I was having some trouble with MegaPinger. Everytime I would run it, it would show 99% CPU usage as soon as I would start it up with no pings. Or, it would ping a few dozen links, then shoot up to 99% CPU usage and stop. This would happen even when I had it set to use 1 thread.
After some wrangling, I decided to open up services.txt and dump that list into Scrapebox's ping tool (which is designed for referrer fluffing I guess). With that, SB revealed a handful of services that were throwing a 404 error.
After removing the 404 services from services.txt, MegaPinger is sailing along very nicely.
If you don't have scrapebox, you could probably paste each service into your browser to see which one are 404.
Perhaps v8 of MP will be able to quarantine unresponsive services. Sorry if this has been discussed earlier in the thread. I didn't see anything...

Ok, I found the ProxyFinder thread.
Another question: since proxy finder checks the proxies and updates the txt file every 5 minutes, now I'm wondering...can megapinger re-load proxies from the specified txt file into memory on a specified interval so that during a long ping session, it is constantly using the updated proxy list?

Great product so far! I'm loving using it, but could use some help to iron out my settings, I'd be much appreciated.
I've got 10 private proxies from 'yourprivateproxies' to use with Megapinger. I've also got the ProxyFinder app.
Is there a way to use them both at the same time? I tried to add my private proxies to the ProxyFinder text file but it removed them when it updated.
Can someone suggest what the best choice for me is under these circumstances? Presumably I should stick to the private proxies if I can't use both at the same time, but with how many threads?
I've been able to get away with using 100 threads with these 10 private proxies for several hours and get great speeds. But when I left these settings for pinging overnight, my internet had gone down by the next day.
What do you think would be a safe number of threads to use to leave it overnight to get the best possible speed without connection problems?

I used Megapinger in a VPS, it worked well, but the VPS I was signed up with was pretty slow at times (or that could just be me) but I couldn't continue to justify the monthly fee and I stopped it. Would definitely consider it again though, because the applications can be left running without ever interfering with your home connection.
When I open up the succeeded txt file there is nothing there, and when I open up the failed txt file there is a lot of urls there.
Anyone know why this is so?
Also, what is the titles and how do you use it? How should it be properly used?
When I enter 21k xrumer urls and 38 private proxies why does the ping list say pinging 1.9 million urls?

Each link is getting pinged to many different ping services, not just one each. That's why. I took some out to reduce the time it takes for a bunch to run. No need to hit 50 of Google's ping servers. I left about 20% of them and removed a bunch of others as well.
It seems megabots.net didn't autorenew and some domainer has bought it. This means MegaPinger won't authenticate. I will release a V8 to fix this ASAP, but as a quick fix, in your host file you can set megabots.net to 208.94.116.181. Here is a guide: How to Edit Your Windows HOSTS File | eHow.com
