How Many Hours of Sleep Do You Get?

Before I would get about 8-9 hours of sleep and still wake up feeling tired. Went to bed around 1-2am, woke up at 10 or 11. Getting work done early was naturally pretty difficult.

2 weeks ago I started trying my variation of Ben Franklin's daily schedule. You can see what it looks like here.

I now go to bed at 12-1 and wake up at 7-8. I don't feel too tired when waking up like before and seem to sleep better at night.

Anyway, I've seen a few studies online that suggest getting 8 or more hours of sleep actually isn't ideal for adults.
 


6-7 hours depending on when I go to sleep. I wake up 5:59 like clockwork. I set my alarm at 6 but I always wake up right before it rings. I don't usually get tired unless I had a drink to many the previous night
 
Just started sleeping since I quit energy drinks. I swear quitting energy drinks and coffee is the devil.
 
It varies, but normally 9 hours. I can't wake up before 11am even if multiple alarms are going off. I'd like to know why I sleep so much though. I used to sleep 4 hours a day though high school and up until about a year ago (6-7 years total). Now, If I don't sleep 8 hours I can't function.

I do exactly that and know what you mean. 2-10am and I still feel tired.
At one point in my life, I slept 6am-1pm and always felt tired.

Perhaps its not the number of hours but the fact that one needs to go to bed earlier for quality sleep.

I shall give the 10pm-5am thing a go. Probably going to be difficult at first. Thanks again.

i do a 2-7 and usually feel pretty good during the week sometimes though i do around 3:30-7 and that is rough at first but I feel the most energy with that as long as it's only a day or so after that I get crabby and sluggish.

The weekends i sleep till about 9-10.

why don't you try getting off the fucking juice? (alcohol)
 
If you're sleeping 8 hours a day, and still feel tired, then you need more exercise. Go for a simple two 30 min runs a day.

There's "sleep", and then there's "sleep". Tire your body out during the day, make sure you sweat a decent amount, and you'll sleep alot better. You'll also feel a lot better and more ambitious when you're stuck behind a computer working.
