Innovation

[..] The last several days have been a real eye opener on the lack of innovation that's going on in the industry - "SEO". The really is no innovation.

What I will say is this, There are a lot of bright people doing spamming, SEOing and concentrating their full efforts on one thing "search engines", Google Primarily. If Google disappears tomorrow, a lot of those bright people will be fucked. What if some new technology comes along and bypasses Google? Can't happen? I bet people thought Microsoft would be forever too right? What about Myspace? Remember AOL? Same with IBM way back in the day.

You know how you can tell something will have an end? If it has a beginning, it will have an end. With the fast pace movement of the internet, things are only going to have shorter and shorter lifespans.

Bypassing Google has already started happening, Siri being a prime example (http://www.wickedfire.com/traffic-content/173455-siri-optimization-beyond-traditional-seo.html). Apple is pulling information from all over the internet. Now what if one of these bright people stopped doing spam for SEO and thought about dominating Siri - probably one of the most innovative BSTs to ever be seen could hit the market. Siri marketing, you're clients would be completely tapped into iphone users, which generally have more disposable income. Only way to do that is Innovation.

Another example, Social Media. Friendster then Myspace, now Facebook. Facebook is now a destination as well as search platform. Another Google Bypasser. Now, the general audience on Facebook may be mostly time wasters, from what I originally thought. But my thought process has evolved, as a marketer I have to see how people are using the medium then figure out a way to deliver my message.

The old, "We've got this gadget you need" days of marketing are over. Reputation management is not only on Google now, but a company can get killed on Twitter and Facebook in real time, which is scary for business owners. My own experience with Additional Traffic Sources, has shown me there is a huge market a lot of marketers aren't tapping. I won't go any further and leave that there.

We can't move the internet forward if the brightest people are concentrating on reverse engineering one website, Google. I'm putting an end to this once and for all. I'd rather move on to more forward moving innovations than continue looking down like I don't see the cliff coming. There is a point where Google.com may not be relevant. What's scary is the internet is so fast paced that it can be 3 years from now or 5, or even one month from now.

Several SEO services have successfully defeated Google in all ways. Google has an Achilles heel - trust, authority, and high domain PR. Their cards are laid out everyday in the top 10 results. 3 years ago, I was one of the first to implement microdata into my client's websites. I was one of the first to have a mobile solution that was seemless. I was one of the first in 2000 to have cross browser compatible websites. I was one of the main people focusing on speed 10 years ago.

Some could say I was too early in my endeavors, but they can't say I was wrong. Now it has come to a point where enough is enough. Google's domination is being eroded every day. One day, a new technology, like Siri, will overtake it's place, and being an innovator and forward thinker I don't plan on being around when the eventual implosion happens.

For those of you out there reading this, there is a reason you are still here reading. You feel and know there is something that's coming soon for us SEOers. You're looking for answers, you know I'll probably drop something that might change your thought process. Well, here is what I would recommend, get out. Don't rely 100% on one traffic source as a living and start diversifying.

I challenge you to innovate and take a leap of faith - into the future. That's where I'll be. Together we can dominate. Ironically, we'll get more "SEO"/organic traffic in the process. There is a tide coming, and I'm afraid several will not survive it. Make sure you've changed your thought process, have started to evolve, and innovate when the end comes crashing down.

From the Depth

I usually attack from behind - well, more like from the depth. You see my targets don't even know they've been bitten. They've fallen for some breadcrumbs, saw a video, and convinced themselves they've chosen to buy my product. Like a puppet master, I show my targets a story, tell it to them at their level, then they think, they've discovered something wonderful, something great.

Another one got bitten today… sharks, it's like they are everywhere…

We are :)

We're almost at the end, rounding out to the whole number finally - no more fractions. Time to reveal True Stories... It alway has been about story telling...

One question:

Is the message staring me right in the face or is my confusion the sign that I have been bitten?

(ok technically 2 questions)

Carry on...

My sentiments exactly. Once upon a time I wasted my entire week/month on ranking websites in Google for income - whether it was Adsense, leads, CPA Offers, or a product sale. What a waste. It should be clear to anyone serious in SEO - that SEO/Google/Ranking is not a destination, it's a means to an end = revenue. It's a tool. A traffic source. That's it.

