How Many Hours of Sleep Do You Get?

I can't remember the last time I even checked. Go to bed when tired, wake up when I'm ready. Varying workout intensities and schedules seem to have an effect on it as well. That and booze.

8 hours is ideal, 7 still OK, 6 and lower is no fun, however there are times that I can get a couple of 4-5 hours per day and my solution is to go to sleep early (like 2200) for 2-3 days - when I do that I find that I wake up naturally before 6 am and in really good shape.

I guess I should try and go to sleep every night at 2200, but what would be the fun of that?

From around 11pm to 8am, when the clock goes off. Usually i am up sooner. And since i started to work out more, i started to sleep better and i also need less sleep.

Man some of you guys sleep alot. I think you need more excercise. I've been doing 4-4.5 hours a night for the last 10 years or so. When I was a teenager I could easily do 8-9 though.

Gory Pic Alert!! ewww

I'm similar to a couple of posts above.

Sometimes I'm stuck in this damn chair for up to 36 hours straight and only eat like maybe twice in that time. Then when I crash after a shift like that it's for about 8 hours.

I rarely ever sleep for more than 6 hours and I seem to be good to go on anything between 4-6 hours sleep. I'm 47 now and have only been getting betwen 4 to 6 hours since I was 17.

Anything more than 6 hours and I'm pretty sluggish afterwards. Less than 3 hours and I'm kinda Zombiefied!! Lulz

Even after my car wreck 4 months ago where I rolled it twice after a head on collision at 45 mph and was SCALPED across 30% of the top of my head (That was the FIRST time in my life I was GLAD that I was already BALD!! lol) I was sleeping for only 4 hours a night while healing. Couldn't sit at the computer much (Only could stand it for about 2 hours at a time.) for the first 3 months due to the neck injury.

So, I guess that even when my body needs to heal I don't sleep much.

I've also found that if I'm STUPID enough to decide to check my stats or emails "One Last Time" for the night just before bed, 3 hours will just ZIP by and then I can't get to sleep. If I really NEED to sleep I have to "Step AWAY" from the computers and let my brain wind down or I'll be pulling another 36 hour session. LOL

Oh, just an FYI, have you ever been driving and felt a little sleepy where you try to FORCE your eyes to stay open? You kinda shake your head to wake yourself up a little. Well, that's how my car wreck happened. I had to go outta town the following day and just before going to bed at 3 a.m. I decided it would be a good idea to go gas up before bed so as to not have to deal with everyone at the pump the next day.

Oops, just 1.5 miles from home on the way back from filling the car up I felt drowsey and just as I shook my head to wake myself up some, there was a deafening sound and my whole world was literally turning upside down. Turns out that a guy on an expired driver's license in his wife's van that had expired plates was sitting in the center turn lane waiting to turn left when I hit him.

He and I were that only vehicles on the road at the time. I don't remember seeing him there and the Highway Patrol couldn't determine whether he tried to turn too early or if I veered into his lane. But since I told her that I was drowsey and shook my head just before the accident I got a ticket for an improper lane change.

Also, in case you guys don't know, here in Florida it costs $15,000.00 for a Life Flight helicopter ride!!! It was too foggy that night for the chopper to come get me so I took a 60 mile ambulance ride instead that only cost me $560.00.

For the rest of my life I will just pull over and not even get behind the wheel if I ever feel the least bit sleepy/drowsey. I can't tell you how many times I've made trips where I was sleepy and used Caffiene, Nicotine, The A/C, or put all the windows down to keep me awake to get where I was going.

Never again.

Holy shit. I'm glad you're ok! Too bad this wasn't closer to halloween, you could've made a badass Zombie costume with that wound.

Usually I sleep ~10 a day and wake up still feeling a bit tired most of the time.

Just woke up after 14 hours of sleep. Didn't sleep for 34 hours prior to this. Was just trying it out. Turned off cell phone (alarm) and just let myself sleep, 14 hours is all it took. Woke up, not feeling tired at all.

The bad part is the productivity at the last few hours of those 34 that I was up, didn't get shit done. Trying to split test different sleeping schedules at this point as well.

I feel like sleeping is one of my biggest weaknesses. I just can't get up early, need to split test different sleeping schedules and see if I can fix it for the better somehow. If anybody has good links, solutions, post plz. Perhaps I just need to work on the discipline instead, force myself to just get the fuck up at 7 every morning and work on dealing with it differently.

The thing is, I am the most productive at night. On the other hand, I have kids and have to be up at 6:30 am some days.

Also, noticed that the tiredness disappears after a coffee, decently healthy breakfast (as I always skipped them before), good morning exercise in the mornings and positive attitude towards the new day.

Heh, slept 22 hours last night after being awake for 28 hours straight. Although yesterday (or I guess technically the day before) was a really draining day for all 28 hours I was awake so I really needed the sleep to feel refreshed.

Usually I get around 10 hours of sleep per night and I stay awake for around 18 hours per night (so when I wake up/go to sleep rotates each day).
