Prices double For New Thread. 77$ Matters :(

A forum in this industry has 2 choices: Be full of idiots or assholes. If you don't have the assholes to chase away the idiots, the forum fills with idiots.
The balance is certainly a bit worse than it has been in recent years, but I maintain a certain asshole population is every bit as necessary as an immune system.
This couldn't be more true.

Although that isn't just true of this industry, it's true of all online forums. I assume it has something to do with the demeanor and attitudes of those with intellect.

It's not true. I run a sports forum where the arguments can get very contentious.

We have a simple rule. Hate the coach, hate the player, love the posters. Always be nice to everyone on the forum.

It works pretty well. I usually have to ban 1 or 2 guys a season for trying to talk shit, but we're known in our niche for having the smartest fans with the best analysis.

That said, it's a lot of work (7 years) to get it working almost perfectly.

And forums suck for making money...

Yeah, I had a pretty large forum in the music industry for years. Super fun to be involved in. The money.... what money?

It is not hard, but a simpler approach would be to have a "fiverr" section on here. Why lose the visitors, plus WF could make a couple bucks off of the cheap section.

Also I am talking about cheap services, not shit ass providers. I just checked and there is still lots of "shit" that I would never touch in the new $77 section. Having the cheap section would most likely weed them out of the quality sections making it easier to buy.

You're still missing the point...where is line drawn about what constitutes a shitty service or not? Having a sub-forum with a lower barrier of entry only enables those sellers that were selling in the $36 section to continue selling for their same prices in the new "fiverr" section as you said. For that matter, anyone that sold in the $36 section could just sell in the lower priced section but still have a hefty price tag on their service to maximize their profit margins.

There are plenty of services on this forum that work great for a temporary ROI, but they are still shitty services by nature. Where do they fit in? If I'm selling a $100 link package that puts you on page 1, albeit temporarily, it still qualifies as a shitty service.

Once a thread is closed fewer newcomers mean it stays on page 1 longer, so the OP gets the benefit of advertising long after the thread is closed. I was thinking of starting my own thread in a week or two.

Yeah, for some period of time, opened thread was visible for 2 months on the front page, even though it was locked and couldn't be bumped (design and development section). What more could you ask for :D?

I like the system right now, I just wish they could implement non locking system (pay to bump) so i could rank my threads in google

77 Dollars for a SEO thread is reasonable IMO.

Now 66 dollars for a Content thread might be quite high. I don't run a content service thread on WF but I can see how that might discourage sellers. But then again that might be what Jon's going for as there are a TON of content threads out there. So it might be his way of weeding out the content sellers who aren't truly that great.

Your idea of " a ton" is 9 paid / active threads?
