Steve Jobs - Now counting his days [News]

Well, I said not all non MSM companies were created equal. But whatever.

XMCP's Lovely "Quality News" Tiers

Top Tier: BBC, CBC, Al-Jazeera English(AJ Arabic doesn't qualify), Foreign Policy
Upper Mid: Financial Times, Guardian, NYTimes, Reuters, Christian Science Monitor
Mid Tier: Washington Post, Time, Newsweek
Lower-Mid: CBS, ABC, CNN, LA Times, JPost
Low Tier: MSNBC, Sun
Newsertainment: Fox, Enquirer, Daily Mail, wherever the fuck this came from

Thats a great breakdown. I would also throw in PBS for stuff like Newshour, it is quite simply excellent.

i'm long silver, when gold:silver ratio goes back to something respectable like 15:1 then i'll convert it to gold

that's been my philosophy since silver was at 14, and ive more than doubled my money now.

Oh yeah and switch Fox and MSNBC because they both suck but half the time MSNBC just runs prison shows rather than news related shit.

Fox and MSNBC are both terrible but Fox is worse by a long shot, even if you agree with the crap they report. The are past biased and right into deceptive.

It appears that many of you posters have never had any experience with someone who has cancer. My 84 year old father has been battling his 8th bout with cancer for almost 5 years now. With many cancer patients it's not the cancer that kills them but a secondary disease.

Cancer treatments kill what little immune system the patient has left. This opens them to all kinds of infections. In my father's case he is dieing from heart problems that manifested due to the kinds of chemotheraphy that he was on. Yes NSCLC is often fatal, however the side effects of the treatments are also.

Because not giving a fuck = wishing him death amarite ?

dude just shut up and save yourself the trouble.

Funny thing that everybody is giving this guy shit for what he said but nobody is saying anything about amanda11 which was 10x worse than what this guy said. lol...

Life is way too short, no matter what your view point is of the man he hasn't done anything seriously wrong to wish bad upon him. Prayers with him and his family!

Apple-Steve Jobs= Microsoft

I'm not an apple fan boy, and use pc. But a TON of respect for the cult he has built and the technology he has brought to the masses.

Awesome breakdown. I'd probably put BBC in the upper mid tier though, they spew a lot of shit disguised as truth. I'd trust the Guardian over them. With Egypt recently, they were constantly in support of Mubarak until the final moments, with most of the video footage being pro-government.
I don't know what the fuck is the matter with you guys wishing death and suffering on Jobs. Yea, he's a douche and many, including me, hate his company. But happy about his cancer? The fuck is the matter with you all?
Qft. No matter what he's done, it's not cool to be happy about someone getting cancer.

Trouble from what ?

The wf apple fanboy mob ?

The only thing Apple did was stealing other ideas, compile them and made them easy to use to brain impaired ppl.

They are like Blizzard.

I won't deny they did it well, but they are not innovative in any way.

And a big lol to all you Steve jobs fanboy crying for his death.

Do you realise you are mourning a guy who is:

pro christian,
pro copyright protection beyond evil (sony-disney copyright act),
was a SOB boss implementing big brother era policy on his employee, shitting on your precious constitution (he orchestrated the raid on gizmodo violating many basic laws, even if they deserved it)
WAS A VEGAN LOL (btw, eating meat is a big nono, taking a kidney from someone is ok, LOLIRONY)

But to make things clear, I don't think he deserved it, I'm not laughing at peoples with cancer, its a fucking and one of the worst maladie ever, but to be sad for this guy ?

Get real, almost all ppl in the world have it wayyyyyyyyyy harder than this guy, even if you are healthy.

He did nothing to help the world.

If you want to praise someone from Apple, praise Tim cook, the guy who actually MADE thing.

Waiting for shitstorm.

IIT we see wfers claiming RON PAUL IS THE MAN and crying for SJobs, only on wf.

The BBC has 23,000 staff. There isn't a bigger broadcaster. I think they have an annual budget of £4 billion a year. Do you really trust someone who's job it is to sell newspapers (Guardian)? The BBC don't need too, they collect licence fees, government grants and what not.

Agreed.

All you guys saying its good hes dying is a prick. I hate the guy, but would not wish anyone to go through something like this. It's such a shitty situation. My neighbor had pancreatic cancer. It wasn't a good last few months.

seriously, i had no idea wickedfire was apple fan boy central.

i personally think steve jobs and bill gates both suck. may linus torvalds live a long and healthy life.

Not bad but I would throw some PBS shows like Frontline in the Top Tier along with The Economist which is probably the best thing in print. However, the Enquirer has broken some legit stories before, I think they were the ones that broke the Bill Clinton Sperm dress story.

That was the Drudge Report actually, which used to be a report newsletter and not just links. I believe the Enquirer broke the John Edwards and Tiger Woods scandals. It's still gossip, but they have tightened up their standards over the years after getting sued so much.

The 20 minutes of PBS Newshour's coverage of Egypt that I saw was probably more informative than 24 hours of the news channels.

Democracy Now and Freedom Watch - FoxBusiness.com can be good for stuff that doesn't normally get covered on tv.

Lets not go on money/staff, because if we did, Fox would win, and they're hardly reliable. I think in the case of the guardian, sure, it's their job to sell newspapers, but their sales method isn't lies and shocking headlines. The people who want that read the Sun. They base their marketing strategy on truthfulness - shocking headlines filled with lies could easily decrease their readership, not increase it, so all newspapers can't be grouped together.

The BBC on the other hand, who are they working for, directly? Not the taxpayer. The government. Sure, they have to remain sounding fairly unbiased, but slipping out the occasional lie among a load of truth is much more effective at working on the more intelligent segment of the population. The BBC could just totally ignore the government, and be totally unbiased, but, while the government couldn't directly punish them for it, there are always ways for them to be punished - spending cuts aimed towards them, not giving them coverage to certain events...

The BBC have a monopoly on the broadcasting in this country, and it seems to go largely unnoticed.
