Luke's 4K post: How to GTFO! (And into Thailand)

Moving somewhere more free?

lol thats the stupidest shit I've ever heard. The only logical reason to move to thailand would be because its so cheap. You don't need to move to thailand to get "freedom".

If you want freedom go buy a plot of land in the middle of no fucking where U.S.A. and feel safe knowing that nobody will be watching you jack off to your lady boy collection.

You obviously haven't lived in both places so your opinion is worth about that much.

As for the ladyboy jo sessions, maybe that's something you have more experience with.

Well, then you continue getting groped every time you want to fly somewhere, have your government read your e-mails, have cops visit you if you buy too much cough syrup, charge you for downloading some music, have your 9yo kid put in handcuffs because he was "disruptive" in class, and have a government who works around the clock to instill fear & paranoia in every resident. I'll hang out here, but you have fun with that. :)

Just the simple lack of fear and paranoia that general society has is MORE than worth the headache and culture shock it takes to move here, and integrate yourself into society.

Thailand | Freedom House backs up the premise that Thailand does not offer civil or political freedoms that approach those of the United States, and that indulging perversions and exploiting poverty are the main attractions for westerners.

You're getting wrapped up in a completely impertinent issue. As a foreigner you can't vote or have any say in Thai politics or civil law. So it is completely irrelevant to you as a foreigner how some pompous study rates the country's political or civil freedoms.

But if you like following Thai politics it is pretty entertaining. I do know that they don't have any law on the books in Thailand that they can imprison you indefinitely without a hearing or strip you of your citizenship. That would be the US. Enjoy your freedoms suckers.

Great guide, applicable to more places than Thailand as it is loaded with best practices. I don't understand why people are going to Thailand though, you can live very cheaply in South America, and have a much more westernized cultural experience.

This x2. As I mentioned before, I spent a month in Thailand about 3 years ago, and I thought it was a beautiful country.. I'd definitely go back to visit, but I wouldn't live there. I like South/Central America more.

Write a post about moving to central/south america I would read it. South America is not a common destination for nothern Europeans.

Let's address this King business once and for all here: The king makes NO laws. He doesn't give a shit one way or another if you disrespect his name. His entire lineage exists to serve the people by doing wise and philnathropic acts. This enriches the entire country greatly, and the people there HIGHLY, almost religiously, respect their king for this. If you read his history you'll be SHOCKED at how much of a slave to society he is and how much he has given of himself.
So the Thai People DO NOT want you dissing their king. Them there are fighting words! THEY will send you to prison for 7-14 years, (being a democracy, the government is run by the people, just like here) not the royal family. So just don't do it. OK?

THIS guy?

(Don't click if you're a peasant in Thailand)

...That aren't really enforced, or even when so, you can't bribe your way out of.

So you think police corruption is a good thing?

Some people get bothered by that but I married into a Thai family and find them far superior to the family I was born to... So that won't be a problem at all for me. ;)

I think I‘ve figured it out. Lukep is actually part of Bhumibol Adulyadej’s (king of Thailand) family and is trying to boost tourism there.

They are like being sent to prison for life. Don't do anything harder than Mary J there, especially anything poppy-based. It's SRS BZNS...

This place IS utopia. No doubt.

Porn is NOT illegal to buy there. It may be illegal to make, but I've seen all types of porn in multiple chains of bookstores and video outlets for sale. Even in the most upstanding bookstores you can happen upon a playboy magazine or some softcore porn videos, and in the tech malls you'll easily find row after row of hardcore porn from other countries. (Mostly Korean if I remember correctly.) Porn is only blocked online to hide Thai children from it; I believe you can still get it online from sites which require a credit card first in order to see the first pair of boobies.

It seems most of Southeast Asia has ridiculous porn laws:

Don't scare them Mark! You know that was a temp thing when some Video was uploaded insulting the King... Once that video was removed from YT the country released the block.

Internet censorship in Thailand - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You clearly aren't seeing the bigger picture of the concept of freedom here.

Over 110,000 sites have been blocked according to Wikipedia. I guess this includes Bhumibol Adulyadej's own Wikipedia page? lol.

