In terms of bulk adding, I wasn't after anything more than the daily limits - I just find it much easier to add 50 kws/urls in one hit and have them all added to the one category rather than going one by one. It's not really that much of an issue when I think about it though

Good to hear you'll consider the sorting stuff, that'll be killer for my uses.

I use UBot for that. Very simple.

Does this thing even work right now? I did a trial, when i do a search nothing happens.

working fine as far as I can tell.

Two things:

1) if you're in firefox, ajax acts wonky from time to time. Try refreshing your page.

2) make sure you selected "add keyword" and not "search"...search looks through your pre-existing keywords, add keyword starts a new processing job

This tool looks great. I have a couple of suggestions:

1.
I am a market samurai user. There are a lot of things I don't like about their SEO Competition module but I really like the tabular presentation. Do you think you could add this in the future?

2.
Could you add an Expand All button at the top of the Detailed Competition Breakdown screen?

Thanks

Wez.

Hey, thanks for signing up and shooting over feedback.

1) It's possible in the future. I really like the design I ended up with more than Market Samurai's. It's the layout I've always wanted when doing keyword research, I didn't particularly set out to clone Market Samurai to the web, I just wanted to build out my own dream tool. But I will explore the idea in the future

2) Expand All button is on my list, just need to whip out the javascript for it. Should be simple

Dchuk my broskizzle, any thoughts on an .text export for the keyword discovery results? Or csv , no matter. Trying not to sound lazy but I hate having to type them all out to put them in webceo or use as anchors lol.

It's possible, though the reason I built the keyword discovery tool the way it is is because it makes it easy to quickly add keywords to the competition analyzer. serpIQ is not a tool meant for people looking for bulk data crunching, it's meant to be used actively. At Wickedfire, most of us are used to bulk data mining, but in the overall SEO world, it's a minority position.

To get all the data that serpIQ grabs on a standard competition analysis run manually would take well over an hour per keyword.

I'll mull it over this weekend and decide what I want to do then. Thanks for the feedback.

This is an absolutely fantastic tool - just signed up for the free account to take it for a spin and I'm loving it.

You'll have to forgive my programming / database / api ignorance here but ...

Someone mentioned having the average competition level value available for the additional keywords when running the keyword discovery tool.

Is it possible when someone completes a competition search for a particular keyword that the average competition score is also stored in a separate database which could then populate the keyword discovery window?

In the example screenshots you have "sunflower seeds" with a score of 44. This value could be written to another table for populating the keyword discovery window, eg when 'Bill' types in "sunflower" into the keyword discovery section "sunflower seeds" would probably be one of the related words and this keyword already has a competition level previously researched (albeit the data may be slightly out due to age) which could populate that screen.

Over time a lot of the related keywords could have values assigned that would give a quick initial indicator to its competition level - and this database has the potential to grow over time. I know some people may point out that a keywords competition level may be skewed because it hasn't been 'deep analysed' for some time but if someone sees a keyword with decent traffic potential and weak competition level they are quite likely to perform a deep analysis which would then update the database to give a more recent view.

Again, if this is an arse idea my apologies!! :eatmousepointer:

Honestly, I think it's a great idea. I have thought about doing it a lot in the past. I still might do it in the near future.

However, each keyword discovery run returns around 75 keywords, so the potential for overlap with the competition analyzer is actually dramatically smaller than you might initially think. I've done internal tests with it and we'd be lucky to have a 1-3% overlap on any given discovery run.

I do plan on extending discoveries a bit to include SOME competition data (stuff like allintitle:, keyword in quotes, etc). I will work on fleshing that out in a future feature release and of course will keep this thread and the blog updated.

Thanks for the feedback and giving serpIQ a trial!

OFFICIAL CALL-OUT POST

Yo Dchuk I need SerpIQ to be able to allow dashes in keywords. Sometimes Google treats dashes and spaces differently and when I use a space, the CI scores are not good because I really want to know what the competition is doing dash-wise.

Since I have completely forgotten how to do keyword research without the use of SerpIQ, I cannot move forth on this project until you fix this issue

PS - Millennia - GREAT idea and thanks for joining and posting. +rep!

Any chance of getting a simple table format in the Keyword Discovery module?

I'm not a big fan of the current format. I'd much rather have some sort of table that allows me to sort by clicking on a column header.

Just something like:

Keyword|Search Volume|.com|.net|.org

lol, it's been made official. Had some personal shit spring up this weekend that has set me back, but I'm gonna be tweaking out coding today to catch up so I'll make that modification. If you have any others, let me know and I'll get on it.

I'll try and plan for that, might be able to add that in this week. Thanks for the feedback

Alright, have had this in the works for a long time now, and am stoked to announce it:

NEW serpIQ FEATURE: COMPETITION INSIGHT SYSTEM

I'll let the screenshot do most of the talking here:

94t~byrlldbh.png

This system automatically parses all the data for the top competition metrics and explains them in plain english. I have a ton of experience in the agency and consultancy world, and I built this specifically because I know there's a need for it. Literally no other software has this in the world.

New to SEO? Read through each description and it will be like talking to an expert SEO. Grindstone and myself worked through many iterations of this feature to get it where it is, and we're very proud of it.

Work at an agency or as a consultant? We designed this so you could straight up read it directly to your client and they'll think you're a master of SEO.

This feature is retroactively applied to all keywords and should work well on everything. I can't test it on all of the tens of thousands of keywords in the system however, so please, if something breaks or looks word, please message me and I'll take care of it immediately.

I am pushing a variety of smaller updates tonight as well, and this week we'll be launching a lower priced version of serpIQ for those hesitant to take the plunge.

No one is going to match us in terms of speed, ease of us, and data compiled. Get on board, we're ready for ya :)

Very nice update dchuk, with the keyword search volume panel any chance of getting a little [+] at the bottom, when clicked it'll give you the # of estimated visitors for all of the top 10 spots.

E.g

Position one is estimated to get XXX visits
Position two is estimated to get XX visits

etc etc

yeah, totally, I can make it a popup and it will look slick. That way it won't mess with the layout at all either. Good suggestion, thanks man.

Just tried analyzing a new keyword. This is what I get.

appreciate it, will check out now...when it comes to reporting actual error messages, if you guys could PM them instead of posting publicly, it's probably the best.

EDIT: it's fixed now, I see where there was a mistake in the code...shouldn't run into that problem again. Thanks for the heads up.
