To those Indians who are defending Indians here. YOU FAIL. Your argument that we can't generalize sucks. Yes, we can. Why do you think rates for Russian coders are around $25/hr and for Indian coders are around $5? No it's not because "there's more Indians in the world". It's because Indian quality SUCKS. The market has "generalized" the Indian service/product to where it belongs - the crap tier.

Indians can stick their "Sir, Sir" bullshit where the sun don't shine.

Dear sir sir dear

Just out of curiosity what kind of projects are you guy's outsourcing ? I'm very interested in this thread as I have a few ideas floating around in my head and I couldn't code "Hello World" if I had too. :)

I'm thinking of hiring 4-5 software developers but not sure whether I should go with Indians or Filipinos.

If you have any experience with working with either - I would appreciate your response.
I think that's like asking if white people work harder than blacks. It's not really a matter of which RACE is better, but which DEVELOPER is better.

We've had clients tell us that they've had numerous SKILLS problems with both, and almost always have a big COMMUNICATION problem with both. You've got your good ones, and your bad ones.

Maybe a better approach is to post a full-time job over at freelancer.com, or elance.com, etc, and choose your new developers based off their RATING from previous employers.

Also, just a side note, we've also had numerous clients acknowledge that, due to the ease of communication AND advanced skills, it is sometimes better to hire locally (u.s. based developer), and the cost comes out the same because they're better and faster. But again, this will vary from developer to developer.

i would suggest go for Indian, rather hen Russian or Philippines they would provide you the quality..

If you are an indian then this is for you : _|_

And you know what makes this so special - You got it from an indian :321:

Don't know bout filipinos but i myself never hire any indian for my own work - seo, coding, website design etc. And i will laugh at anyone who will say indians give quality.

A typical situation with the indian coders :

Q) Can you code search engine like google ?
A) Yes sir we can. You need to pay $xxx to abc

Q) Will the site have a web 2.0 design?
A) Yes sir. You need to pay $xxx to abc

Q) Will the site have a mysql database or sql server database?
A) Yes sir. You need to pay $xxx to abc

Q) Will you install it for us on our server?
A) Yes sir. You need to pay $xxx to abc

Q) Will you provide support for like 6 months?
A) Yes sir. You need to pay $xxx to abc

Q) Can we see any of your testimonials?
A) Yes sir. You need to pay $xxx to abc

You will find this giant abctechnologiesifuckmywife5timesadayandhaveextramaritalaffairs.com site on elance, scriptlance, fiverr, onerr and everywere.

And in the end what you do get is :

1) A search engine which won't search your own site
2) Customer support - dear respected sir,
a) family problem
b) telephone problem
c) hosting problem
d) erectile dysfunction
e) my uncle raped my wife
f) Sorry sir - your customer support period has expired. You need to pay $xxx to abc to continue.

Yes we have good coders but they do not sit on fiverr, elance etc. They work in large MNCs. So whenever you hire an indian ask him whether he is a graduate or not. Better stick with russians or even koreans, libyans, kazakhistanian, uzbekistanian etc.

I've worked with them all. Russians are good but I've had quite a few friends who have been fucked over by them.

Personally, we work with a few teams in South America. Specifically Argentina. They are on the same time zone as us, work 35-50 hours a week, speak English, and are incredible coders. They cost about $5-$15 an hour, but a $15 an hour guy is the equivalent to a $70 programmer here in the U.S..

If you're going to be doing a lot of outsourcing, grab an American manager. There are a ton down there. Ours is from Arizona (born, raised, and graduated there) and he is our full time guy making sure shit is right and gets done.

In conclusion, skip elance. You might find a few gems, but you'll learn that you lose more money in time looking for them then just paying the extra damn $5 an hour.

well honestly most of the filipino developers are good however, the potentials are being limited to to a low support, unlike other countries that has their updated training, they can bring things up.

If only filipino developers can have the same opportunity as the other, i can assure you that you will love how filipino works.

How much would it cost to outsource some software for Russian, Ukrainian or Romanian?
I am talking about web based scraper something like GPScraper or Power Leads Pro.
