Would people mind posting the types of programming projects they outsourced? So far I've only seen one guy describe his gig and that was a captcha solving engine which was coded by a Ukranian. I'm curious as to how technically complex your projects are and the various niches they serve.

I have repaired PH coding about 25 times.. by repair I mean rewriting it completely.
I would never hire a PH coder (but would hire an SEOer from PH).

If I needed code I would hit Ukraine, Russia, or Romania.

India is pretty vast with so many cultural diversities. 100 s of languages,100 s of cultures.
good and bad on both sides.

Worked with Indians before, contracted one to 5 days of work, 8 days later they had completed 3 days and infringed on the contract by deleting data from the system we had them working on.

It was mostly down to communication. The languages get really muddled up when translated.

I have been hiring programmers for over 14 years now. I never ever go with people from India. The communication and work is terrible. When hiring a programmer, you need to be able to communicate your ideas to them. This also comes down to you giving detailed breakdowns of what exactly it is you want.

My 2 guys that I use for over 8 years now 1 is from Romania and one is from Russia. Its important to have a good designer as well as it kind of paints a picture for the programmer on what needs to be done.

Here's the secret when it comes to outsourcing: hire U.S. citizens who live in parts of the world where the price of living is cheap as fuck. Trust me. They're a bit harder to find but when you've got one it's like hitting the lotto.

Hell yeah! Western developers and sales agents living in Latin America and South-East Asia made me tons of money back in the day. You get premium quality at rates not lot higher than outsourcing

As of Injuns vs. Pinoys, I'd go for Pinoys. Easier to communicate and could be a great cultural fit. On side note, I'd go for East Europeans any time

I've worked with them all. Russians are good but I've had quite a few friends who have been fucked over by them.

Personally, we work with a few teams in South America. Specifically Argentina. They are on the same time zone as us, work 35-50 hours a week, speak English, and are incredible coders. They cost about $5-$15 an hour, but a $15 an hour guy is the equivalent to a $70 programmer here in the U.S..

If you're going to be doing a lot of outsourcing, grab an American manager. There are a ton down there. Ours is from Arizona (born, raised, and graduated there) and he is our full time guy making sure shit is right and gets done.

In conclusion, skip elance. You might find a few gems, but you'll learn that you lose more money in time looking for them then just paying the extra damn $5 an hour.

Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and Colombia could be also awesome. Especially for design and video

I say fuck them both and choose neither. If you live in the U.S. and want quality hire someone from the U.S... just sayin!

Some great talent to be found overseas and cost is not the only benefit, given high quality costs just about anywhere

Good Indians, Pinoys, Ukrainians, Argentines, Americans, Brits or Marsians do tend to come with a price tag and are very scarce

My favorite part of working with Indians is the strange verbiage they'll use. Like asking me to 'do the needful'.

I worked with Indians. I currently work with a Indian team on SEO and they are excellent. I worked with App developers and they were excellent too. I only had 1 major burn out with one company. They had the most outstanding web portfolio, Promised me earth and sun and they gave me a utter crap site. The minute they took the money they did a runner. 10 emails and not even 1 reply. Lessons learned hard way. I'd say do your research before hiring a team. Find out if they are really skilled and have enough resources to pull off the project. Talk to them and offer them a reasonable amount. Don't throw peanuts and expect a great output. They are humans too just like us trying to feed their families. Nowadays I always screen every person I hire. I make sure they have the skills and NEVER pay until I'm 100% happy.

I work with a Romanian designer these days and I must say this guy really knows how to design and code.

My advise is if you need creative stuff never go to Indians. Generally they are lack of creativity but they can code like a m.f*cker (No offense of course)

Never worked with filipinos..

Never hire the cheapest.Better to go with guys who have lots of reviews and pay the price premium.Indian developers are more in number. So,you have more chance of coming across a bad apple in Indians than Filipinos.