A few blocked sites to protect children from porn do not take your livelihood away.
Unless your livelihood comes from producing porn or if it involves simply visiting websites from normal countries, where porn is legal.

Laws like the NDAA and SOPA can.

Thailand's censorship is worse than SOPA would have ever been.

I wish someone published a comparison of all the individual freedoms we expect and rank the various countries against each other for them...
This site kind of does that: Thailand vs. United States Economic Freedom Chart

How can you live there and date a Thai and not get that the people there (at least the older generations) are actually THANKFUL for all he's done? Coming from the west that's alien to us I know, but this is not a government removal of freedom, it's the people protecting their own.

Some people are thankful for what Obama's done. Does that mean that no one should be allowed to criticize him?

You're totally getting the wrong idea here. You can carry guns in Thailand too. Thais love their guns. -They don't need them though so it's rare to spot one on the street.

Found on the internet-
"A foreigner in Thailand is unable to carry a firearm, without express permission, which is very rarely granted. For a Thai citizen, they must show themselves to be good members of the community, show cause for issuance of the licence..."

You of all people should be able to appreciate the freedoms they have over there that the western hemisphere doesn't get to enjoy.

I'd like to know what freedoms you have in Thailand that you don't have in the US.

Like I said before, Thailand is not for most people. I think nobody providing information is trying sell anyone on living here. I think there are too many foreigners here already so please stay home. Most of you guys should just move on to another thread. /thread

Move away from all family and friends to live in an Asian country across the world where I'll constantly be sweating, feeling like a tourist, unable to hire good workers, not know the language, have to exist in pollution, and not be able to be belligerent towards anybody?

I think I'll pass on ladyboy land.

If this is the mentality behind everyone who wants to move to thailand then its probably good that your getting out.

I don't know if you are trolling or not, but if that is really your reasons for not living in the USA you got mental problems.

1. getting groped everytime you want to fly? I'm pretty sure they do that shit in every major airport around the world. Helps prevent things like oh i dunno.. bombs from getting on your plane.

2. government reading your email? I'm pretty sure the government doesn't give a fuck about you and you ain't important enough to warrant them looking through your email.

Either way thailand blocks a lot of shit on the internet. You think they don't monitor emails? don't be an idiot.

3. Cops and cough syrup. lol?

4. Charge you for downloading music? Well that ain't the government that comes after you for downloading music. its the music industry and they don't charge you. they sue your ass for doing illegal shit and your bitching about getting caught for doing illegal shit?

5. 9 year old kid in handcuffs. Well I doubt anyone would have children with you so your safe here.

6. government who works around the clock to instill fear & paranoia in every resident.

Well I guess it works because your scared shitless over the dumbest things.

You're getting wrapped up in a completely impertinent issue. As a foreigner you can't vote or have any say in Thai politics or civil law. So it is completely irrelevant to you as a foreigner how some pompous study rates the country's political or civil freedoms.

Oh yea the countries politics and how its run is totally irrelevant, because you know, nothing could ever go wrong while your there right? I mean shit thailand is some magical place with all this freedom, lady boys, and cheap food! Who cares what some pompous study says about the country's politics! I'm trying to run away from my own countries politics, I don't have time to care about my future home countries politics.

Lol. They even monitor your text messages...

+ rep luke

If I may be so bold as to list something you overlooked: Don't get into fights with other AM'ers over ladyboi's while there.

I said one skeptical comment and this thread turned into a hate on Thailand shitstorm.

If you're live in Thailand, hire 3 hot girls to pose fully nude with you and a sign that says "Wickedfire, I guess you were right about Thailand"

I think that will wrap up this debate nicely--by posting something most of us like. No ladyboys please.

another inspirational thread from lukep. Tho I had plans to move there before this thread even started. Figuring out how to still get income (was hoping my company let me work remotely) while over there was my challenge. So hopefully I will be able to figure out my own way of passive income soon.

Thailand is beautiful. All the negatives I heard.. either they haven't been there or haven't allow themself to integrate there long enough. Close minded for the lose.

Yet I can understand it's not for everyone. But if you haven't live there for at least 1 year, you have no rights to fairly judge 'freedom'
