one kind of took on what I did with my site. The other one is using the template you speak of. I'm guessing these two sites were put up by people on here, or at least the later one that used your said template. :p

Yeah, definitely. Once you have a template that gets a consistent CTR of at least 30%, you should refocus your time on finding niches that convert well instead of fiddling around with the template.

Anyone had any success at all with searchfeed? I can't get anything out of it, regardless of the niche or template. Plenty of traffic, terrible CTR, waste of money. But I'll keep experimenting if someone can testify that it is possible.

Bingo. Volume is where it is at, Jon touched on this at his blog http://aojon.com

when searchign for a niche, when you use the google keyword tool, and you select "cost and ad position estimates" what does it matter if you enter $10 or $50, arent you always going to choose the most high paying keyword anyways?

When doing research on arbitrage competion or getting ideas for the kinds of templates out there on 7 search; is there a way to go to a site without costing the advertiser money? I know if you click the cost will be .06 or less, but I'd rather not cost a fellow arbitrager money.