That's my opinion at least.

This past year, I've been focusing all my efforts on real value, real marketing, real market research, real advertising, etc. What's ironic is that by focusing on the latter, my rankings have gone through the roof, as well as ranking stability. By NOT focusing on SEO, my rankings / results have been better than they have ever been. Whodathunk.

I don't hang out on Wf but after this sales thread I will...You should write a book or something :)

The Old Empire is Crumbling

The world around you is crumbling. Most refuse to accept that fact. Everyone always longs for the "old days", when things used to be good and easy. Well they're gone. And until you accept that fact - you'll be swept away like sands on the desert floor. You lost focus, you're not hungry any more. That spark is gone, it's died when you got complacent. You're softer than you were when you were younger.

"A young person sees limitless possibilities, a wise-man sees limitless problems." - CCarter

^^ hang that up on your wall, you're going to need it. Sometimes it's better to be the fool that has no idea what they are getting themselves into, than be the old reluctant man that knows all too well what "might" happen. I've spent the past week contemplating the future for me, my business, my partners, and the internet as a whole. There are a lot of possibilities still left, but we need a new energy infused into our consciousness. Slowly I've been opening your eyes. It had to be slow, opening the curtains too fast would have blinded you.

You see, we either go backwards or forwards. If we stand still, the floor behind is eroding everyday, so that means you'll eventually fall into oblivion. Do you have a brand? Do you have a company? Or are you just digital hustling this SEO thing? Do you honestly think in 5 years, you'll be able to do what you are doing now? Would you want to? What about 5 years ago? When SEO was easy? I bet everyone then thought they were safe. If the past is any indication of the future, the lesson is they future is un-predictable for those that don't plan accordingly.

How do you win in this digital game? What's the final level of this? What's your end goal? When you go head to head with the Final Boss, will you even be able to defeat him? Are you prepared, or are you going to spam your way into big brand status.

What's your reality? Does your marketing actually do marketing - Or will your plans fall apart at the slightest competitor's whim?

Social Proof

Got testimonials? Reviews, Proof that people want the product, whether real or fake? :) How are you showing your customers that they aren't the first ones to buy this product? That they are indeed not the guinea pigs of some new unproven product or service?

"Fake it Till You Make It" - Mary Kay

People need to feel like they aren't the first, they don't like being too early to a party. They'd rather arrive just as everyone else is arriving or a little bit late to the party. If they see something is blowing up, they want to feel like they belong and are part of something special. Just like when creating a new community, you have to get social influencers at the scene and allow them free range to plant their seeds. People will gravitated towards what seems new, hip, cool, and the new In. Are you what's in? We're in outer space man… Where are you?

Stew and rum can get both high and low.

A setback of the heart is nothing at all?

The last sentence you saw comes asking for bread.

Tomorrow likes to have a shower in the morning.

Too long a stick is often pregnant.

It takes more than a stick to get a monkey out of a bears mouth....:hollering:

The Future

How does one change the future? How does one walk away from what is ending? How does one take the road less travelled? How do you do anything in life whether new, different, difficult, or challenging? How do all the greats become great? What do you do in the face of fear and death that'll set your course of life in the right direction?

All of these questions have the exact same answer...

By taking the first step.

"It may seem difficult at first, but all things are difficult at first." - Miyamoto Musashi (The Book of Five Rings)

The Oak Tree

I'll give you the answer to the question "What is most important to the heart of a warrior?" The answer is, "To desire with one's very soul every second of every day to accomplish one's aim."

"A warrior is worthless unless he rises above others and stands strong in the midst of a storm." - Hagakure

Many have heard the story about the oak tree and blade of grass, but how many have wondered about the alternative perspective - that it was better to be the giant oak than the grass. That it was better to leave this world as a mighty tree; the source of pride and glory of the land, than to live on as some pathetic nameless blade of grass. Why not go out with style and dignity rather than be forgotten and unremarkable?

Here is a helpful tip for you CCarter...if you really wanna have success in the BST section, instead of posting interesting and informative information twice a day, just post "bump 1/2" and "bump 2/2"...works 50% of the time..all the time!
