Right On! You won't have to worry so much about the quality score slap with Y as you would with G. Also, if you didn't know it, Y bills in advance according to what you set your monthly budget at while the others wait until after. If they don't honor the full $100, give them a call, they're very phone responsive.

I did see while signing up that it can take 72hrs to credit the $100 to the account, so they've got another 48hrs before I call them again. :ticking:

Also, I started a new thread on this but, my ads are still pending.. would increasing the bids help with this?

Will make no difference. Being a new customer or slippery content tends to be the snag. After a bit your ads will approve right away.

Thanks for making this post man. I'm brand new to affiliate marketing, and I've been toying around with email submits for a week or so now with only marginal success. I tried your method and got around 300% ROI on one page overnight.

Thanks again.

Hmm, Yahoo definately did NOT like my ads. Is there any trick to getting them on? I stuck to the Mike Vic example pattern (not my actual topic of course)

Is Mike Vic guilty?
You Decide. Vote now
for a free $500 Visa gift card

I had a couple variations on this and they were all declined for editorial content. So.... I am trying them again, except taking out the mention of the $500 visa.

Any tips anyone?

Edit: I think this is the clause that Yahoo decided to decline my ads..
Paid to Read/Click Sites Sites that offer to compensate users for clicking on ads or offers, performing Web searches, viewing Web sites or reading e-mails, etc.

Looks like Yahoo got a little more pretentious than G this time. I've only run this type of action on Google with ads very similar to the one you did in the Vick example. Didn't have any approval trouble, just got hit with poor quality score & higher bid minimums in a rather short time. The QS won't be such a big issue with Y, but that makes no never mind if the ad won't kick off first. You'll have to try some other enticing & non-customer-commital copy to get them to your page and then explain the whole deal there.

What zip or email submits actually register and pay properly? I have been able to get many clicks but my CJ and Neverblueads affiliations don't register any revenue hits. Any suggestions on finding a good network for these types of offers?

Are you using adwords to drive traffic?

Their latest update is slapping lead collection sites.

In any case if you're sending traffic to a landing page, you might want to split test offers.

In an earlier thread, mkrongel mentioned that even if you have 2 offers with different payouts, the lower payout might still give you more return in the long term if the lower paying offer converts at a higher %, or at least registers more sales (could be a tracking issue )

you might like to look at copeac, azoogle, maxbounty, xy7, basically any of the CPA networks should have them...

Well, other than my first commission, there havent been anymore. I switched the offer, then added a banner for a different offer to the landing page. The banner counted the impressions. That was nice as I saw I was getting about twice as many impressions as clicks through the ads, which leads me to believe that people still like to type the url in instead of clicking the ad. They must think they're being smart about being 'safe on the net' by not clicking the ads but are actually saving me $$ so thats nice to know.

But alas, not many people voted, and of those, only 1 person completed the offer.

What is the average, 10 failures before a success?

How soon before the BIG NEWS you based your vote on was out before your campaign went live? You mentioned delays with Yahoo. You may have just caught the tail end of the hype.

Thanks to all the information here I set this up on the 31st targeting Canadian traffic and a Canadian news story. While I've only got around half a dozen clicks, no one has voted!

Should Calgary ban trans fats?

Any landing page suggestions? My guess is that either it looks too spammy or it's not obvious what the user is supposed to do. In either case I'm not sure which elements I should change.

(BTW, I split test the $500 gift card offer against a 42" TV offer, no one chose the TV)

Thanks,

Sean

Great post. This is exactly the kind of stuff I was missing out over at DP. Thanks for making my first read at Wicked Fire enlightening

Turn it off man!!!! Quickly!!!

6 whole clicks and not a single conversion!?!?

Wow, that's fucked.

I knew this affiliate marketing thing was a scam.

No, 6 clicks and no one took the first step in the funnel (ie clicked on "yes" or "no"), which costs nothing. I know that's not enough data to base anything on, but it's enough for me to wonder if I'm doing something stupid. The campaign didn't generate enough clicks to be statistically significant so I thought I would ask the members here for some advice while I work on my next one.

I just tried this yesterday. It was my first bit of affiliate marketing and driving traffic to my landing page through Adwords.

Worked great for the first few hours. Since I'm new, I set a daily budget of $10. That $10 converted to $18 in leads, so a profit of $8. I was very happy and today was going to increase my daily budget to $30, however noticed when I woke up I was slapped big time with a POOR Quality Score.

My 10 cent bids, were jacked up to $1-$5 minimum bids. What sucks is I had a topic with 0 competition. There are no other other ads displaying for any of my keywords.

It's very discouraging, but back to the drawing board i guess.

Look at your ad, keywords, and landing page.
1) Is your keyword in your ad?
2) Is the keyword on your landing page?
3) Do you have 'enough' text on your landing page ABOUT your keyword? (say 150+ words)
4) Do you have more than one page? 3-5 min probably would be good. All linked with keywords.
5) Do you have the infamous 'extra pages' that Google likes to see? Stuff like terms & conditions, about, disclaimer, contact form, sitemap, etc?
6) Some say that linking to a bigger name site that is about your keyword would can help. Like link to GoDaddy(brrr!) if you are talking about hosting or domains. And link with your keyword.

Try that with your drawing board work and see if it helps. Just ideas, but if you can own the niche, do the best before others find it.
