That is an awesome page on so many levels....
Do you know which tool/plugin he uses for the ebay listings?

Thanks. I can't take credit for the design. Now if it'd just make a friggin dime. Yep, phpBay.

I know I"m digging up an old topic here. But I started doing some research on a celebrity name. It seems there is very little adwords competition for it. Is there any problem using adwords using this persons name?

Question1: When you do your adwords/msnadcenter, how do you decide what position is good enough? Do you have to be #1 or is #5 good enough?

Second Question, how do I generate a long keyword list for this?

I did this with the Hulk Hogan Divorce. Twas the first one out there for a few hours, then got slapped later that night. Cell phone number submit for $2 lead. Made $10 profit - WooHoo!

I think ultimately the idea works, it just depends how you bring in the traffic. Maybe through social marketing would be cheaper instead of PPC?

Not sure I understand why you guys are getting slapped. I have dozens of little "mini sites" that are nothing more than a landing page, 1 article page, and the obligatory privacy, about us and contact pages. 98% of my keywords are great, and have been for months or years. Why are you guys getting slapped so much? Are you guys not at least putting some content with the right keywords on your landing pages?? Are your ads not using the keywords you're bidding on? I don't get it. It's so easy to NOT get slapped...

Oh, same here. I do have .03 min bid ads that have been running for many months. But in light of the theme of the strategy in this thread the deal is to use as many keywords as possible to get as much traffic to your CPA ad during the outbreak of "Big News" before the hype dies down. Consequently, many of those keywords are on the fringe of relevancy and the slapping begins - albeit, in a mild sense. After all, for a $1-$2 CPA, if the min bid imposed reaches .20 or more, the margin makes it nonetheless futile.

For news based campaigns it seems like 98% of your traffic would inherently come from pretty relevant terms, and there wouldn't be much point in bidding on 100s of "fringe" terms. I mean, take the Vick story. If your ad was showing for the 10-20 main relevant search phrases I can think of off the top of my head, you're not going to get much more coverage at all by bidding on "fringe" terms.

I couldn't find the damn "$500 Visa Gift Card" offer so I had to try the one for win a corvette (need to enter cellphone) which gave me no converts at all.. or does COPEAC take a little longer to show converts ? Shows "impressions" though :-/

Well, like the hulk Hogan thing I did: keywords with Linda (who initiated the divorce) in them were fine, but most of the traffic came from searches without the word linda in them. So, one of the most searched terms "hulk hogan divorce" got semi-slapped.

Did you have "hulk hogan divorce" in your ad and on your landing page?

Landing page had all words, the ad contained "hulk" and then other enticing text to warm up the voters. I know.......if the ad (and the page) had all the keywords in it it probably would've been fine, but I wasn't going to make 20 ads & landing pages to avoid an impending slap for a hype that would die off in a few days anyhow. In addition, only within hours did the adwords column become saturated with other ads about the divorce.

OK. I didn't know whether to start a new thread or not. I figured to just add to this awesome post to bump it since I basically used all the ideas from it.

Anyways I did it! This was the thread I needed to get me to take my first steps as an IM! My ads are being reviewed by Yahoo right now.
It will be really interesting to see how this all turns outm i'm a little iffy on the picking the keywords, I only got about 40 long tails for this one subject, but its pretty hot right now so we'll see how it goes.
I started with Yahoo since there was that $100 voucher for $30 deal they had. They havent credited me the $100 bones yet but oh well. $30 should be good for a couple days considering I am brand new at this.

I will update as this progresses, I will post my progress so you all can pick it apart and tell me how much I suck!
