Oh Noes! The secret is out! (techcrunch article)

haha I guess this is going to get ugly. All bets are off once slightly shady is on the case.
So far I'm loving it. Interesting setup.
They've even got a fake whoisguard domain that they own. ;)
I've seen a few kind of odd connections to Affiliate.com floating around too. But it could be explained by shared colo.

Edit: So who's got the number for the "holy shit you should have sold that oprah domain" tip line?

That's not the point. Say you reach the front page of digg. Other sites pick up on your content and post it.. same deal here.

I don't think this will do much. Are the people that normally fill out these offers the type to read TechCrunch anyways?

Even though the core audience of TechCrunch may skew to the technologically savvy demographic (though by the time I submit this that article will have been bit.ly accessed 12k times today) that would never click on an IQ test or Berry page - the real breadth is through their syndication (with the Washington Post) and the domino effect that creates (snippets on the AP Wire, etc.). I think it's a safe bet that Zuckerberg and Co. will be forced into a statement at least; and possibly make advertising for CPA affiliates even more restrictive than it already is.

Farther down the chain this could become fodder for further FTC or Justice Department exploration. Not because anyone has done anything outside the letter of the law, but precisely because there was not enough "law" to go after them for this in the first place.

Consider me pulled out of this mess. I like to be honorable and defend friends but some things that have been said should not have. I'll watch from the sidelines as I should have from the get go.

it's safe to say Mr. Yu has unleashed a shit storm - a lot of people are gonna be making less internet monies

So how far do we wish to take this gentlemen?
time to Thiem a bitch. I think information needs to start being posted (IPs, domains, more testimonials, facts)

Since all of you were so fucking good with owning Gary, I feel as though I should give back. at your command!

Had no clue he ran the SocialMedia Ad network; I had my account deactivated and campaign (ringtones) flat out stolen there some time ago.

Dennis Yu TC Comment said:
For the record, SocialMedia did almost zero in ringtones, but we did experiment with nearly every other lead gen offer under the sun. If you want ringtones, go see ringtones.net or ringnrock.com. You accused the wrong guy here.
Complete BS.
