Tested international keyword discovery for a French keyword and it worked great. No complain.

But, as of late, competition analyzer isn't returning any search volume for foreign keywords :(

Could you add google.co.jp for competition analyzer ?

Hey Chuck, when you sort out everything you have in a queue now, can you add more conditional filters to the seed query?

Some results are full of trademarks. This is ok if we want to find related kw's in a certain niche, but if simply looking for a domain, it just pollutes the output. If we could block certain terms optionally, it would bring many more potential keywords.

I think it's a simple solution, but then I've got no idea how many hoops do you need to jump to make it happen. If we could simply enter words that we don't want in keywords when adding a new seed as in:

New seed: hair conditioner
*Do not bring results with (optional): Pureology, Biosilk, Pantene

SEMrush no likey .ca traffic :( Search volume is pulling US traffic.

I'll add that today. I add countries when people as me to, so feel free to reach out whenever.

Some Good Stuff

1) I've made logo management its own page now for all you Agency account holders. I did that because there was a random error with the previous setup because of password autocomplete in some browsers and also because it's a lot more intuitive now. In your profile, there's now a giant button for managing your logo:

2) International Keyword Discovery So while we know that SEMRush can sometimes not be as authoritative of a data source as the Adwords API, they are easy to use, won't ban us for stupid shit, and allow for a good amount of international keyword research. I've enabled all of their databases now, which you can select when putting in a new discovery:

Give it a go and let me know your thoughts and feedback. With these kinds of updates, especially regarding international research, I can only do/understand so much of the foreign language before I get stuck, so any feedback from you guys regarding foreign targets would be very helpful for us.

Thanks!

dchuk can you make it so Serpiq treats a period '.' as a space?

lets say my keyword is "aol 9.0 review". As of right now serpiq won't let me run it because of the period so I put it in as "aol 9 0 review" since google treats it the same.

but when I run it like that all of the on page data returned is wrong because on page it is "aol 9.0 review"

hope that makes sense.

Yo Dchuk -

I'm wondering if you've given any thought to bulk SerpIQ Analysis that can be done at a lowest priority or scheduled overnight.

Basically, I'm thinking of making some sort of matrix on how much I want to spend on linkbuilding for all of my terms. I'll have a formula that calculates ROI, but if the CI is super high, I will drop it in priority (or attack it harder if the money makes sense).

I can easily get by without this, just wondering if you've considered this type of service or an API.

I know all of my keywords, and already have the local exact matches. I just want a dump of CI's or whatever you're willing to give.

Eh?

the filtering would only be able to happen on our end, not SEMRush, as their API doesn't support negative keywords. I can look into it though as far as implementing it locally.

yeah, I can clean that up. It's tricky to use whitelist/blacklist stuff with characters as often times you can get too (or too little) all encompassing.

The tough part with bulk processing isn't the crunch on the queue (each successive keyword you add puts you lower on the priority list, so if another user came in and put in their first keyword of the day, they would get a higher priority), but rather the cost of processing.

Every keyword costs us X amount, no matter what time a day it is run. We pay for access to quite a few different APIs that allow us to provide the rich (and in some instances, exclusive data set). So bulk processing outside of the current keyword limits imposed by our current plans could hurt our bottom line too much to make it worthwhile.

We are thinking about doing some sort of private API setup (not for reselling or public tools, but for agencies with internal tools for instance) but honestly, a single serpIQ competition analysis has hundreds of data points, so it would be a tricky thing to query into. I see the need for it though, so we do plan on it.

I guess the other potential I see with the API for usage as you described is it puts WAY too much focus on just the CI. While we like to think our CI is a great metric to follow, the underlying data is arguably more important to dig into to see all the little nuances and vulnerabilities of each keyword. An API that lets you dump in hundreds of keywords and just pull out the CI for each one really cripples the beauty of the data that is in a serpIQ report and I think would shift focus away from what I feel is more important to be spending your time looking at.

That's my mini mind-dump on it all, I do plan on adding private API usage soon, I just wanted to publicly disclose what I just wrote so you guys can all be on the same page as me with it.

Would be super cool if you made keyword groups linked to one specific URL. Then from the keyword group dashboard with all the analyzed keywords, it displays the current rank of the website but also mentioned within each individual detailed report.

Just a thought but I know you're not in the rank tracking business.

Ahh yes, thanks. Unless the API calls are dirt cheap, I guess this isn't something I'm currently interested in, so don't consider me a +1 on doing this over other plans that firms want.

I'm just going to multiply the exact matches * CPS * CR and go after the most powerful accordingly. If it's a touch CI, then screw me I'll just figure that out the hard way.
