Thats awesome extreme. There was another poster in here that tagged a 70K member forum with even more forums. Yes, it does take some work but these forums can be loaded with traffic. Way cheaper to test those lower paying offers out there and spend a ton less on testing.

Great post Ruck. This is the exact reason I started following CashTactics.

I can see than organization will be key to keep this successful long-term, something that isn't my strength without some kind of system. Has anyone used a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system with this approach?

Using some kind of systematic approach would allow you to target and manage a larger list of potential forums, much more efficiently. It would allow you to track leads, archive conversations, and track which sales letters are working.

If anyone has any questions about CRM's, PM me. I love playing with sales and marketing systems.

Ruck,

Thanks.

This works very well with my overall strategy.

Man, the shit i've learned on this forum...

Ruck you really have my wheels spinning. Thanks for the info. Like the rest I am curious about others success.

Wanted to chime in with my experience so far.

I purchased an ad on a parenting forum for a week, starting on Friday evening. Since its the weekend I feel like traffic isn't as high as it usually is, but so far I've only gotten a few clicks and 0 conversions.

Could be that my banner is fuckin' ugly.

I'll update soon when I get more stats.

Example:

It's going to be odd at first but so was losing your virginity and now 99% of people love to screw and that is exactly how your going to feel once you do this once successfully.

Thats what you call a fucking quote

Amazing thread, very good, unique original idea, i'm going to test this out in the next few days will post results asap

What if one of the users on the forum catches on about the affiliate offer?

If you're gonna sit and think about it, everything in the world can go wrong. The webmaster might be a network owner himself. All the forum members might be bots setup by the webmaster of the forum to trick people like you into buying adspace, every forum member might be an affiliate marketer that's going to steal your idea, the networks can scrub all your leads, you might get zero leads, your power might go out, you might die as soon as I get off the PC today, etc..

who cares? Just give it a try

Update: I bought a week trial of ad space on a parenting forum. Instead of emails/zips I tried a girlsnamediet.com type blog. Got a few clicks, but the bounce rate was bad.

I then tried the last 2 days of the trial with a cash4gold type offer. This also performed poorly.

Possible Causes of Fail:

  • Bad offers - Paid offers may just be too much for forums, though I'm sure you could find something that would work.
  • Creatives - The creative I used for the weight loss blog was horrible. I was going for the amateur angle, might have been too amateur. I used a network provided Xmas themed creative for the cash4gold type offer.
  • Bad ad space - The ad spot I bought was in between the header and the content on every page, but it was kinda hard to see.
These are just a few of the obvious possibilities. I'm sure there was a lot more that went wrong here.
