EPN is going to fuck us! QCP Preview Available

maybe this has already been mentioned but I was reading about some upcoming changes at EPN....i pasted below what i read

"I was fortune enough to catch wind of a new filtering process that EPN will begin to implement full scale in April 2010. It's called Click Forensics Technology or CFT for short. EPN has signed a contract with Clickforensics.com to filter it's traffic for click fraud, trademark and quality.

One of the things that CFT will do is measure "User Intention" for lack of a better term. The way it was explained was that let's say you did everything right, built a really killer blog that ranked in the top for "Diamond Shaped Blue Widgets". I'm talking by the book, 100% legit site. No BS at all.

Obviously Ebay will have these "Diamond Shaped Blue Widgets" listed in auction or BIN format. Through "patented technology" Click Forensics Technology, Inc. claims to be able to determine and filter clicks that would have found these items on Ebay regardless if they visited through your site or not. Your QPC will adjusted to reflect this.

Beta testing has already begun.

This is only a small portion of what CFT,inc claims to be able to do. Interstingly enough, two of the founders of CFT are former Google Engineers.

I am in no way suggesting people drop EPN or whatever.

Just giving you some heads up and this was the last straw for me."

Click Forensics to Help eBay Protect Online Advertisers

That's a bunch of horseshit, get ready to bend over.

Ebay replied on their forums, Click Forensics apparently is not providing that service. Someone is full of crap, I am tempted to believe it is Click Forensics and not Ebay because Ebay is very careful about what they say, and they pretty clearly denied these claims.

I killed one campaign yesterday after letting it run for ~3 months or so. It was doing lousy - a dozen or so clicks a day and nearly zero revenue for ebay.

My EPC jumped to $0.05 for yesterday. That's a 150% increase :) I was sitting at $0.02 and I am starting to get worried about the low EPC so I'm killing sites and adding new ones. I have 10 waiting in the wings for exactly this purpose- I think I am going to bring them all online and see what works.

My Epc needs to go up Bad I was at .33 a click and I send them between 1100 and 1200 a day now it's at .05-.06 starting the new year.

Set a (QCP) record 0.61 EPC for 1/11. Pulling the transaction report I see I made a fairly large sale which was on the exact topic of the site that referred it. This site really only does well in spring/summer, so I'm excited to see if this continues.

How much actual $$ are you guys making each day, if you don't mind saying.

Lately about $10-$12 across 3 sites (only 2 of which contribute very much traffic). However, just one of those sites was pulling in $25/day before QCP. However, since QCP started around the time of year that those products go out of style, I won't have a real baseline for QCP until August or so.

From what I recall, your products should be pretty seasonal too, right? Do you have a good base for comparing QCP yet?

Jan is about the same as Dec for me. 0.20 is where I'm at for the month. Had a couple big days to start the month now it's dropped down.

How much actual $$ are you guys making each day, if you don't mind saying. I think I'm probably averaging around $50 a day between 4-5 sites that are getting clicks. I have no barometer to determine if that's good, bad or what. If you don't mind posting a dollar figure, I'd be curious to see how you guys are doing.

i make between $10-$25/day with EPN across 5 sites. i have been using EPN (and the old programs) for years now...and it's still paying off.

that no much money my friend. I make $10-25 too easy with to be at just the one site. I no have to bring my own tools. I just bring gloves. after I make clean to site I take a siesta.

^^ Uh Oh...looks like someones trying to give Sumit a run for his money.

Just an FYI -

I killed one campaign last weekend - it had been crap for the 3 months since I started it - I figured that was long enough. It was at like $0.02 forever.

Since then my overall EPC has jumped from an average of $0.04 to $0.19. It's only been a week so it might be a coincidence - but I just had my best two days ever in a row.

lol grammar fail

My gut feeling tells me that the QCP is just a fuck-job but when I go look at 2009 the numbers don't lie. Ever since QCP has been instated I've seen 3x the EPC so I really can't complain.

It might have to do with me having to disable my larger campaigns due to the no-trademark-domain rule that they put in. I'm not sure.

If you get a new domain name, you could 301 that traffic I think. Don't quote me on that I haven't done it myself, but off the top of my head, I can't see why it wouldn't work.

That's true, I've done this before with OK results for a smaller site but just didn't want to risk the rankings for the sites in question (one around 2k uniques daily) since I'm kind of a fraidy-cat.

At the time it was a good excuse to start diversifying my income. I can't sleep well at night with a huge chunk of my monthly change coming from EPN.

Would something like this work? Basically running a duplicate...

Run a2p on Trademarkeddomain.com, htaccess all url's to nontrademarkdomain.com item post, blank referrer, voila?

Sounds ridiculous, no?

IF I were going to do such a thing, I'd just have a parked tm domain pointing to me non tm domain and perhaps make use of the canoncial tag and/or a 301 redirect

4th record day in a row going on - killing that underperforming site seems like something I delayed far too long...

For the A2P old timers here...what EPC would you consider "too low" and kill? And how long would you wait with a new site before killing it? I waited 3 months - the site bounced wildly during that time from $0.14 to $0.02 and back - but after I killed the worst site things seem more stable (granted, it's only been 4 days...)

This is kind of funny - I have one site which I did some light SEO for - it's now my second worst site money-wise (but not bad EPC).

The only SEO I did for it was a Zimbio + Squidoo RSS submit and one set of Red_Virus' backlinks.

I haven't even looked at it in like 3 weeks - and I checked today and it had hit #3 in the SERPS. At first I thought personalized search was on - but it wasn't.

I probably need to do something with this...

On the site that you killed, how many impressions a day were you getting. I have a couple of really old sites, like back from the Build a Niche Store days that have 0 EPC, but they're only getting like 50 impressions a day and no clicks. Wonder if shutting those down would do anything productive.

I killed it on 1/9 - as in completely blew away the Wordpress installation so I know there were no impressions after that.

The stats for that site were 62 impressions and 9 clicks.

Now you know why I killed it :)

My overall EPC was $0.02 on site at the time I killed it. I just ran a report and I had 308 clicks up through and including the 9th - so like 2% of the clicks were dragging down the total a HUGE percentage. Literally it is 9X higher - I've been averaging $0.18 since then. AND I just had my best day ever.

Makes you wonder about that algorith...
