My Conversation with Mark Karpeles of MtGox

This IS shooting the shit amirite? What's the issue with telling what you've heard of an "alleged" story? They would just be allegations - no harm, no foul

Gave a news source the exclusive. Holding up my end of the deal by not revealing it here or to you until after they do. That's how it works.

Would this information allow me to profit in the sense that it would give me an insight into the movement of these 'crypto currencies' or any publicly listed company?

Serious question. Because if the answer is yes, I care and would be grateful about a direction tip, without any specifics. I don't care so much the reality of the situation, only how I can profit.

If not; I'll just stick around for the lulz, feels and butt-hurt-ness (yes, I'm making that word up)

Jon, i can only speak for myself and i have some infos too...

Just the whole shit makes no sense @gox. These leaked crisis document looks like shit but at last it has some points. One of the points is the claim gox is complete & total wrecked, coins stolen and all.

If that is true, then Mark should go for his teeth brush because he will go with a high chance to jail. To have a bancrupt company is one thing, accepting still incoming payments which are then used to pay bills another. There are tons of rules for that and he need a god of a lawyer to survive that. i have of course no idea whats really going on but there are so many points to hook in that murphys law can't fail. And japan and its authority will not be happy about all this news. That is a land which is sensitve for such things.

If its not true, then to shut down the company, deleting the tweets and posting a small "in light of recent news reports and the potential repercussions on MtGox's operations and the market, a decision was taken to close all transactions for the time being in order to protect the site and our users. We will be closely monitoring the situation and will react accordingly." is... i have no words.

And then the whole business leaders are framing him in an open letter...

That is the same thing over and over. Complete bullshit, complete stupidity. How can you act more stupid?

He is dead in that business. He even stays better at home the next time. I chatted with people who lost >$1 million dollars so far and these people are angry. Very angry.

Short: I can't see the big speculation here. Its all about the money.
The assets of mtgox are there or not.
*** Thats the only thing which counts ***

If not, then he is fucked, whatever he tries. Gox as name is then dead. Rebranding? Forget it. And Marks life in the next years will be hell.

Jon, we do not talk here about some teen bucks. We talk here about some 100 million dollars! Thats a different beast. You can't just close the door, take some 100 million dollars and say "i will go back to business somewhere later. Perhaps. We will see... Or not."

If the funds are still there, then this all is even more crazy.
No idea how it will end then. but i doubt it will be funny.

He simply crossed not only the line - he crossed now all lines and really, if he can make a comeback here then it will be *the* mega show 2014. Can't wait for it.

What are you talking about? this thread isn't about Mt Gox.

Right. Its about Mark Karpeles of MtGox.
As the title says.

And all what is interesting about Mark Karpeles and what he will become will be defined by MtGox and how that involves. There is not much more interesting about Mr. MK. Except he has a secret life as drag queen. Which would be interesting for some perhaps.

Tip? What could he say that would help bitcoin's value short-term? What if he makes an outrageous accusation that damages perceived utility of Bitcoin?

The meltdown of a primary exchange must be spooking a institutional money; right now I'm sure risk management pros are equating Bitcoin positions to rawdogging in a Haitian men's room. Much fun. Much danger.

Ok, Well...

We will see, right?

This will be decided by hard facts soon, then we can decide who was wrong or right.

@stockfire:
Yeah.

Evening Jon,

Shinjirarenai! Whatever is said now is surely too late? Damage done - coins gone?

Unless it's information for people to retrieve their money of course.

When do you think something solid will be published that will help gox victims feel more at ease? Did he give you any hint?

The king is dead. Long live the king.

Rebrand!

Did jon just nab a once in a lifetime client? (to be paid in equity?)

Or did he just become the new CEO of Gox?
