Top 10 Best Web Hosting Companies?

A different thought is maybe getting a cheaper dedicated server, and do your own reselling of the resources on the server. You have more control over the resources, and more control over who is using how much of the resources.

The 2 that ive liked the most and ive used MANY are liquidweb (dedicated) & hostgator (shared)

Those get my vote. I've been in hosting since 97 and those have floated to the top.

The bottom... Media Temple. The worst fucking company and hosting experience ever. Launched a site for a client on their Grid Server and the resulting lawsuit due to their shitty hosting and down time left a horrible taste in my mouth.

I have a few sites with 1&1 and a few with APlus.net until recently. Never really had any issue with either. But going to start selling my own hosting and consolidate my sites. I do web design and there's no point in referring my clients to other hosting companies. I'd rather be making the money myself.

hostmonster is CHEAP and a lot of people hate on them but i've never had any problems and always had great support when i have any questions

I've had bad experiences with Site5 and MediaTemple (MediaTemple isn't too bad, just a bit on the slow side). I was with LiquidWeb and I was happy, but I switched to Zensix VPS for the good price. Loving it.

Hostgator shared business hosting is good, and cheap. Just don't have extremely high traffic websites like one I had going (was getting about 1000+ requests a second), and you're good.

HostGator! Great support. Used 1&1, Dreamhost and Lunarpages in the past. I like where I am at and wont move until they give me a REALLY good reason to move.

Best I've had:
SoftLayer (Dedicated)
KnownHost (VPS)
Hostway (shared reseller, windows based, had em back in 2002)

Middle of the Road that might go downhill:
ServerPronto (Very Cheap Dedicated) [ they stopped taking payments online, now its CC over the phone only ].

Worst I had:
Dreamhost (shared)

HostICan is the worst website hosting service I have ever used, and I have tested out well over 20+ hosting companies in the past; they are rude, and take forever to refund your payment UNTIL you threaten legal action will they respond back and take another 3-6 months to make a payment. As well, on the live chat they block IPs, they know are having problems, so if you site is down they will block your IP connected to using the site service for your website and ignore your help until they deem nessicarry! Watch out for them, they make look decent, but in reality they are a really horrible company to deal with; I've never had an expirence so bad. I have never hosted anything illegal, high-bandwidth, etc. that would cross lines simply a blog, and they allowed themselves to be corrupt, money hungry, uncaring providers that don't give a second to assist a paying customer.

Hostgator is great, haven't had any issues with them, previously I was with WebhostingPad, not a good experience..

Now there is GVO which is expensive as hell and I didn't try it, $45 p/m.
