Ringtones VS. Crush offers

1. Last week google had a "policy change" for the content network.
2. What google are doing is limiting 90% of the traffic to certain affiliates due to QS issues.
3. She cannot or will not tell me what I can do to fix it.

That makes it sound like its the affiliate, not the campaign, that they make their decision about. If that's true, that's fucked up. Royally, fucked up.

Oh, nice to get clarification on the content network issue. So if they are only allowing a limited number of diet AD's appearing on the content network, that means they are placing campaigns with a :
a) Higher QS
b) Higher CPC

Onto the publisher's pages.

Maybe. Or they are putting through 90% of affiliates that they like and 10% of affiliates they dont like. From what I can tell, the "new content QS" is mostly about their manual review of your site.

For instance, even in campaigns that I have that arent WL related, my content runs 10% of capacity if there has been a manual review. On accounts they seem to like, my campaigns havent had a manual review and get 100% capacity of traffic.

I know some competition in campaigns where I have been reviewed are NOT getting a higher CTR than I am on my ads and do NOT have a higher CPC. But my traffic is still down 90-95%.

In speaking with google they are limiting the number of impressions they will allow in certain niches. It has nothing to do with QS issues (she backfliped here a few times), but more to do with the "customer experience".

Anyway, after speaking to my rep at length and asking her why my campaigns were hit she quite plainly stated that " we haven't stopped every affiliates traffic running certain offers but we will. Its just a matter of time."

Oh well, its googles playground and we have to play by their rules.

Yep, I would think that this will continue to happen on any saturated niche because too many people are copying ads/lps and having 7 of the same ads on a page is a bad user experience. So pretty much the people that are copying campaigns word for word are ruining the playground. Unfortunately, I doubt it will stop, so get in early and bank on new niches or find a work around.

This may be true but I have my doubts. Here's why...

What I am seeing in my specific niche in question is that there are 3 or 4 competitors that have their own products, with their own long term branding. There rebilling is not as obvious and they are not affiliates of anyone else. These companies market online and offline.

All of these companies are running on content continously.

Every affiliate, including myself, that is marketing rebills with common blog/review/and even less obvious landing pages are being capped at about 5% volume.

I don't think this is a coincidence.

I would not be surprised if your rep isn't being given all the correct information.

I mean, how can we trust what google says, when they've proven to lie and misinform over and over again. Boy crying wolf, imo.

What Google is saying, and what I am seeing isn't adding up. It amazes me that google makes these changes AND THEY DONT EVEN INFORM THEIR OWN CS REPS!

Only company in the world who can get away with this...

Hey guys,

A good friend of mine, Darren Harris aka harry1970, moderator at ppc-coach sent me some pretty interesting info.

Here is the email he has received from Google:

Hello Darren,
Thank you for your patience with regard to this matter and apologies for
the delay.
I have heard back from our specialists this morning. They informed me,
that due to multiple complaints from our users and publishers, we've
limited the appearance of certain categories of ads on our content
network, which may have affected your number of impressions. The
categories include, but are not limited to, certain IQ tests, dieting and
weight loss-related advertisements.
I understand that you're concerned about the drop in impressions on the
content network and we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused
you. However, Google strongly believes in providing a positive and useful
experience for both users and advertisers. As a business, we must make
decisions regarding the advertising and business practices that may affect
this experience.
Our specialists have given much consideration to our current restriction
of ads on our content network, as well as its ramifications. They
understand that many of our clients are affected. However, providing our
users with the highest quality ads is integral to the long-term success of
our program.
I will let you know, should I hear back from our specialists with further
details. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact us if you have
any further questions.

Sincerely,
Helen
The Google Australia & NZ AdWords Team

Darren also tells me:

Feel free to share this with your other bigger guys, I spent a few hours on the phone with my google rep and this is from her mouth.

1. Last week google had a "policy change" for the content network.
2. What google are doing is limiting 90% of the traffic to certain affiliates due to QS issues.
3. She cannot or will not tell me what I can do to fix it.

And my favorite quote from Darren: Once again, google have shown their amazing ability to fuck anyone who wants to spend money with them.

Darren thanks for letting me share all the above, thanks buddy.

OK guys, many of you have been making good good money with the IQ wave and I know many of you were hit last week because of Google. Listen, good friends of mine (they are very fucking good at what they do) are working on a way around this Google mess. I am promising you that it will work ? Nope ... but I am confident they are the best team out there for the job.

I will keep the family here posted.

Talk to you soon

Good info, Harry and BigL. Nice how they don't tell you that your account is being fucked over.

Its fucking amazing what google can do. Can you name any other business in the world where a customer who wants spend $2 million plus per year is told to fuck off.

Amazing. Luckily I am diversified, but the sheer volumes of googles traffic hurt when its turned off.

its not a drop in EPC, its a drop in impressions...

EPC is as good as ever with the clicks they do allow.

My IQ offer stole your impressions.
LOL!

I haven't looked at refferals that closely but it seems to be specific sites on the content network that are flagging these ads. I can accept that.

What would be nice is for google to allow the ads on all other sites. Instead they just slap, slap, slap and fuck our accounts.

EXACTLY!!! That's proper business. That would be common sense with any other business model in the world. If your content partner doesnt want a particular type of ad, let them have the ability to EXCLUDE it. Just like the google exclusion tool does. Pretty simply. Pretty basic.

But instead, Google sacrifices millions in monthly revenue fucking over peoples livelyhoods during a recession.

Ah! But there is one fatal flaw in your reasoning - you are assuming that they are reasonable people!

The Big L, I just applied to your network. I added you and Jamie on AIM, hoping to hear from you soon.

I've been effected by this too. I was wondering what in the world was happening with my campaigns, but now I know.

It really is UNREAL how a company wants to turn down MILLIONS of dollars each year. It's not like we're promoting crack... :angryfire:
