Then ill take your supplies, do it again = profit.

& LOL at this guy who thinks the governments gonna fall, yet satellites will still be in service. Buy crank radios, as for my gen 3 night scopes or other electronics, solar chargers (a few) with hundreds of batteries.
 
After the last hurricane here I bought a AK and a few thousand rounds.. Not sure what else you might need.. The savage monkey's get crazy after hurricanes it seems.

The next hurricane I think I am going to get a suite at local nice hotel that has generators and room service no A/C sucks.

Speaking of where to move to avoid disasters, a friend of mind bought a ranch a few years ago to get away from the urban life and have a comfortable place to be self sufficient and hunker down when the SHTF...near Gila National Forest in New Mexico...oops.
 
Speaking of weapons to quickly, easily, and quietly dispatch zombies I've always thought an old school medieval mace would be the best weapon you could have around. It would most certainly deliver a fatal blow to the zombie's dome and unlike a axe, hatchet, hammer, etc. due to the way the spikes are shaped you could easily withdraw it from the Zombie's head.

Anyone have one of these lying around?

This brings up an interesting point. Do you all have a dual plan system? A plan for vacating the premises and even your town/city if need be vs a plan where you stay put, stockpiled and fortified within your premises?

It doesn't help to have 50 kilos of hermetically sealed rice and 50 gallons of water stockpiled if the place collapses or is washed away.
 
The problem with guns is that like Katrina, the first thing they want to do is go around and grab all the guns. They WILL be doing that and if you don't produce the ones registered to you then you are in custody (if you are not already anyway).
They will also pop gun safes etc no problem.

So I am thinking of having a few unregistered guns (handgun and rifle).

Thoughts on obtaining, legalities of an unlicensed handgun ?

Not in NM but we have a few acres that shares a property line with a national forest. The way the tract is shaped in relation to the protected land it eliminated the possibility of anyone building close by. This was one of the main reasons for purchasing. The area is rich in game that could provide a substantial food supply for quite some time.

Though in an apocalyptic scenario I'm not sure how good an idea it is. Seems like everyone who had the skills and resources would be trying to go native and hunt / fish the area. The property would be difficult to defend and the infrastructure on our land would look very enviable.

I have nothing yet really. I have a .25 Colt Double Action, but limited ammo. Figure its good for small game and personal defense if needed at close range. However, with the amount of ammo I have I would barely last a day or 2 with it.

I need a couple of things since I have a family to provide for, might have to get a bunker made out of a shipping container in the ground along with a few other things.

I have seen some freakin EXCELLENT youtube prepper vids for bugout bags FYI. Also US considers you a T3rr 0r 1st if you are a prepper FYI again.

The Ultralight is a good stove, there is a whisperlight international that I want to pick up that will burn anything, paint, white gas, leaded gas, kerosine whatever.. I think that is a SUPER survival stove..

Also MSR make a kick ass water filter that is like 2 microns I think.. only slightly bigger than a water molecule so the water can be puperd out of a toilet and drank if needed.. I suggest that .. I think that was the MSR II if I am not mistaken ..
For your bugout bag, get a tom brows field guide and toss it in there.. there are some books on urban survival that might be good to have as a reference..

This is very true as well, not every disaster...but when shit starts hitting the fan and people start acting crazy....they will come in and do that.
