So I started ANOTHER hosting company. IonVZ.com - Softlayer Datacenter

Do you have plans to sell off many accounts like you did with zensix? The company you moved many accounts to, vpsoutlet, is a piece of shit. VPSOUTLET - Portal Home most of the links are now # and they don't answer support tickets and I haven't been able to login to cpanel for weeks. Thanks for that.

CAN I GET AN AMEN?

That was almost a year ago. When vpsoutlet stopped responding to me back in December I posted about it here and told people to either signup for a DirectAdmin plan with zensix again (I gave a discount) or move their data somewhere else.

I'm not sure what you expect me to do about something that happened a year ago. I gave everyone the chance to stay with zensix by switching to DirectAdmin... if you didn't want to stay, sorry, but my business plan changed and cPanel was not an option. From what I understand, vpsoutlet hasn't only ignored me since December, they've ignored everyone since December. If that's the truth, I have no idea why you stuck around this long, only to complain in here about it.

Bump for IonVZ!!!

I was going to PM one of you guys, but saw nobody has posted for awhile. How much longer are you offering your $10 coupons? Are they going to be a regular thing?

I'll be signing up next Monday after I get PP'd some $$. Just wondering if they're is a rush on your current deals.

I'd love to see what happens if 60-70% of the people on an oversold server try to use most of their assigned RAM e.g. by running a database with a LOT of data in it. The kernel/system errors on a Linux VPS container/server are sooo nice when they complain on lack of RAM :D (typically those messages are very cryptic and really meaningless, so the only way you know that you're out of RAM is by running "top" or something).

I've done server admin work for hosting companies with 40+ containers on a server that only had 8GB of RAM (and each container was assigned at least 512MB). Typically the cpu load goes crazy and containers start to freeze. If you ever have a vps and the load for it is always high, even though you aren't running anything, you're probably on an oversold node.

Here's a shot of my busiest vps node (which happens to be on zensix).

How much RAM? :P

EDIT: And BTW 40+ containers on a machine with 8 gigs of RAM?! Holy shit! It's a shame such things aren't illegal. Basically anything above 16 at that config is doomed to failure after a while. Fortunately I haven't been part of such setup. Though I'd be sure to give such company a VERY bad reputation indeed should such thing happen to me.

yea wait til they all hit the swap.... screeching halt.

We can't afford to oversell, the worst case scenario almost always happen when you do that. we don't need that kind of volshness added to our reputation. (besides I host my personal vps there and some of my long term clients)

Makes sense. After all, people seeking VPS containers/dedis are renting them to host sites generating a profit. They aren't like the average Joe internet user: yeah, I need internet for surfing the net (where the hell does the water go in? :P) and to read my e-mails in a while (most ISPs wish that all of their customers be such). And when the site traffic increases.........well, tough luck. And if such company stays afloat after such event, that's an outright miracle.

It's good to see that there are people who actually trust in their products to such extent that they're using them as well. This brings Micro$oft to my mind, which used a Linux-based cluster when (I think) the Doom worm has launched a DDoS attack against its site (and SCO's) using the botnet it created. It was kinda sad and hilarious at the same time.:D

windows VN's are not heavily offered for 2 reasons... A if done with WMware or alike the overheads are 2 high with cpu and other key resources... and with vz it has troubles releasing windows swap files and virtual memory. I know this to be the case with VZ4 by parallels... Have an association with a company that offers windows VN's and to say the least while they work well they are admin resource hungry... often too hungry for smaller hosts...
